I had mentioned this last week on Uncharted Territory, but I wanted to let folks know about an impromptu gathering this Saturday, April 22, in Des Moines, IA, at Mayhem Collectibles. Eric K, TK, Brian VW, and a few others will be getting together to hang out, probably play COTG/LOW/GFP, definitely shoot the breeze and solve all of the world's problems. We will be having lunch at Mojito's Mexican Grill at 11:00 am (6611 University Ave suite 100, Windsor Heights, IA 50324) and then head to Mayhem Collectibles around 12:30 pm (7500 University Ave, Clive, IA 50325). The question is if I can convince my wife to make the trip with me this weekend and drive the almost 11 hours in one day ... if not have a great time, and I will see you Chad Olson in less than a month in St. Louis! |

We had a small but mighty gathering of friends today! Thanks to Brian V, Avarice, Thomas (TK), and iowaoaks for a fun meet up. Went to Mojito's for lunch and had some good Mexican grub. Then we went over to Mayhem Comics and set up in the game room. I took some time to look at a ton of comics and games and was proud of myself for not purchasing anything. Brian V set up his "Legends of Iowa Wrestling" game and gave a demonstration. Avarice and I played out a GFP match to test out new special match rules... Thomas (TK) and Avarice rolled a GFP match or two... iowaoaks and I chatted about Iowa beers and ciders... Thomas (TK) had a good conversation topic about favorite artwork that performed the worst, and conversely, worst artwork that performed the best. After goofing around for about four hours, we all went our separate ways. I got home early enough to sneak in a 30 minute Saturday nap! Even though there wasn't much structure or game play, it was a great time hanging out with folks I've known for up to 35 years. Thanks to TOM for creating this game that's brought us all together! |
