Appalachian Championship Wrestling from the KFBE Channel 9 Studio
“Hello and Welcome to Appalachian Championship Wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie, and we’ve got an incredible show for you tonight. Rick Rude, the ACW heavyweight champion, is here with Big John Studd. We’ll see the ACW tag team champions, the James Gang in action. The ACW Heritage Championship tournament continues, and the ACW Television Championship will be on the line in the main event, as Sgt. Slaughter will defend against Jimmy Valiant. Let’s go over to the ring for the opening match.
The James Gang vs the Mulkey Brothers
The James Gang defeats the Mulkey Brothers by pinfall after BG James hit Bill Mulkey with a Shake, Rattle and Roll knee drop. Randy Mulkey tried to make the save, but was cut off by Kip James.
After the match, the James Gang address defending the ACW Tag Team Championships against the winners of the first ever James Lawrence Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament, telling the fans that it didn’t matter who wins the tournament, because the James Gang is ready to face anyone at anytime.
“Up next we’ll hear from the ACW Heavyweight Champion, Rick Rude who is here with his bodyguard, Big John Studd.”
Rude brags to Solie about being the new ACW Heavyweight Champion, and also brags on Studd being the biggest man in professional wrestling. Rude puts up an offer of $5000 to anyone who can pin or submit Studd. George South comes through the curtain and accepts Rude’s offer.
Big John Studd vs George South
Big John Studd defeats George South by pinfall after hitting his Backbreaker finisher. After the match Rude and Studd’s celebration is cut short as Solie informs them that he has a video on the TV monitor to show them.
Video: Magnum TA is in a gym and has been working out. He looks directly into the camera and speaks to both Rude and Studd, telling them that Rude wouldn’t be champion, had Studd not interfered in the match. “Rude, you cashed in the Golden Opportunity*, and I had you beat. Then Studd stuck his nose in the match, saving you, and costing me the ACW Heavyweight title. I asked Commissioner Long for our rematch to be in a steel cage at ACW’s Ground Zero Super Show, because I want you one on one. No outside interference. Now I want to address Big John Studd. I talked with Commissioner Long, and he did you a “HUGE” favor. I didn’t want you to be bored at Ground Zero, so I made a call to an old friend, and I let Commissioner Long and my old friend speak, and by doing that, I got you a match. Studd, you’re a big man, I’ll give you that, but my friend is bigger. You could say he’s a GIANT, and he’ll be here next week.” The video ends.
Solie: “There’s only one man who I can think of that fits that description, and that’s Andre the Giant.”
Rude and Studd are shocked and upset by the announcement, and storm off through the curtain.
“Up next is the first of our two semifinal matches in the ACW Heritage Championship tournament, as Brad Armstrong faces the Spoiler.
Brad Armstrong vs The Spoiler
Brad Armstrong defeats the Spoiler by pinfall after hitting his Russian Leg Sweep finisher.
Match notes: Brad Armstrong made quick work of the Spoiler, not allowing any offense from the masked man.
“Armstrong punches his ticket to the ACW Heritage Championship finals. He will face the winner of the next semifinal match between Adrian Adonis and Tracy Smothers, which is up next.”
Tracy Smothers vs Adorable Adrian Adonis
Tracy Smothers defeats Adrian Adonis by disqualification after Adonis failed to heed referee’s orders to stop his attack outside of the ring.
“Adonis is disqualified, and that sets the up the finals for the new ACW Heritage Championship. Brad Armstrong and Tracy Smothers will face off next week to crown the first ever ACW Heritage Champion. Up next, Sgt. Slaughter defends his ACW Television Championship against the Boogie Woogie Man, Jimmy Valiant. Let’s go over to the ring.”
Sgt. Slaughter vs Jimmy Valiant
Sgt. Slaughter defeats Jimmy Valiant by disqualification.
Match Notes: After Valiant and Slaughter started battling outside of the ring, Both men each grabbed a steel chair, swinging on the other. The referee saw Valiant hit Slaughter and called for the bell.
“Both men’s tempers got the best of them, and neither man wanted to back down, unfortunately for Valiant, he gets the DQ, and Slaughter has his third successful retention of the TV title. If Slaughter can successfully defend or retain the TV title seven times, he can trade the TV title in for an opportunity to challenge for the ACW Heavyweight Championship using the Lucky 7 rule. Next week we’ll crown the first ever ACW Heritage Champion, and we’ll announce the first teams who have entered the James Lawrence Memorial Tag Team Tournament. We’ll see everyone next week! Goodnight!!
*Golden Opportunity is my promotion’s version of Money in the Bank.”
