This Thursday/May 4th/Star Wars Day, at the new arena (the Dollar Loan Center) in Henderson where the Henderson Silver Knights play (they are the top farm team for the Vegas Golden Knights) there is a showing of the Empire Strikes Back with a live orchestra. I think I am going to this on Thursday night.

On the May 6th I’m off to the AFI theatre in Silver Springs, Maryland to catch an all day marathon of the OG Star Wars trilogy!

A little more information about this event I have a ticket for tomorrow night:
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Imperial Storm Troopers are preparing to invade the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson.
In honor of Star Wars Day on May 4, 2023, the arena will be holding a showing of “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” with live music from the Henderson Symphony Orchestra. The Empire Strikes Back in Concert begins at 7 p.m.
The journey through the galaxy will include interaction with “Star Wars” costume characters, with authentic merchandise available for purchase at the experience.
Tickets are available here.

In addition to seeing the movie and the orchestra, I am also very interested in finally checking out the Dollar Loan Center Area. Because the venue was specifically built (it just openend in March 2022) for the Henderson Silver Knights who are the top minor league team for the Vegas Golden Knights, it has alot of Medieval architecture and alot of medieval nomenclature/names such as:
Barracks – Club seating (Castle Barracks are #108-110; Royal Barracks are #119-120)
Sam & Ash Battlement – Outdoor Balcony
Chambers – Suites
Hoists – Elevators
King’s and Queen’s Lookouts – Premium Level Triangles
Podiums – Loge
Throne Room – Bathrooms
Tiltyard – Outdoor Plaza
The Valley Health System Royal Landing – Suite Level
The venue also reportedly has some good food too so I an definitely looking forward to tomorrow night.

I went to this event last night on Star Wars Day with two teachers from my high school.
The venue was on the other side of the Valley in Henderson and we got there a couple of minutes late, but I have seen the movie so much that missing the first 2 or 3 minutes was not really a big deal. I wore a Darth Vader shirt but there were lots of fans fully dressed as Star Wars characters (including one fan who was not happy that security would not allow him to bring in his metal lightsaber.)
The Dollar Loan Center Arena venue (located right across from the Green Valley Ranch casino where I used to regularly see movies when I lived in the Green Valley part of Henderson) was very cool and nice, especially for minor league hockey. It is also very new having just opened in March of last year. But the food prices were outrageous (I don't even want to say what I spent on just 2 hot dogs and 2 24 ounce cans of Bud Light.)
Seeing the movie with the live orchestra was great, the orchestra did an outstanding job. When I was in Portugal on Christmas Day 2019, I saw The Rise of Skywalker at a Portuguese movie theater where the movie was in English with Portuguese subtitles. But last night the movie was in English with English subtitles and I don't think I have seen that combination before, perhaps they were worried the orchestra might be too loud for people to hear the dialogue?
I once met David Prowse at a toy convention at the Orleans where he told me that, of the original trilogy, Empire Strikes Back was his favorite. I think it is my favorite too and I had a good time last night.

Seeing they were selling merchandise there makes me wonder if the guy I saw on Pawn Stars recently was there. Not sure when the show originally aired as it was a rerun but he had the prototype Boba Fett that actually shot a missile. He was asking for $175K. Even if he wasn't trying to see it, assuming he still has it, it would be a cool thing to display. Talk about rare and being a Holy Grail of something.

I thought about buying one of those event shirts but didn't after finding out at the concessions at the Silver Knights minor league venue that night cost almost as much as concessions at Golden Knights games at T-Mobile Arena. I thought the concession prices there would be more similar to the prices at the AAA Las Vegas Aviators games.
