At a buddy's house in NC and we decided to get PPV. Not really impressed, Punk was okay, Toni Storm was good, the Bucks winning sucked, Ospreay/Omega was okay. Omega isn't terrible (he might be the only good "Elite" talent) but I've never been blown away by any of his matches.

I get most AEW PPVs, but I skipped Forbidden Door this year and last year. Not a New Japan guy myself. But I know for many this is huge and I'm glad AEW does it. From what I read the Osprey-Omega match was really good and the card was pretty solid. Danielson tapping out Okada is a bit of a shock.

I ended up not ordering this show. Yesterday I flew to Seattle and I got too many texts about what happened that I decided to save the $50 instead of ordering the replay. I will probably order the London PPV though.

I will probably order the London PPV though. Get ready for back to back PPV weeks, with London and then Chicago the next week. I did hear that would be happening, but its gonna be tough trying to build both show and make them both worthwhile. Not impossible though.

Hey, Tony's using ChatGPT....no prob Man the jokes just wrote themselves when he mentioned that. No pun intended. Although I will say that ChatGPT wrote an awesome episode of South Park.

Danielson's "Welcome to the F$%#ing Desert" Hype package convinced me to use it as an excuse to get the boys together for beer and pizza and overall we made a good night out of it. Even had a more casual friend get interested in Japanese wrestling
Some unfortunate sour notes with Tanahashi really showing his age, a NASTY landing by Omega from an Ospreay Tiger Driver, and Danielson hurting his arm and maybe getting a legit stinger from a missile dropkick landing that led to an anitclamctic go-home submission finish.
Omega/Ospreay was really fun dumb-jock soap-opera grudge match that went as excessive as you'd expect. Ospreay gets some great color and does some Anti-Canada crowdwork that would get him stabbed in America (including applying a crippler crossface to audible groans from the crowd). Other positives were the 4-Way and the 10-Man (just solid DragonGate-esque multiman matches with a lot of interconnected story telling and personality), Punk/Kojima (more for Punk's crowd interaction although a solid showing from elder statesman Kojima. If they can work a decent CZW vs ROH out of Collision vs Dynamite they will literally print money if the palpable 50/50 split in this arena is any indication) and Danielson/Okada for entrances alone if nothing else.
Active detriments for us were the Final 6-Man tag being a mess and MJF/Tanahashi just not clicking whatsoever. Feel like if Tana's spot got switched with Naito, Suzuki or (ideally) Shingo a lot of problems get solved even with the card not looking as strong on paper.

I did see some folks question the amount of multiman matches on the show. But its classic New Japan booking from my experience, usually its a couple show case singles matches and a bunch of multimans.
I think Tanahashi worked well in the spot given his legendary status and him being able to take a loss no problem. I never saw early Tanahashi, but I have to assume he was better then. I only first saw him in the Okada series, and while Okada was great, Tanahashi has never appealed to me in the slightest.

The beauty of wrestling - different strokes for different folks! I enjoyed the show. MJF was the perfect opponent for Tanahashi, as he was never going to need to work a higher pace. I thought by contrast, Shane Strickland was a really bad opponent for him on Saturday on Collision.
The Omega/Ospreay match was everything you'd expect it to be. Also, the four way for the international title was superb. Sadly, the crowd were worn out by the time it got to Danielson vs Okada, but the fact Danielson fought ten minutes with a fractured arm and worked that into how they finished was amazing!
