Can I ask what everyone’s interpretation of tag finishers is? Reason I ask is I think I’ve been playing things all wrong! I was looking over some of my old results and I came across an Aethran Ultimate Escape Match I’d played in 2091. The Defenders of the Galaxy beat Unholy Alliance and during the mid part of the match I rolled the DECAPITATOR on Massacre’s card. It lead to a successful escape but in my notes I noticed I had written that Massacre had escaped as a result of the move. It occurred to me that Brute should have been the one escaping perhaps? Presumably Massacre would of tagged Brute, then they perform the DECAPITATOR & this would leave Brute as legal man in & the one escaping.
When I looked back further there were other instances where I had made the same mistake. The mistake having a more specific effect in an Aethran Ultimate Escape match as it meant Massacre would have been left in the cage instead of Brute and thus possibly have an effect on the remainder of the match. In regular tag matches it is still, to a lesser extent, a factor because if they failed with the finisher and I rolled again on level 3 offense I have been re-rolling on Massacre’s card when again Brute is supposed to be legal man in. I know you can tag back to your partner to be on level 3 but being legal man in he should at least go for one move/roll before tagging back out.
How do the rest of you see this? It’s just frustrated me as I have made a bit of a pigs ear of tag finishers and kind of cheapens my fed history knowing I probably haven’t played it out right. Trouble is I can’t really go back and replay matches as it would mess up the continuity/angles.
Thanks Wayne

Hmm, I hadn't thought about that before. I would think the person who rolled the tag finisher (In this case Massacre) would not be the one to make the "Pin", but in that type of match, it could occur I suppose.

normally whoever rolls the move, leaves the ring after the move and the partner takes over.

I'm pretty sure I have the person who rolled the move escape, rather than the partner who comes in as a result of using the tag finisher. Just seems fair to the guy who's done the work up to that point.

Well I can't see this as being an issue. True, by the way the rules are written the wrestler who rolls the tag finisher is no longer the legal man once the finisher has been performed. However, since tag teams on offense can make tags "for free" (not having to roll for them), and the partner comes in on the same offensive level, then once the move is done what's stopping the legal man from tagging out again? In the case of an Ultimate Escape match, since it's in a cage and has no DQ, who's to say that Massacre even TAGS Brute in to execute the DECAPITATOR? Maybe he just tells him to enter the ring, they do the move and Massacre, still being the legal man, escapes the cage leaving his larger partner inside to fight on?

which brings up another point, which I just thought of. Say, Brute escapes, leaving Massacre and say Spike (for argument sake). If Massacre hits his "tag finisher", would the tag finisher really work as with Brute? Or maybe say if it wasn't a fellow Gladiator, say it was Wolf or Thantos or someone else? Would that tag finisher be non existent? I've always wondered that. Also, has anyone ever just subbed a "tag finisher" for like a singles finisher when a tag wrestler is wrestling in singles matches, even if there wasn't one assigned for it instead? Say like making it a (0) finisher? Just curious

I did not think if someone was on level 3 offence and tagged in their partner they would take over on level 3 offence . Is this the official rules ??

it says in the rule book that when you tag out the partner comes in on level 1 offence

wrong, they come in on the same lvl that the partner was on.
8. TAG-TEAM RULES For tag bouts each player chooses two wrestlers prior to the start of a match. Basic rules are the same as in single matches. A wrestler can tag out to his partner at any time when he is on offense. A player may not tag out when he is on defense. <b>His tag partner enters the ring by rolling one die on the same level of offense his partner was on. </b> In tag matches try not to let one wrestler dominate a match. Use reasonable judgment.
