I was just curious, and I haven't checked this out yet, but what is the cost for renting a car these days?

I am in the Red Roof Inn this year. I agree with Pete Beck about the Comfort Inn value for the cost. Besides, you just need a place to sleep...nearly all of your time will be spent at the Con anyway...or eating someplace. ;D

I was just curious, and I haven't checked this out yet, but what is the cost for renting a car these days? depends on the type of car...last year i reserved an economy car (not the smallest, but second smallest...) and of course i got upgraded (for free) because the rental companies do that...but i think it was like $17 a day for the weekend. Total was something around 50 for the three days at a weekend special rate. then of course one fill-up and maybe another quarter tank around Jamestown $45 (buying the cheapest gas you can find...)

I would appreciate it if there are any hotel recommendations. It's still not decided if I am going but the information can be useful.

For price, go to the Red Roof. (Where I'll be this year, too. I tend to flip back and forth.)
For comfort, probably the Radisson (ex-Holiday Inn). I haven't stayed there with it as a Radisson, but of the three places in Jamestown I've stayed for the Con, it was the nicest.
Bear in mind that the Red Roof isn't a dump. It's just basically rooms, vending machines, and a front desk. The Radisson has a lounge, pool, and other amenities (at least if they kept it the way it was when it was a Holiday Inn).

Red Roof is very casual. Biggest downside is you have a bit of a walk if you want something to eat and don't want vending machines.

isn't the Red Roof the closest one to the Con? I was thinking of booking a room there, but I'll have to look into it deeper to decide!?
