 The final card in the Indies Deathmatch 2023 game addition is Australian Deathmatch specialist Joel Bateman. Known as “The Smash Hit” Bateman is an Aboriginal from Australia, and the founder and promoter for Australia’s Premier Deathmatch promotion. A junior heavyweight who wrestled more of a strong style than high flying style, he has shined since focusing on hardcore and deathmatch wrestling. He has held the top deathmatch championships in Australia and New Zealand, as well as winning Australi’a top deathmatch tournament. In Bateman’s US debut he defeated Reed Bentley to win a major American Deathmatch championship. Joel Bateman joins Mickie Knuckles, Sawyer Wreck, Big F’N Joe, Akira, Reed Bentley, Miedo Extremo and Ciclope in the 8 card Indies Death match 2023 game edition. Preorders are now available and cards will ship any day now. |

Three more death match wrestlers in Indy Prime.
Terra Calaway. Signed by me summer of 2012. I believe she was in a poll a year or two ago and was in consideration last year to make Prime. She gets her card now though!
Kennedi Copeland. Signed by me in August of last year. She too came close to getting in last year's set or Prime but was held for this death match set.

This past Summer I got in touch with Joel Bateman who is the promoter for Australia's deathmatch fed Death Match Down Under (DMDU) which broadcasts their shows on IWTV. I was able to get the signed release form returned right before I left for my weeklong trip to the Midwest for Glacticon in July.
As alluded to in tonight's announcement, Bateman has held DMDU's World Deathmatch Championship and in 2022 he won DMDU's annual D.R.E.A.M. deathmatch tournament. The title he won from Reed Bentley was the ICW American Deathmatch World Championship and he later also won that title from Eric Ryan to become the first and only 2-time ICW American Deathmatch World Champion.
In DMDU, Joel Bateman has teamed multiple times with Charli Evans who is going to be at a show here in Las Vegas this Saturday and I am hoping to talk to her about the game. And if I get that chance, I will definitely show her this card art of Joel Bateman.

Interesting note, If you include the PP cards as part of this set then it features the 3 singles winners of Tremonts Deathmatch Tournament. Kennedi Copeland won the 1st,Sawyer Wreck won the 3rd and Mickie Knuckles won the 4th this past weekend.
TDMT2 was a tag team tournament won by Ross and Bradley

As for this cycle's Indie Prime cards that were announced earlier tonight:
I signed Markus Crane at the very first GCW show I attended which was in March 2019 in Los Angeles. On that show, Markus Crane took on Shlak in a deathmatch. On his card, there is a mechanic for that signature red light tube bundle (I won't type the name of that red lighttube bundle here on the board) seen in his card art to come into play during the match.
Terra Calaway, the wife of Jeff Cannonball, retired earlier this year due to pregnancy so I am glad we were able to get her card released now while she was recently active.
And we were of course definitely looking to make sure Kennedi Copeland was released this cycle in either the set or in Indies Promoter Prime.

Really good names to round off the set and PP. Love that we are able to add Markus Crane, and Calaway as well, with both no longer active for very different reasons. Great work on this set everyone. Looking forward to receiving and getting to use the cards now
