I hope they adjust or remove the mechanic on Gang's finisher from the B&W card. It killed him in my fed. Same for me. I still use him because he's one of my favorites. |

I think that’s now the general consensus with him. We were talking about it Friday on grants discord board. I think we’ll see the legends team make the adjustment |

According to Bruce Prichard (so take it for what that's worth), Vince expected Terry Taylor to be cocky like a rooster, and strut showing off his arrogance, but not to be a literal rooster. But Taylor was unable to see the end goal or evolve it into something he was comfortable with. Taylor really hadn't been over since UWF, so it's not like he would have gotten over in WWF without a gimmick. Considering he was just OK as Terrance Taylor in the York Foundation, I doubt he could have ran with The Model or Mr. Perfect gimmicks wither. For a good take on being a rooster, see the fictional Heels wrestler Rooster Robbins, who played it like MVP- an arrogant franchise player.Exactly what occurred between at least one of Terry Taylor’s parents and a farm animal that turned him into an oversized rooster? |

Regarding the outrage over TL Hopper, The Goon, Duke Droese, and other bad gimmicks of the time, those guys were hired as jobber to the stars; Vince wanted to make them seem more special as opposed to plain 80s jobbers. They were never figured in. IMHO it's not that different from AEW's Pretty Peter and Hollywood Hunk. The few that really impressed Vince were repackaged (Sparky Plugg, Isaac Yankem, etc.) Can't really blame Vince because other occupational gimmicks like Big Bossman, Tugboat, IRS, Mountie, Doink, Roadie etc. actually worked.
I'm not defending it, just explaining why he did it. Obviously fans rejected it and the IWC turned to ECW, which then morphed into the Attitude Era. So we kinda needed this cheesy stuff to have an alternative.
That nostalgia lives on in Face to the Mat's America Wrestling Federation as there are lots of occupational gimmicks.

He'll never stop trying to justify it or blaming Terry's bad attitude for its failure. |

The way Bruce explains the character, that makes a lot of sense and is easy to understand. It's not a great character, but it's better than a human chicken. What doesn't make a lick of sense is if that was the vision of the character not a soul explaining it to Taylor. It feels very much like backing into an explanation in order to plant the blame on the performer rather than the creative.
