AEW Tag Team champion Daniel "Cash" Wheeler has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm in Florida. Link to the WrestleTalk articleHe is, of course innocent until proven guilty, but just from a timing and optics perspective, this is awful.

Hard to get info right now. Orlando Sentinel was the first to report and it looks like they have the details in their story. However after being on their site a few seconds it pops up with the pay to read box. It looks like it was a road rage incident. Not sure who the aggressor might have been. But since it was in FL, depending on what Wheeler did he might get off with stand your ground. If not, while bad it is not horrible. Not like using the gun in a domestic battery situation.

Here's what I've been able to find:
CASH WHEELER ARRESTED, CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH FIREARM
Daniel Wheeler, better known to wrestling fans as Cash Wheeler of FTR, was arrested this morning by the Orlando Police Department and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. The news was broken by the Orlando Sentinel newspaper which added that Wheeler was booked at Circuit Court and had a $2,500 bond. The count is a third degree felony and punishable by up to five years in prison. The arrest info says that the incident happened on July 27 and he pleaded not guilty a week later on August 4. Responding to media comments, an AEW spokesperson said, "AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. He is fully cooperating with local authorities." FTR, currently the AEW Tag Team champions, are supposed to wrestle The Young Bucks next week in London at All In.
CASH WHEELER ARRAIGNED TODAY
Cash Wheeler appeared at his arraignment earlier today at the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in central Florida in front of Judge Mark S Blechman along with his attorney Brice Aiken as he was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. Wheeler, sporting a shiner on his eye and a bruise on his forehead, allegedly flashed his handgun at his victim which the state said was "a road rage-type of incident." His attorney stated that he does not know "who these people are" and he hasn't seen the affidavit. With no criminal past, his bond was set at $2,500 at the request of his attorney and the judge agreed with no objections from prosecution. The judge also said that Wheeler must turn over any weapons which the Orlando PD did not confiscate yet and he must do so within 12 hours of his release. Wheeler was also ordered to stay away from the victim(s).
AFFIDAVIT IN CASH WHEELER CASE PUBLISHED
The sworn affidavit by the victim in the Cash Wheeler aggravated assault with a firearm incident has been published by the Orange County Clerk. Written by police officer M. Bohway, the affidavit states that the victim, Daniel Matta, was driving when a Jeep Gladiator was driving erratically honking its horn to let him pass. After Matta moved over to let the Jeep pass, Wheeler pointed a black semi-automatic handgun out of the driver's window at him along with a strong stare. Matta then called 911 and was met by another police officer who presented him with a line up of photos to try and identify the accused. The affidavit says that he quickly selected Wheeler with 100% certainty.
While Cash Wheeler doesn't have any travel restrictions on him that doesn't mean that he'll be allowed into the United Kingdom due to the pending charge. I'm not sure how the laws in the United Kingdom work, but I do know he probably won't be allowed back into Canada until this charge either processes or is dropped.

He should be OK for the entering the uk as he pleaded not guilty and I assume he will be entering the uk under "traveling for work" If he was found guilty or entered a guilty plea before it then it would be a different story but I think he should be OK for next week

He should be OK for the entering the uk as he pleaded not guilty and I assume he will be entering the uk under "traveling for work" If he was found guilty or entered a guilty plea before it then it would be a different story but I think he should be OK for next week Each DUI in WWE that has prevented a talent from entering Canada the defendant plead Not Guilty or No Contest and wasn't allowed into Canada until after the court issue had resolved. I'm not an expert on any laws by no means, but this could charge could prevent Wheeler from entering the UK. A quick Google search revealed this: In the United Kingdom, for example, individuals with criminal records are encouraged to seek entry clearance prior to travel. Clearance will ordinarily be denied for “conviction in any country including the United Kingdom of an offense which, if committed in the United Kingdom, is punishable with imprisonment for a term of twelve months or any greater punishment or, if committed outside the United Kingdom, would be so punishable if the conduct constituting the offense had occurred in the United Kingdom.” U.K. Imm. R. 320(18). Cash Wheeler has been charged, but hasn't been convicted yet, so he could lawfully be denied entry into the United Kingdom. As I said in my previous post if I was Tony Khan I would have my lawyers looking into this immediately and figure out exactly how to proceed, right now I honestly don't see FTR v Young Bucks happening in Wembley. The match will either get pushed up to Dynamite or Rampage this week or next, or pushed back to All Out the following week on PPV. There is still time for Tony to give the Bucks another opponent for Wembley.

Here is what I would like to know. Why did the police already have a picture of him? Especially so readily available as it sounds like the officer meet the driver somewhere on the road. Makes me think there is a bit more to this story.
