I see that Hurricane Hilary (now a tropical storm I think) is currently battering California after going through Baja California in Mexico.
I hope Grant, Shane, and everyone else here in that area makes it through the storm OK. I saw that Southern California also got hit wth a 5.1 earthquake today too.
According to its path trajectory, Hilary is headed here to Las Vegas too. It sounds like we are going to get some heavy rain accompanied by flooding (flash floods are not unusual in Las Vegas.) I should be oK though as I am staying home in my 2nd floor condo, I stocked up on canned food, and I have my cell phone charged in case there is a loss of power.

So far not much rain here and it looks like the storm shifted a little so it may nit hit Las Vegas after all.
Now that I typed that, we'll probably get hit really hard with flooding.

Would like some of that rain to hit the midwest and maybe break the heat for a bit. Take care, Zeke.

Las Vegas got lucky as Hilary mostly spared the city but some of the nearby surrounding areas got lots of water such as 8 inches of rain in both Lee and Kyle canyons and over 3 inches of rain at the Red Rock Visitor Center which is very close to my area of town.
In class today, for Current Events, we discussed Hilary, the dangers of flash floods, and the space race between the US, Russia, China, and India to get to the South Pole of the Moon.

We were prepared here at our new house in Burbank but overall it was pretty mild and grateful for such. Of course just to show what California is made of, we had an earthquake in the middle of the storm, but even that was very mild. Also our state activated the earthquake early warning system for the first time and we got notice right as the earthquake was starting. Thought that was pretty cool.
Glad to hear the West Coast Warriors made it through okay.
