I started rolling a new fed this summer and now that it's been going strong for two months, it's time to post my results. The Decades Wrestling Association, or DWA, is a single fed with four simultaneous timelines: 1963, 1973, 1983, and 1993. I am only planning to use color legends cards, but I will leave open the possibility of bringing in official black and white cards or even selected bootlegs on occasion.
Each decade will feature one house show a month, similar to monthly territories like the WWF running MSG. As much as possible, I try to keep the cards realistic with 1 or 2 opening bouts, 2 or 3 mid-card bouts, and 1 or 2 main event caliber bouts. Before running each card, I use cagematch.com and wrestlingdata.com to find wrestlers who actually competed in North America during that given month. Also, the only tag teams I plan to use are those who actually were a team during that month. So far I'm finding the research to be almost as fun as playing the matches.
I will pick up the action in July of '63, '73, '83, and '93, and I have pre-selected the following champions:
1963: Lou Thesz and The Fabulous Kangaroos
1973: Jack Brisco and Ray Stevens/Nick Bockwinkel
1983: Bob Backlund and The Fabulous Ones
1993: Big Van Vader and Marcus Bagwell/2 Cold Scorpio
I'm not putting much emphasis on building storylines, so my updates will feature match results from each card without much, if any, elaboration. I hope you enjoy this ride through different decades of wrestling history!
