Hi folks. I've been thinking about the current ratings systems and whether any alternatives can be offered.
I should start by saying that I play exclusively online and that I use information that I think is exclusively found in the gallery section.
Secondly my feds are all a work so far as I'm concerned and the following ideas don't make any sort of sense if for you the fighting is real.
The online gallery gives you the position on the card that a given wrestler occupies (Main Event, Upper Midcard, Midcard, Lower Midcard & Opener).
It stands to reason (to me at least) that the higher up the card the more entertaining that wrestlers matches will be (that's why the promoter put them in the main event spot).
So idea one is to apply * to each position (***** for Main Eventers down to * for Openers). Add the * of the wrestlers together and divide by participants.
e.g. in 2087 Thantos (Main Event) faces Massif (Midcard) so it's (5*+ 3*)/2 = 4* This is the par score for the match. Add * for a feud match and another * for a title match.
Then roll the match as normal and as per the most common rating systems recommended on this forum each token = ½*
Finally average out the par score with the score from the rolled match.
So, imagine that in 2087 Thantos & Massif have a match for the Galaxian Title. The par score will be 5* (lots of excitement from the fans for this one). You roll the match and end up with 7 tokens, therefore 3½*. The average of 5* and 3½* is 4¼* and this is the match rating.
Obviously this system doesn't produce any DUD results. Any match that ends on a DQ or countout without any tokens I count as DUDs.
To avoid having too many high rated matches I don't add a token to a match when the final pin roll is equal to the wrestler's initial Pin (e.g. 2 for Thantos or 4 for Commander Sam). If the match ends on the 1st pin roll and the result is below the wrestler's Pin, I deduct the difference in *.
Say Thantos faces Commander Sam (Lower Midcard) in a non-title match the par would be 3½*. Thantos quickly slaps on the Masterlock and Sam rolls a 2. As this is 2 below his pin the match has a rating of -2*. Average this with the par score of 3½* gives an actual rating of ¾* (very disappointed fans).
