I could see a b&w set of this being an auction item for charity or something, rather than selling in the store. Would definitely get a lot of bids and go for an obscene amount for a good cause. I have nothing but respect for you Ray, but this is a terrible idea. A large part of the COTG community wants this set as a BW 'option' and if it were done as you suggested.... It would allenoate and sour an already kinda disgruntled group. IMO

Never a bad idea when auction money is going to a good cause.
But I agree that only one set would not be fair.
Make it 2 or 3.

Like, a decent number of fans of COTG have expressed a desire for this, well over just 2 or 3, which really this thread was just created by me to see if I was all alone on B&W EC ‘74-‘75 island. I guess my question is, what is to be gained by not exploring this option on a wider scale? Setting a limit of days you can preorder it in B&W and printing like 10% more than were ordered - so you can still auction off, or have enough to cover lost or damaged shipments. Anyone who knows me knows that I support the TNTHOF (lifetime member, buy something at almost ever auction; go to Waterloo every year since I got back into the games; and have plans for four more card two packs that, coupled with the first that raised $800, could raise close to $4,000 for the good cause), but I gotta say that this would just seem like the opposite of a successful business model, imo. Again, please don’t think me rude, but I just am confused by the “why” behind going the route you and Justin Case are expressing support of. Can you explain better to me, please?

Because right now the answer to whether there will be an option for b/w sets is a “No.” Todd explained that this reasoning because they are focused on getting the planned 20 card set out to customers (not to mention installed online for COTGOnline players) by their assigned deadline. Completely understandable considering the massive amount of editing this set will require (both handbook & cards). Right now the best you have is a “maybe we will look into it in the future”. So since there are no plans to offer EC in black and white — until there is (if there ever is) - why not auction off a small number of sets to satisfy the hungriest appetites in the meantime? This would require a small workload from the crew while offering a much wanted prize for fans. I think the opportunity to own one of the 1st 3 or 5 black and white sets would fetch quite the bidding war. And if they never get around to making and offering EC in b/w, then you own a serious rare gem in the community. Plus the money goes to the HOF. So definitely better than nothing.

Your interpretation seems different than ehat mine is regarding what has been posted. I see it as a not right now. Not a “no forever.” Not right now could mean in the Cycle 3 of ‘24 or Cycle 1 of ‘24 which are typically lighter cycles than 2 and 4. That is all and to the fans who maybe cannot afford to win an item in the auction - why not offer the cards in B&W later with a portion of the sales going to the TNTHOF? I would gladly pay what the full color option is for B&W if I knew a portion over production costs was going to the hall. Just saying it is an interesting discussion and the desire is absolutely there for these, which makes me happy.

If you run 1-5 sets, doesn't that mean the labor on the cards is complete?? All on printer now, correct?
Why would you ever pay a printer for 1-5 sets?? That makes absolutely no scents..
Besides, when have you ever cared about the 'good cause'? All I ever remember is you putting the T&T H.O.F. down, snidely saying 'Well. it only cost 10k to sign Pat Patterson.'

Look, do it or don't do it - I don't care anymore. I just thought it was a good and doable idea. If you were at Galaticon, then you get the power of the B&W Krakan card with BANK$ art. It was easily the best con exclusive card I ever got. Kudos Mike M
