With the unveiling of the first teaser from the reimagined Early Classics 2074-2075, the Filsinger Games world is abuzz. This was similar for those of us that saw the first "teaser" art that Mike M revaled at July's Galacticon in Waterloo, IA of some uncolored art (B&W ink only) for Ricken Prince I, not wanting to speak for everyone in attendance, was just blown away by the Daryl Banks art.
That July "teaser" coupled with the amazing B&W art Invincible Krakan from Origins 2139 that was given out as an exclusive for those promoters who attended in person, it got me thinking of something, immediately, that I discussed with other promoters while still at GCON, and has come up her on the boards earlier in the Early Classics thread on this very board. That thought is: WHY NOT MAKE EARLY CLASSICS 2074-2075 AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN B&W AS WELL?
Now, I know we have moved to color, and I know that it is probably cost prohibitive to print a similar run size in B&W as we do for a normal color set. However, what if there was a LIMITED TIMEFRAME for promoters to preorder, save FIVE DAYS after the preorder period opens, for example, if Preorder Day is Black Friday this year (November 24) they would have until TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, to place their order for a B&W set of Early Classics 2074-2075, almost like a mini-kickstarter. That way, FG is not stuck with a huge number of B&W sets that only fans who have been playing for close to 30 years, or more, would be interested in. It would also give FG a STRONG estimate of how many games to produce and only produce that number. While I do not wish to speak for many other promoters, speaking for my crazy self, I'll absolutely buy a copy of the color edition as well, knowing that the Pro Prime cards for Cycle 4 are related to the EC 2074-2075 set, and it won't work for my OCD mind to have 20 B&W cards, and three color cards to use.
So TOM , and Mike M, what do you say to that idea? Other promoters from the FG community, OG players, am I alone on B&W EC Reimagined island, or are there others here with me?
