Well it looks like Hell has frozen over because the school UNLV were I got my Masters in History and later my teaching license from is hosting the MWC Championship game next Saturday for the first-time ever.
UNLV has never won a conference championship in college football and their 9 wins this season is the most they have had in a year in 39 years (they won 11 games back in 1984.)
Boise State is going for their 7th MWC Championship despite only being in MWC since 2010. UNLV again is going for their first-ever MWC Championship.
Barry Odom has done a great job at UNLV in his first year as a coach and I am sure he will receive some great offers form other schools once this season is over. But I am still hoping that UNLV is turning a corner now that they have Allegiant Stadium as their home venue.
I will be going to this game and it will actually be my first college football game I have attended since 2016.

This will be my first time at Allegiant Stadium since I attended Summerslam 2021. The coworker I am going to the game with tomorrow also went to UNLV and before that he went to Oregon who is actually playing Washington tonight in the PAC-12 Conference Championship game that also takes place at Allegiant Stadium here in Las Vegas. He is going to tonight's game too so he could possibly see both of his schools win conference championships on back to back days here in Las Vegas.

I just got back from today's game at Allegiant Stadium. The game was depressing as we lost by 24 points and UNLV should have lost by even more (we got lucky with a Pick 6 and Boise State had a wide-open wide receiver drop a catch right in front of the end zone so we could have easily lost by 30 some points today.)
Boise State was the better team today and they remain the class of the conference.
But, despite being blown out today, there is reason for optimism regarding UNLV's future as we won 9 games for the first time since at least the mid-1980s and made it to our first-ever Mountain West Conference Championship game. Our new head coach seems to have the program moving in the right direction and playing our home games in Allegiant Stadium on the Strip certainly does not hurt with recruiting.
Next year, the Mountain West is scheduling 5-6 games each with next year's PAC 2 teams Washington State and Oregon State so if Washington State (where, like UNLV, I also have a degree from) plays here in Las Vegas then I will definitely go to that game or possibly even go see UNLV at Washington State (depending on my finances- we finally have an arbitrator for our contract situation at work- and the date of the game as I have not been to Pullman since 1999.)

Sorry they lost but like you said, they are headed in the right direction. Also sorry for your friend who saw both of his schools lose this weekend. I believe the agreement is for a few years so there is a good chance you will see Washington State in Vegas if not next season in one of the next few.

Sorry to hear that the Rebels lost. Still making their first conference championship game appearance is progress; you have to crawl before you can walk. Hopefully they can build on that momentum in the next few years.
Here's a question for you: When Washington State and UNLV do play each other who will you be rooting for to win?

Here's a question for you: When Washington State and UNLV do play each other who will you be rooting for to win? Last year at the MGM Grand, in college basketball, I actually saw Washington State play UNLV (it was part of a doubleheader with the other game being Indiana vs Arizona.) UNLV won that game and that may have been the outcome I slightly preferred at that particular time as it allowed UNLV to remain undefeated but overall I was really not cheering for either school over the other.

Looks like that UNLV might be in better shape without Sluka. Syracuse and Boise State should make for interesting opponents though.
