Greetings. I just got the original 16 SHIMMER set. I wanted to run a championship tournament but didn't want to go the route of just simple elimination brackets and round robin. What would be a different and exciting tournament to crown my first SHIMMER champion?? Any and all ideas are awesome!

Double elimination is always fun. Gives you more matches for rankings afterwards too. If not a tournament a battle royale for the vacant title perhaps? I like to use a battle royal to set the matches for that show. Such as the first person eliminated wrestles the next person tossed and so on. That could be a way to determine the first round of the tournament.

Try a battle royal or a 8 match battle royal.

A double elimination tournament means you have to lose twice to be eliminated. You can find brackets online that show you where to drop each wrestler down into the loser's bracket. You play out both tournaments, the loser's bracket winner then faces the wrestler that won the top bracket. The wrestler with 1 loss needs to win two falls to win the championship.

As I said on your Facebook post. I like a good old Round Robin, there are numerous ways to run one. I am currently running 8 Divisional Round Robins to crown both the MFWrestling World and MFWrestling Womens Champion.
I kinda wish I broke them down further to two groups of 6 instead of 12 and 10 rounds.
You can also award points for wins and take away points for certain loses. I made the decision to keep things simple with 2 pts for a win and 1 each for a tie.
I did debate on removing a point if a wrestler was disqualified, but ultimately decided against that.
Take the Continental Classic in AEW as an example, they are awarding 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.

You could run a single gauntlet match with all 16 participating in random draw order.
A late entrant is likely to win the gauntlet. You can mitigate that effect by matching the winner versus the wrestler who eliminated the most opponents. Winner of that match gets the strap.
