I've been watching this quite a bit lately, reminiscing - it's what I grew up with. Georgia into WCW.
Just a few thoughts...
MAGNUM TA was SO BADASS, he made you believe a BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX was a legit finisher. He was such a good 'intense' interview.
RONNIE GARVIN... come on man, lighten up on the enhancement talent. There's no need to beat poor Tony Zane's chest bloody. He brutalized many of the enhancement talent.
ROAD WARRIORS in reality were just muscle heads with no real in ring talent. I just saw Hawk try to press slam a guy and his left arm buckled and he dropped the guy on his head. They were reckless, with no idea how to sell. I have such fond memories of them, but sometimes things are best left to memory.
NIKITA KOLOFF following DUSTY to ring for the cage match against Ole and J.J. was the loudest POP referee Tommy Young said that he EVER heard.

On the Road Warriors, they came along at the right time, booked in a way that made him look so cool. it didn't really matter that they weren't good workers. Similar to Goldberg a decade later.
Sure it doesn't really hold up but it wasn't meant to.

The Roadies had a few hot moves (TM Dave Meltzer), a great look, and in Georgia and JCP were generally booked to their strengths. They do have good matches and good performances. But, yeah, they definitely only work when booked in a certain way.
Oddly enough, I think they improve when they learn that it can actually more badass to sell first and then make a superman comeback, instead of just bulldozing everybody. Sounds counterintuitive but all of the great monster workers--Vader, Yokozuna at his peak, Undertaker at his peak, Andre--were excellent sellers. The Roadies not so much but I do like their matches with the Midnights when they actually let Bobby & Dennis have some runs on offense.
Vince McMahon, oddly enough, clearly never had ANY idea how to present the Roadies properly. Actually, another hot take of mine is I think they lost a huge part of their aura when they added the spiked shoulder pads.

Tully was a master, a wrestling machine.
Though it didn't really showcase his in ring ability, his I QUIT MATCH with Magnum in the cage is one of the most memorable matches in wrestling history. For those of us olllld enough to have seen it. Lol

I was not a fan of Tully until years later I saw the I Quit match and mad respect for what he went through in that match.

Magnum T.A., the greatest "what if" in wrestling history. Who knows what JCP would've become with him as the top babyface? If you haven't already, you should listen to Tony Schiavone's podcast. They comb through old WCW episodes. There's a lot of toilet humor which can be excessive at times but Tony has some great behind-the-scenes stories of late 80's NWA.

What JCP would have become? Sold to Turner....Magnum wasn't going to jumpstart the business so much that it would make up for the reckless spending that put them in the situation in the first place. Magnum himself said he'd have likely jumped to the WWF at some point likely to battle Hogan. Jim Cornette has pointed out that even with the loss of Magnum that they were still doing great business but they'd eventually start going to places outside their major fanbase, they'd buy those territories only to get very little out of them and eventually they'd listen to Ted Turner and sell out.

WTF?!? Is what poor Brodie Chase has to be thinking.
Ease up there RONNIE GARVIN!!!... DAMN!
Why did they let the hands of stone continuously brutalize the enhancement talent like that?

Magnum would have done what every other Friend of Dusty's ever did, which was turn on him and spend a few months to a year running into the Bionic Elbow. Not his fault but I'm pretty much a Magnum skeptic/cynic because I don't think Dusty and Crockett and Flair realized what they really had.
The hard truth is the classic NWA Champion model doesn't work for a national company when the champion is a constant on television. It works when the champ comes to your territory 1-3 times a year and sometimes less than that. Dusty and Crockett didn't realize it at the time. Flair didn't realize it. Cornette's never realized it. I don't believe Triple H or Tony Khan realize it now. The model of a heel champion constantly escaping by the skin of his teeth needed to either be altered or abandoned.

Here is a What If for Magnum. He jumps ship to WWF and gets in a fight with Randy Savage over Elizabeth. They could milk that for at least a year and probably more.
