I saw a jobber... uh... enhancement talent named Ray Traylor do a couple pin me - pay me jobs. One against Black Bart!!! The things you miss in real time back in 1986, huh? Has Jim Cornette ever spoken on how Big Bubba Rogers came to be? I'm sure he has; I've just never heard it. Was his idea, Dusty's or someone else in JCP?

The story is that when everyone saw Traylor--who was barely even trained--go up seamlessly for Tully's slingshot suplex like he was a seasoned pro, even at 300+ pounds, the call was made to pull him off television and do something with him.
I'm assuming the gimmick was Dusty's idea because he re-used the professional-bodyguard-in-a-shirt-and-tie gimmick afterward with Mr. Hughes and then again with Meng.

Here is a What If for Magnum. He jumps ship to WWF and gets in a fight with Randy Savage over Elizabeth. They could milk that for at least a year and probably more. I always thought Magnum vs. Rick Rude would print money too.

What would Magnum's WWF name have been? You know Vince would change it.
Perhaps he could be called Terrence Magnum like Thomas Magnum, just like Magnum T.A. was a play on Magnum P.I.

I always thought Magnum vs. Rick Rude would print money too. If I was booking it I would book Magnum vs Savage over Elizabeth with her ending up with Magnum and then Rude flirting with her leading to his feud with Magnum. That or Elizabeth stays with Savage, Rude hits on her, Savage gets "beaten up" by Rude so Magnum comes in to defend Elizabeth from Rude only for it to be a trap and Savage and Rude jump Magnum. Then Magnum feuds with both.

One thing from watching the old NWA I appreciate now that I didn’t then was the boogie woogie man Jimmy Valiant! Yeah he wasn’t much of a worker but damn them promos!

The RUDE AWAKENING a DDT in WCW, I'm sure that changed when he went to the WWF and Jake being there.
The AWESOME TWO-SOME was one of the greatest short lived tag teams in history. IMO
The NWA world tag team belts they had were the best ever, silver with the gold eagle. There're no good reference photos on the net of those belts.

I like how Mid-Atlantic gave interview time to the job.....um... enhancement talent. MOST looked like deers caught in headlights and were not much in talking a promo, but hey you have to start somewhere. You grew up with this stu, did you enjoy this touch? I just saw an interview with an enhancement talent tag team of BUDDY LANDEL (black hair) and an afro sporting TONY ANTHONY. Classic!

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about Mid-Atlantic, not the least of which were touches like that. I think the trick with MACW was that the announcers (Bob Caudle primarily, for me at least in the '70's) took it completely seriously, and never once let the audience know they were in on the act (Solie did this too). So, even though by the end of the height of my fandom I was starting to see the whole "choreography" of it all, I still could buy in to it, to a large extent. I'm sure others have had similar experiences for their favorite territories, but it made it special for me, for Mid Atlantic.
