Preface: Well folks, Next Generation is back. I realize it has been
some time since the last issue, lack of time and busy schedule will be my
excuse for that. But hopefully, I can get things back on the road like
they were last summer under the leadership of Joe as the editor. As
always, I would encourage the rest of you to submit, because there would
be no NG without you. Meanwhile, enjoy this issue!

Exo-King and Jack of Diamonds upon their arrival in the GWF. later, they
permit Exo-King to manage them as they fued with Theatre of Pain.lancelot
is the older brother, a more experienced fighter, and is taller and
darker-haired, with a beard. He comes to the ring in chain-mail and a
blue tunic. His finisher is Excalibur, a tombstone piledriver. Galahad is
younger and fair-haired. He smiles more than his brother. Like him, he
wears chainmail to ringside. His singles finisher is the Broadsword, the
same move that Raven uses. The brothers' tag finisher is the Joust: with
the opponent in the center of the ring, the Crusaders bounce off the
opposite ropes and double clothesline the foe.

2. Promoter Articles
A. 2108 Review by Aaron Luke (UTacolY1@aol.com)
Since 2109 is due out this week, I deceided to reveiew CPC 2108
I will start with the Special Edition Cards:
Alpha Force
--The downgrading of Alpha Force's Stats continue and Bendis
Art makes this card even harder to stomach Grade: D-
Chaos
--A few more defensive tags and slightly worse agility are the
Story here and as an added Bonus, Mr Bendis does yet another
horrid job drawing Chaos...Average card Grade: C
Lance At-Las
--Nice to see Lance back...Great art and Lance's stats are barely
Changed from his first card...Good to have him back Grade: B
Greg Valentine
--Good Art by Bendis plus well balanced stats make Valentine
A very solid wrestler in the At-Las mode Grade: B
So as far as the special edition cards go, At- Las and Valentine
Are good buys....Get Chaos and Alpha Force only if you plan
To use them as a tag team
Regular cards from 2108
U. S. Traitor
--Basically a transition card for the former Adam Blast...Makes
him more of a tag wrestler...Good art by Jeremy Su...Solid
Card Grade: B
Maelstorm
Great Art by Su...Average stats...but he is a rookie so he will
Get better...Good tag wrestler Grade : C (but he will get better)
The Code Enforcers
--My Favorite Cards in the set both the Power and Agile
Enforcer are Great wrestlers and the Art for Both are awesome
Grade : A+
Twin Blood (Dreggs/Sleeze)
--Another pair of great wrestlers...stats make them (in my
Opinion) the best tag team in the GWF...and Jeremy Su's
Art is ,again, stunning. Grade : A+
Dreadnaught
--Great Art but that is the only good thing to say here....
The death chart on the back of the card tells you all you need to
Know abot Dreadnaught's stats and status in the GWF
A fun card none the less.
Grade : F (just on stat basis,he should of retired)
Lorelei
--Standard Manager Card...Good Art Grade : C
Buck Steele
--His Stats are weaker..however he can change into
Genocide easier plus the art is good Grade : B-
Mike Fortune
--Decent card art by Bendis plus he has a really well
Balanced card...definite potential to get better considering
His rookie status in the GWF Grade: B
All in all, CPC 2108 is a great set and,in my opinion,
The best set in the CPC seris...This set is well worth your
money
B. REVIEW OF INVASION 2090 by Warren Fitzpatrick
(warrenfitzpatrick@citynet.net)
It's been awhile since I've done this, so I figure I'd better get my
backside in gear and get all the reviews out there!
Layout
2090 dropped the alphabetical listing of characters in favor of the way
the
booklet had been done in the original (with everyone listed under their
'group'). I must admit a preference for this way, even if I don't
normally
hold to the 'groups', it makes things easier to find as you are playing.
RATING: B+
Matches
That's right, Tom gave us some great matches as part of the set (though
they
lack the chart used for the newer matches). Specifically, one of my
favorite of ALL time - Torture Chamber. This match single-handedly
revolutionized my fed and gave Wolf a stranglehold on the title (that he
was
holding in my fed at the time). The other new match was the 'gimmick'
match
of "hitman" match. It wasn't as revolutionary for my fed, especially
since
Krakan never won any of his "specialty" matches.
RATING: B (A for the TC and C for the Hitman)
Wrestlers
This set was the beginning of updates to the wrestlers. Star Warrior
came
out with the most devestating finisher in GWF history. His stats pulled
him
out as a major threat to Thantos. Pulsar grew up to go PRIME time. He
went
from a kid, to a veteran in those few years and truly became a contender
with anyone. Krakan developed a gimmick that would stick until his
retirement AND AFTER - he became a hitman going to the highest bidder.
Terak received a much needed improvement and a HUGE improvement in the
art.
Death Masque came out of Death Knight - nuff said! Sure, he still lacked
any agility, but those finishers made him a competitor. The BIGGEST
adjustment went to the most devestating tag team in the GWF and made them
EVEN MORE dangerous - the Gladiators. Tom also intro'd some newbies to
the
GWF mythos. Matter and AntiMatter brought a 'scientific' edge to the
GWF.
Mitsuko joined up with Genghis Khan to form the Eastern Dynasty. THis
set
had some nice changes to the characters and allowed us to see the GWF
grow
and age for the first time.
RATING: A-
Artwork
This sets art continued to be Chuck Carter. He's a classic and defined
the
look for the game. My personal favorites are Pulsar Prime, Massacre, and
BY
FAR - Krakan (this character was always drawn best by Carter).
RATING: B+
Overall Story
Tom went to town aging the GWF and the growth definitely added to the
gameplay. The Hitman was sheer genious and really brought Krakan to the
forefront. The Cleansing helped define the Aethran people even more and
allowed us to get a glimpse of their mentality - something that
DEFINITELY
increased gameplay. And the Galactic Punisher going solo fit his
character
(moreso as his story developed). I only have 2 major complaints with how
the storyline flowed. Terak/Renegade joining the Titans always seemed
like
a forced situation. And of course, Pulsar NEVER fit in with the
Champions
of the Galaxy. He was a titan through and through and this 'graduation'
to
the big time really degraded what the titans were to me. It made it
appear
that the Titans were a minor league "farm" team that one worked with
until
he could make on the Champions.
RATING: B
As a set, 2090 was good. It added to the mythos in some ways certainly.
It
had its problems but those were never in the way of the enjoyment of the
game. The great thing about CotG is that if I disagree with a direction
Tom
took a character, I could eliminate it. This of course is based on my
opinion and in my opinion INVASION 2090 rates...
RATING: B+

3. Promoter Spotlight
Mike Delve (mikefortune@hotmail.com)
10 years ago the first convention in Jamestown happened. 10 years
later
only four people who have attentend all the conventions Tim Dalton, Kirk
Campbell, Mark Ashby and myself rounds out the fourth person. In these
10
years that have passed I have met a lot of great people and have had many
memorable moments. Some of these people have become some of my best
friends. Tim Dalton is the Godfather of my daughter and we visit each
other
during the year. A group of us 5 to be exact have come to be very close
friends created the now infamous nGo. Three years ago Tom Filsinger and
myself put together GalactiCan, A Canadian convention and to my suprise
a
few of the American conventioneers showed up. Two GalactiCans and 10
conventions later the COTG has spawned friendships that cross boarders,
has
spinoff characters that people make, websites and conventions. If you
are
a game fan I do recommend to try to show up to a convention you will have
a
great two days of wrestling and friendship that can last for years.

4. Fight Card of the Promoter
GWF Survivor Series by Ty States (tystates@pop.erols.com)
DEATH MATCH TOURNY SEMIFINALS
Code Enforcer vs. Mayhem (Torture Chamber)
These two kick off the card with a brutal battle inside the titanium
cage. Mayhem continues to fight back, but the Code Enforcer was in
control most of the match, and he advances to the finals. Mayhem will be
out of action for about 2 weeks due injury.
DEATH MATCH TOURNY SEMIFINALS
Spike vs. Heracles (Torture Chamber)
The other semifinal match was just as bloody as the first if not more so.
Spike had things well in hand, but Heracles would not go down. He beat
Spike down almost enough to keep him down for the 10-count. Spike though
dug deep down inside and had enough to finish off Heracles to reach the
finals. Heracles will be out of action about as long as Mayhem.
Woman's Survivor Elimination match
Rhea, Heart, Kay Fabe, Maxine Babe & Tiger Mask vs. Anaxis, Velar,
Cassandra, Draconian Chic & Melody
The women put on a great show for the crowd, keeping everybody into the
action. Kay Fabe finished off Melody with the nGo Driver then the Haight
Asbury Sidewalk Slam. Fabe's team continued the attack with her and Tiger
Mask working over Cassandra. Rhea came in to finish off Cassie. Heart
took it to the Draconian Chic but was disqualified fighting fire with
fire out on the floor. Anaxis got her team back into the match by pinning
Fabe with the Call of the Siren. Anaxis kept it up by pinning Tiger Mask
with the same move. Rhea was DQed and Velar pinned Maxine Babe with the
Spinning DDT to win the match. Anaxis, Velar & the Chic are your sole
survivors.
4-CORNERS TITAN DEATH ELIMINATION MATCH
Thrash (GWF Woman's champ) vs. SuperNova, Amazonia & Maim
For awhile, it was Nova & Amazonia against Thrash & Maim, but soon it was
every woman for herself. Amazonia pinned Maim, then eliminated the
champion Thrash. That left the two partners against each other. Amazonia
got the win and her first GWF Woman's title reign.
Dark Justice, Greg Valentine, Mike Fortune, Mandrill & Painmaster vs.
Splatter, Vyper, Draconian Sheik, Dreadnaught & Soldier of Fortune
Nobody likes anybody in this match and the action shows it. Splatter gets
the first win by beating Dark Justice with the Shredder. Mandrill is
DQed, then Fortune and Painmaster are disqualified. Valenine was left 5
on 1. He got Vyper DQed and pinned the Soldier. The Hammer fought the
entire time but the numbers finally prevailed when the Soldier got the
3-count. Battle Corps and Splatter are the sole survivors.
TAG-TEAM ELIMINATION MATCH
Theatre of Pain, Ninja Assassins, Rebel Empire, Cygnus Strikeforce, &
Unspeakable Horror vs. Royal Flush, Kati + Homicide, Wraith + Max Shield,
Titan Attack & Rising Sun + Talon
In this one, when you are beat your partner is eliminated as well. R. Sun
took out Blazing Skull quickly, but the tag-champs (Theatre) end R. Sun's
night early. The Rebel Empire beat the new TV champ Jack of Diamonds. The
Strikeforce pin Ursa Major. Max Shield beats the U.S. Traitors. The Ninja
Assassins hit their finisher and the Genesis team is DQed after
interfering with the count. Comedy pins Homicide to win the match.
Theatre of Pain, Ninja Assassins & Rebel Empire are your winners.
Alpha Force, Lance At-Las, Dagger Mack, Blizzard & Buck Steele vs. Halcon
Oro, Mad Jester, Enigma, Lycosa & Blacklash
The all cruiserweight team looked good in this one. Oro pinned Lance and
the Jester eliminated A.F. The GWF champion, Buck Steele, then went to
work and beat Enigma. Dagger Mack pinned Lycosa. Buck turned to Genocide
and pounded down Oro and Blacklash. Jester refused to stop fighting and
after a long time was beat by Genocide. Genocide, Dagger Mack and
Blizzard are the winners.
Thunder + Overkill, Twin Blood, Crossfire, True Studs & Pegasus + Matador
vs. Paragon + Janus, Lower World, Awesome Studs, Disorder-X & Desolation
Factor
This one featured the top tag-teams in the galaxy. The Lower World
quickly finished off Brainstorm. Thunder's Moonsault pinned Dynamo. The
Dreggs of Defeat beat Paragon, Janus never got into the match. Twin Blood
(I-P tag champs) eliminated Death's Head. Disorder-X and the Decimation
ousted Blade. Dreggs forced Mace to submit. Desolation Factor beat
Thunder, but Pegasus won the match by pinning Ruin. Twin Blood, Pegasus
and Matador win the match.
Wolf, Chaos, Malice, Vengeance vs. Colossus, Terminus, Prodigy & Monad
Some of the top singles wrestlers met in this one. Vengeance's Spasm
pinned Monad real fast. Wolf's Skullcrusher ended Colossus' night making
it 4 on 2. Vengeance was DQed. Terminus got a big pinfall on Chaos to
even the match. Prodigy pinned the new I-P champ Malice. Wolf fought on
and beat Terminus and Prodigy to win the match as the sole survivor.
DEATH MATCH TOURNY FINALS
Code Enforcer vs. Spike (Widowmaker match)
A brutal cage was constructed complete with weapons to use on your
opponent. Spike controlled the majority of the brutality, using a War
Hammer and a Morningstar to mess up the Code Enforcer. Spike made his
return to glory with a tough fought win to get him his first title since
returning to the GWF. Code Enforcer will miss approximately a month of
action due to injuries.

A. THUMBTACK DEATH MATCH by Aaron Chiu (dayellowguy@juno.com)
In this match, a tray of thumbtacks is placed in the middle of the ring
to be used at the wrestlers disposal. Any time a 4 is rolled on
offense, the wrestler has the option to roll on the thumbtack death chart
THUMBTACK CHART
Roll Result
2 As you prepare to throw your opponent into the thumbtacks, he grabs
ahold of the ropes, and avoids his fate. You hardly notice until it s
too late, and your opponent clotheslines you on to the thumbtacks. Add 1
to your PIN rating, and roll on level 3 defense.
3 As you attempt to bring your opponent close to the thumbtacks, he
reaches down and grabs a handful which he throws into your eyes. Your
opponent takes over on level 3 offense or on this chart.
4 You attempt to grind your opponent s face into the thumbtacks.
However, your opponent elbows you in the stomach and rolls on this
chart.
5 As you attempt to hit a suplex on to the thumbtacks, your opponent
blocks the maneuver, and delivers one of his own on the canvas. Your
opponent takes over on level 2 offense.
6 Your opponent dodges your attempt to make use of the thumbtacks, but
you continue your offense on him like white on rice. Roll on level 2
offense.
7 You punch your opponent in the face several times, and he staggers back
and falls into the thumbtacks. He is hurt, but is able to get up.
Continue on level 3 offense, or roll again on this chart.
8 You bodyslam your opponent on to the thumbtacks,
9 Your opponent sprawls out with his face laying in the tray of
thumbtacks. You stomp viciously on the back of his head, and cut his
face wide open. Your opponent adds 1 to his PIN rating as you continue
on level 3 offense.
10 You come down crashing your opponent into the thumbtacks with a
suplex. You go to cover your opponent for the PIN.
11 You hit a belly-to-back suplex on your opponent, that sends him
crashing backwards into the thumbtacks. Your opponent adds 2 to his PIN
rating. With tacks poking out of your opponent s neck, you continue your
vicious onslaught by rolling on level 3 offense, or again on this chart.
12 You powerbomb your opponent on to the thumbtacks, and in addition to
the blood oozing everywhere, there are still tacks stuck in his skull!
Opponent adds 3 to his PIN rating, and rolls his PIN.

Well, I realize that it has been a while since this newsletter was put
out regularly, but I still have faith that we can get it back to its old
level of excellence guided by Joe for the first couple years of Next
Generation's existence. Now that summer is here, I will make every
effort to bring Next Generation to those who still want to receive it,
though it is also very important that I receive articles to send out to
other promoters. Please, I cannot stress how important it is for readers
like yourself to contribute articles to this e-mag, the state of its
existence cannot be possible without you!
Also, any feedback on the way this newsletter is presented is greatly
appreciated. I am always open to ideas and suggestions, and as in the
past, it is possible to get your own column!
Thanks for bearing with me. Until the next issue rolls around...
Sincerely,
Aaron Chiu

wears chainmail to ringside.

8. Closing Comments
Sincerely,
Aaron Chiu
