Jim Donovan, a former broadcaster for the Guardians and Browns in Cleveland, passed away at the age of 68. Donovan was an American radio and television personality who formerly served as sports director and news anchor for WKYC channel 3 (NBC) in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the radio voice of the Cleveland Browns Radio Network from 1999 to 2023. In 2006, channel 3 and SportsTime Ohio - now known as Bally Sports Great Lakes (BSGL) - acquired the local TV rights to the Cleveland Browns. So in addition to his duties on WKYC, Donovan also hosts several Browns themed programs on BSGL. On the national level Donovan had called play-by-play for NBC Sports' NFL coverage from 1987 to 1997. He also handled swimming and soccer play-by-play for the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics for NBC, and World Cup soccer in 1994. In 1999, when the Cleveland Browns returned to the NFL, Donovan was named the radio play-by-play voice of the team.

Joey Jay, a celebrated former Major League Baseball pitcher, who passed away at the age of 89. Jay’s career in baseball was marked by his exceptional talent, perseverance, and significant contributions to the sport. Born on August 15, 1935, in Middletown, Connecticut, Joseph Richard Jay made history as the first Little League player to advance to the major leagues. His professional career began with the Milwaukee Braves in 1953, where he quickly became known as one of the original “bonus babies” due to his significant signing bonus. Joey Jay’s most notable years came with the Cincinnati Reds, where he played from 1961 to 1966. In 1961, he led the National League in wins and shutouts, helping the Reds secure their first pennant in over two decades. Jay’s performance that season earned him two All-Star selections and solidified his reputation as a top-tier pitcher. Throughout his 13-season career, Joey Jay posted a win-loss record of 99-91, with an ERA of 3.77 and 999 strikeouts. His contributions to the game were recognized with his induction into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 2008.

Jerrod Mustaf, a former NBA player known for his time with the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns, passed away at the age of 55 On his birthday Mustaf, born on October 28, 1969, in Whiteville, North Carolina, was a standout player at DeMatha Catholic High School and the University of Maryland before being selected 17th overall in the 1990 NBA Draft by the Knicks. Mustaf's NBA career spanned from 1990 to 1994, during which he played for the Knicks and Suns. He later continued his professional career overseas, playing in various European countries. Gene Achtymichuk, affectionately known as "Ack-Ack," passed away peacefully back on June 28, 2024, at the age of 91. This page just learned of his passing. Achtymichuk played a total of 32 NHL games spanning over almost a decade. He began his career by playing one game for the Montreal Canadiens in 1951–52. Five years later, in 1956–57, he played another three games for the Canadiens. The following season saw Gene achieve a career-high 16 games played. This was also the season in which he scored all of his three career goals and eight career points. The next season, his last NHL season, he played 12 games for the Detroit Red Wings. While Achtymichuk was not in the NHL, he played in various other minor leagues from 1949-1972.

Mike Haffner, a former wide receiver for the Denver Broncos and a beloved sportscaster, passed away at 82 Haffner's career in the NFL spanned from 1968 to 1970 with the Broncos, and he later played a season with the Cincinnati Bengals during the 1971 season. Known for his remarkable diving touchdown catch that helped the Broncos defeat the defending Super Bowl champion Jets in 1969, Haffner left an indelible mark on the field. After retiring from professional football, Haffner transitioned to a successful career in broadcasting.
