Orndorff, I was told by Tom, Paul had told him no. So I lost all hope. So I was very happy his kids agreed. Getting the Piper card was also pretty rad.

I was very surprised when they announced Kurt Angle. I'll be honest. I was very surprised when I got his permission form back in the mail. He was very friendly over text and email, but he returned that form immediately! Pretty sure I called Mike M while I was still standing in the street. Luckily I live in a very small town on a road with light traffic. I will confirm this story. Chad had called me when Kurt asked for the form, but I still wasn’t sure if we would see it (there’s been more than one time that we’ve sent a form out that didn’t get signed). I was stunned when a week or two later Chad called me from the mailbox. Fortunately, I was not standing in traffic.

For me, it’s genuinely the low card talent. The fact that the game embraces guys like George South, Jake Milliman, Larry Sharpe and The Mulkeys is awesome

Obviously guys like Road Warriors and Andre in the initial black and white days (funny thing is guys like Race/Bockwinkel didn't surprise me)
In the color era, guys that were associated with the WWF/E like Patterson, Monsoon, the Briscos, Chyna. Vader is another one.

For black and white it was Rick Rude and the Road Warriors
For colour it was Macho Man, Nikita and Vader

For me it was the original color Macho, Jannetty, and Beefcake cards back in the black & white days. Did not see that coming.

There have been a lot for me, especially the last few years. I would say some of the biggest were Kurt Angle, Bob Backlund, The British Bulldogs, and Joanie Laurer. Angle, being a more recent star, I thought would have been harder to sign. I wasn't sure if Backlund would be willing given his personality. And while I knew Davey Boy might be a possibility, I didn't know if there would be a contact for Dynamite.
With Laurer, I think I was surprised that her mom got back to me, as it was about three months or so after I had contacted her that she replied. I honestly had sort of forgotten that I had reached out to her until she replied.
I'm sure in about five minutes, I will think of more honorable mentions.

Bulldogs especially DK was another surprise. Yeah. I didn't think we'd ever get DK.

For me Joanie Laurer, Kurt Angle were huge surprises. Randy Savage, Roddy Piper are others as well. I want to know if Cornette was an easy sell on this or if he was hesitant. Based on the project itself, I would think he'd be all for it, but I am curious if anyone can share the story of his signing. Also, if Jim has ever checked out the game himself.
