LOWF 08 - North Attleboro, MA - Witschi's Sports Arena
“Lightning” Rod Fenton bested Bob Armstrong [Vintage Charts] in a match that spilled out to ringside several times. It was back and forth early on but Fenton was able to get the match to the floor and take over. Armstrong managed to kick out three times after a SERIES OF DROPKICKS. Late in the match, both men tumbled to the floor and crashed hard to the floor. It looked like it might be double count-out finish but Armstrong and Fenton both regained the ring before James Beard finished his count. Fenton took the win with an overhead body slam after 3:58.
Bobo Brazil spoiled the debut of The Grappler in 3:52. The story in this one was Brazil dominating the action and The Grappler doing just enough to keep himself in the match. Three times The Grappler kicked out after a COCO BUTT, including two and a row. The action went to the floor multiple times and Morgan Dollar seemed to want to see things finish in the ring. Brazil used a big hammer punch to finally get the victory.
In another battle of newcomers, Ilio DiPaolo made a huge comeback to defeat Larry Zbyszko at 2:12. Zbyszko earned serious heat when he smashed DiPaolo with chair during the introductions by Gary Michael Cappetta. Zbyszko keep on his opponent but could only get a two counter after a backbreaker. DiPaolo got the best of his foe on the floor and then used an AIRPLANE SPIN to almost end it. DiPaolo used a mix of power moves, body scissors and leg nelsons to grind away at Zbyszko picking up several near falls before using another AIRPLANE SPIN for the win. King Kong Bundy w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan crushed Nord The Barbarian at 0:42 with an ATLANTIC CITY AVALANCHE. Barbarian was able to move Bundy around push him to the floor but Bundy dragged Barbarian outside and whip him in the ring post. Bundy took the match back into the ring and ended it. Johnny Valentine bested Jimmy Snuka with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER. Snuka was all over Valentine and then went for his SUPERFLY LEAP. Valentine rolled clear and Snuka crashed to the mat. Valentine struck with his finisher and took the victory at 1:23. The Destroyer survived a battle with Greg Valentine at 2:35. There was a near perfect exchange of counters early on before Valentine began to press his attack and dominated the action. Destroyer did enough to avoid being in a position to be beat but Valentine was relentless in his attack. Valentine picked up a near fall after a throat drop on the ropes but that is as close as he would come to victory. Destroyer mounted an impressive comeback late in the match and then used a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK to get the win. Road Warriors w/Paul Ellering bested Tag Team Champions Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff in a Best of Three Falls Match (2-0) to win the titles at 10:58. Ellering had the Warriors prepared and they wrestled a very smart match using their power and double teaming to get the upper hand. Both Volkoff & Sheik were struck by multiple double clotheslines. The Champions were able to make key tags and use pin saves to get out of trouble but the Warriors had too many weapons and a vertical suplex by Hawk to Volkoff ended the first fall after 6:55. Sheik knew that he had to handle a majority of the action after Volkoff took a beating in the first fall and responded by loading up his boot against Animal. Animal was busted open but Sheik was not able to maintain the advantage before the power of the Warriors took over again. More double clotheslines and quick tags from the challengers. Volkoff ended up having to get back into the action. The Warriors capitalized putting him down with a DOOMSDAY DEVICE to take the second fall while the pin save was blocked.
Next up, we head to New York City for a huge event from Madison Square Garden. In the main event, Road Warriors and the team of Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff will finally settle things when the two team clash for the Tag Team Titles inside a Steel Cage Match in the main event. Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel will defend his title against top contender Bobo Brazil. Also in action, Bob Armstrong, Valiant Brothers, The Destroyer, Greg Valentine, Ted DiBiase and Nord the Barbarian.

LOWF 09 - New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden
Larry Zbyszko picked up a win over Bob Armstrong after 2:55. Joey Marella was in charge of the action that saw Zbyszko take off the turnbuckle cover about half way through the match. The exposed turnbuckle played a major role in the balance of the match with Zbyskzo running Armstrong in the corner several times leaving “The Bullet” a bloody mess and it was a head ram into the exposed buckle that lead directly to the pin. In one of the shortest matches in recent memory, The Grappler & Playboy Buddy Rose stunned Valiant Brothers w/Captain Lou Albano in 0:21. Grappler gets the advantage against “Luscious” Johnny Valiant and catches him with a shoulder breaker for the sudden three count from James Beard. Johnny Valentine made a comeback to down The Destroyer after 1:46. Destroyer and Valentine traded counters early before Valentine took over with big chops to chest. Valentine ended up getting caught on the top of the corner and slammed to the mat. Destroyer landed a Bombs Away as part of his flurry and nearly submitted Valentine with FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Valentine got the best of a brawl on the floor and stormed back hitting his ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER three times in a row to claim the victory. Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan retained against Bobo Brazil after 3:07. Brazil was dominate in this one especially in the early going as Bockwinkel had no response to the attack of his challenger. Three times Bockwinkel fell to a COCO BUTT and each time Bockwinkel just kicked out of the cover. Heenan earned his paycheque with a timely distraction after another COCO BUTT and moments later Bockwinkel was able to get the best of a brawl on the floor. Bockwinkel attempted a submission with a FIGUR FOUR LEGLOCK. Brazil made the ropes but Bockwinkel did not let up his attack and used another FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK to complete his impressive comeback. Killer Kowalski downed Nord The Barbarian by disqualification in a very quick encounter. The action made its way to the floor shortly after Morgan Dollar called for the bell and Barbarian grabbed his chain and choked Kowalski with it after 0:34.
Ted DiBiase v/Virgil made very short work of Ilio DiPaolo. The fans were all over DiBiase as he teased a payout to a younger fan at ringside. He did not earn any further support with dismantling of DiPaolo in no time at all getting the win at 0:33 with a vertical suplex with Virgil holding down DiPaolo’s leg on the outside for good measure. Jimmy Snuka defeated Greg Valentine with a SUPERFLY LEAP after 2:34. Valentine and Snuka tore it up at ringside after trading counters the ring. Snuka took the upper hand and then used a series of chops and backbreakers to work over Valentine. Outside, Snuka slammed Valentine to the floor. Back in the ring, Snuka dominated and ended it with his fan thrilling finisher.
Tag Team Champions Road Warriors w/Paul Ellering bested Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff in a Steel Cage Match when Animal caught Sheik with a flying shoulder ram after 9:33. This battle developed slowly and Sheik was a monster using the cage wall to bloody both Warriors. There was controversy mid way through the match when Morgan Dollar was knocked down for ten moves! Sheik looked to have things won but there was no referee when he locked on a CAMEL CLUTCH on Hawk. Late in the match, it was back and forth and Sheik took the tackle on the chin for the loss. With the referee getting knocked down for ten moves during tonight’s main event, the issues between Road Warriors have not been resolved and the two teams will once again clash in another Steel Cage Match when the LOWF makes its first trip to Portland, ME with action from the Expo Building. Plus, Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel will be in tag team action when he joins King Kong Bundy to take on his number one contender Johnny Valentine & Greg Valentine. Also signed to complete are Nord The Barbarian, :Buddy Rogers, Jimmy Snuka, Larry Zbyszko, Playboy Buddy Rose and Bobo Brazil
