The threshhold between Indy and LOW signee has popped up in a few different discussion spaces in the fandom and will probably remain an evergreen discussion as new cards are added. I had been chewing over what a desirable Legends set could look like based purely on Indy cards that already exist in the game give or take some practical logistics with how they were licensed. Also going to focus on talent that might still be active but will not likely reinvent to the point that new career defining cards are needed. Just for fun, this is what I settled on:
America's Most Wanted (Circa 2002-2006)
"Wildcat" Chris Harris
I'm not familiar with the individual stats on either card but have noticed as a trend that some tag teams that were published a few years apart might over compensate the more recent card to shore up the earlier released singles card. Storm being a single release while Harris being in an Indy PP item, both getting LOW art with LOW tag stats still fills a niche without being too redundant in an LOW only collection... I'll hold out hope for Gail Kim because man oh man was she a great heel valet during their SpikeTV run.
Latin American XChange (Circa 2006-2009)
Hernandez
Homicide
Largely the same logic as AMW, two cards printed in Indy sets nearly a decade apart (Hernandez also being an Indy PP) and not necessarily designed as a dedicated tag team. Just an absolute menace in their SpikeTV days with the aforementioned team that unfortunately didn't carry over during Hernandez's singles run and subsequent spinoff units. Also another reason for a Gail Kim card *insert the Gail Kim Border Toss gif here*
The Briscoe Brothers ( Circa 2006- 2009)
Mark Briscoe
Given Jay's extremely unfortunate passing, this seems like a fitting remembrance of the Brothers at their peak potential. Granted, I am a huge fan of this version of the team in golden age ROH and their NOAH excursions. This may seem redundant with the number of cards available for both but I would counter that the most recent versions do well to cover their 2010s/2020s run and both work better as Single's cards stat-wise with a far and away stronger card for Mark to bolster Jay's title card. The ROH starter tag team cards also show their age mechanically and artistically, making an LOW color treatment still something that can be unique part of an LOW collection. Bonus that AMW/Briscoes are also considered a what-if dream tag match of that era
"Crown Jewel" Jimmy Rave (Circa 2004-2006)
Don't think it can be overstated how tragic Rave's battle had been over the last few years of his life. To commemorate his ability as a performer, a card capturing The Jimmy Rave Embassy run. Personally, I think this could be the greatest heel character that the contemporary Indy scene might ever produce. Just a fun build-around character to have this throwback sneering heel foreigner all the way from Ghana by way of Atlanta Georgia with a retinue of valets, a filthy rich manager and all the hired guns money can buy. Maybe even work in a roll for how much toilet paper the crowd brought to the venue.
Nigel McGuiness (Circa 2005-2009)
Another talent that fits well in the TNA/ROH theme. It is a real shame to consider how injury derailed him but It's great to see how receptive audiences have been for Nigel and his role as the greatest hater on commentary going today. He does have an ROH and LOTF card but the LOW Color treatment featuring double British V's feels like an appropriate way to round out the set for all the clam-diggers out there.
America's Most Wanted (Circa 2002-2006)
"Cowboy" James Storm
I'm not familiar with the individual stats on either card but have noticed as a trend that some tag teams that were published a few years apart might over compensate the more recent card to shore up the earlier released singles card.
