... I fly out of Boston at 5 AM and there is a 5 1/2 hours stopover in Nashville. So I am going to leave the airport and get some breakfast somewhere so I can count Tennesseee as my 40th state. I then fly home to Las Vegas where I arrive at about 2:30 PM which will be enough time to go to Graphouse (a fed Sandra Moone partially runs, I know at least some of their shows have been on IWTV) at Area 15 (this will be my first time going to Area 15.) The Nashville airport is only a 10-minute Uber ride away from the Grand Ole Opry or 15 minutes the other direction would put you on Broadway with all the Honky Tonks, the Bridgestone Arena and a nice view of the Titans' stadium. There are tons of places to eat on or just off Broadway. Assuming you want quick service, the Assembly Food Hall is right off Broadway and has about 50 different dining options inside it. If you head to the Opry, it is adjacent to a big mall that would have a bunch of restaurants. Paula Deen has a restaurant on the other side of the mall parking lot from the Opry, but I think it is only a Lunch & Dinner place. (I've worked out of my company's downtown Nashivlle office a few times). I've never been to it, but I've heard good things about "Biscuit Love" in The Gulch section of Nashville. That area is 6-8 uphill blocks away from the Honky Tonks on Broadway.

I will only be in downtown Nashville probably long enough to eat breakfast but still long enough for me to count Tennessee as a state I visited as after I visit Maine next week I will be at #39 and I wanted to get to #40 quickly so I can get out of the 30s and into my final 10 states. Although this short stop into the city works for my counting puposes, I would like to make another trip to Nashville though in the future to see the city properly. Of the Major US cities I have not seen yet, Nashville and Miami are the top two on my list. My original tentative plans for this Summer before I got my Summer Scool hours cut in half involved going back to Waterloo but first stopping in Nashville for a couple of days and that Wednesday night there is AEW Dynamite and that episode will actually be Blood and Guts.

Years ago, my ex had never been to WI, and we lived in IL. So, one cold, snowy day we were both off. We got in the car and I drove north to WI to have lunch so she could add WI to her list of states.

I lived in North Miami from 1988-97 before I moved about 25 miles north to the Fort Lauderdale area. My wife loves Nashville and country music, so we spent 11 days there two summers ago spanning CMA Fest and have gone several other times outside of my work trips. The Honky Tonks on Broadway have music all day long, 7 days a week including a few that feature Metal and Hard Rock (which I prefer).

That is sort of how I added Kentucky to my list, but it was by accident. In 2021, after Galacticon in Philadelphia, I went to Baltimore to see ROH and then to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. I then drove across Ohio (a brief stop in Columbus) to go to Cincinnati where for dinner I wanted to try Skyline Chili. The downtown locations near my hotel had already closed but there was a location across the nearby river still open so I went there for dinner. The next morning I toured the Cincinnati Reds ballpark and the tour guide pointed to the same river which he said was the Ohio River separating Ohio and Kentucky. So I looked it up and the Skyline Chili I ate at was indeed in Kentucky.

If you didn't even know you were in Kentucky does it count? Just checking lol.

If you didn't even know you were in Kentucky does it count? Just checking lol. I believe you are thinking of the age-old question "if she does not know you are in does it count" . Long as you are in a state you have officially been in it. Even if you have a hood over your head and hands cuffed behind you the whole time. Not that I would know about that or anything.

Just checking lol. yes because I was there even if I admittedly did not know it at the time, I verified it by both looking at the receipt in my wallet which had the KY as part of the address and by looking up the restraunt location on the Internet.

KY is on the other side of the river from Cincinnati. I have seen TNA hold a card in KY but advertise it as Cincinnati as it is considered part of the metro area. In fact, when you drive over the bridge which I have done a few times you see a sign welcoming you to Ohio.

What's your take on airport layovers? When I went to Florida in 2011 I had layovers in Minneapolis on the way there and Atlanta on the way back but I personally don't count Minnesota or Georgia as states I've visited since all I saw was the airport. In addition to Florida I've been in Washington, California and New York. This August when I'm in Nevada for the CAC Reunion I'll also be able to add Arizona to my list as I'm taking a day trip out to The Grand Canyon. Out of the 13 provinces/territories of Canada I've been in 4 of them: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and The Yukon Territory. I hope to make it to all 13 in my lifetime although I don't know where I would visit in Saskatchewan as according to people who've visited and lived there it's the dullest place in the country.
