Vegas --- You may want to pick up a Goo Goo Cluster when you're in Nashville. They have a big store a couple of doors down off of Broadway (the street between Kid Rock's and Luke Bryan's Honky Tonks) and you can find small ones in all of the gift shops in town. They do have more varieties than just the original that that they describe as: In 1912, in a copper kettle at the Standard Candy Company in Nashville, Tenn., America's first combination candy bar was invented: A roundish mound of luscious caramel, creamy marshmallow nougat, and fresh roasted peanuts, all covered with real milk chocolate.

Howdy everyone! My experience this year was a mixed bag... Marcus and I left Omaha last Thursday in pouring rain and traveled to Debauque, IA (about 5 hours from home). After getting sick, we decided to stop for the night. We grabbed some McDonalds (which was awful) and settled in for the night. The attendant at the hotel was funny as hell and tried to do a Kurt Angle imitation but wasn't quite right (he needed to possibly try with a broken freaking neck). Early Friday morning, the pilgrimage continued and we pulled into Jamestown around 5ish...decided to stay in Jamestown since not a big fan of DiPaulo's and went to Landmark steakhouse. Ordered like three items that waitress came back and said they were out of...then when finally got our steaks, they were w-a-y undercooked (literally blue) and had to send back to the kitchen. Although, seeing Marcus "buzzing" after several drinks and arguing with the hand dryer in the bathroom was priceless! Saturday morning came early as I woke up at 230 am with chest pains (would have them all weekend) and waited patiently until 6 am to ask my son if he wanted breakfast. Texted Kevin Butcher but he was probably asleep...and we went to Bob Evans, a GCON tradition! The food was good and a bright spot in our food exploration for the weekend. Headed over to JCC and saw my extended family...too many to list but you know who you are...talked to Milton about a gastric sleeve procedure as I am not happy with how big I am getting. He was very helpful and gave me his number for any questions that I may have... met Martin (over the edge) for the first time and he is a hoot! Some great bootlegs this year from Broc, Rob, Kevin, Barry, and Jack...after seeing their stuff, I felt like my two were inadequate at best. I played three matches on Saturday and think I had a total of nine rolls as I was quickly eliminated each match. I had Theses, Gary Albright, and I don't remember the last one. Once again, not really anything of interest during the Q & A...except for Chuck Carter's segment- Butcher is correct that he is the Jack Kirby of our universe. Tom R looked nervous for some reason and when asked a question would talk to Tom rather than face all of us. Afterwards, went to the 50s diner for dinner (met Barry & Milton there)...my burger was burnt, cold, and the fritos were stale af on it...not what I remembered. Then we headed off to Gamers Haven and the last time in Jamestown was awe inspiring but now is just a mess! Plus, the dude at the counter argued with Marcus about Magic cards...like wtf who cares? Headed back to the room and played several of my kiddos (my kiddo still even at 22 years old) 2108 shows...played some NBA Jam and I decided to call it a night as still wasn't 100%. Sunday morning arrived and I slept (and laid in bed) in until 0830. We headed downstairs and had the hotel breakfast...nothing too exciting but it was food. We showered and headed over to the Sunday gaming...I drew Archibald Peck in the comedy tournament and would get to the final four where both myself and Grant would be disqualified giving Troy the tournament by default. In the Canada Cup, I had drawn Bob Backlund and thought I was in a good spot...not so much as went 2 and 3 in the round robin...but it was fun! We said our goodbyes and headed to Chataqua (or however you spell) Comics. Picked up a bunch of comics there including Darrell Banks first Green Lantern #50 and some older firestorm issues. Then went to Old Oak (?) Ice Cream and that was the highlight for food for the weekend. Looked for a sub place for dinner but couldn't find any besides subway...yuck...ended up at a hotel restaurant close to ours for an underwhelming pasta bolognese and pork tenderloin. Went back to room and played some more 2108 before heading off to bed. Left Jamestown at 3 am Monday morning and drive home straight through. It was a blast hanging with my son as he will be moving away from Omaha to continue his Law Degree (he graduated with Bachelors in May)... It was fun hanging with everyone at Jamestown but the town has lost its charm since covid I think....I heard a rumor that next year will be in D.C. but not confirmed...

Thanks for the info! I will have to see about Nashville tomorrow morning. If my flight out of Boston is on time, I plan to leave the airport and go into Nashville but I would have about an hour (maybe 90 minutes) as I can’t risk missing my connecting flight to Las Vegas as I really need to get home tomorrow (I actually thought about seeing if I could catch a flight out tonight.) However, even if manage to add Tennessee as my 40th state tomorrow, I would still really want to return to Nashville soon.

I just saw a video today that as of July 1 you can register online for a day pass to go into the Nashville airport past security to enjoy the restaurants and shopping. Looking at the selection its pretty goo, as they have a Hattie B's chicken and a number of other signature restaurants. Kind of a wild concept though.

Goo Goo Clusters are yummy. I prefer the peanut butter ones as I love peanut butter and not caramel so much.

I am now in downtown Nashville eating at Another Broken Egg which was recommended to me for breakfast right before I boarded my flight in Boston. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict with cheesy grits. If time permits, I might check out the nearby Johnny Cash Museum, but I will be back here soon I am sure as this stop was really just to reach the milestone number of 40 states for me.

My question is, what are the last 10? Alaska North Dakota South Dakota Oklahoma Arkansas Michigan West Virginia South Carolina Alabama Mississippi If New South runs their annual HOSS Tournament during my Spring Break next year, I will plan to go and knock off at least Alabama and Mississippi from that list, but usually that tournament is 1 week off from my Spring Break, but if so I might still go to the HOSS Tournament though for a weekend and at least knock off Alabama from my list. One year when I go back to Waterloo, I might fly to North Dakota and then also drive through South Dakota on my way to Iowa.

Forget "Go, go Speed Racer". It is all "Go, go Zeke".
Glad you got home fine and hope you have a good time tonight.
