So I just discovered something interesting about Kyle O'Reilly: He was my next door neighbor for a few years when we were kids. I was friends with his sister and would frequently go over to their house to play. His sister and I were a few years older than him so he was just a toddler at the time and we moved away shortly before my seventh birthday. However, our mothers still kept in contact with each other and while I was aware that he had started wrestling locally I didn't know his in-ring name which meant that I was unaware that he had moved on to bigger and better things.
The other day The Vancouver Sun had an article about his recent TNT Championship match with Adam Copeland and they listed his given name of Kyle Greenwood and mentioned that he was from the Vancouver area. When they mentioned his mother, Janie, I knew it was him. I was very sad to read that his mother passed away a few years ago as she was a very sweet lady.
In my 41.5 years on this planet this is probably only the third or fourth time my mouth has dropped open in shock (Bubba Ray Dudley's Heatwave'99 promo is another instance). All this time I've been using his ROH card and not knowing that he used to live right next door to me.
MY MIND IS OFFICIALLY BLOWN!🤯

Very cool!
I have a friend named Andy who used to live in the Vancouver area and he is very good friends with Kyle O'Reilly. I know Andy through wrestling (met him at PWG) and he drove me and daytondave back to the Galacticon hotel in Chicago after an AEW show in 2022 as he happened to be in Chicago after having an interview with the Detroit Lions about an open legal position. My friend Andy is a lawyer who actually negotiated Kyle's current deal with AEW which he told me is for 5 years (much longer than most AEW contracts.)

Did he get it?

That’s a pretty cool connection, Paul. Those small world type of connections always trip me out. Glad to see Kyle back in the ring and doing his thing.

Too bad. It would be cool to have two degrees of separation from the Lions.
