The Acolyte (Star Wars) on Disney+

I liked the show but it clearly was a reworked movie. They tried to get too fancy with it and should have just shown it from Sols point of view the whole show.

I want more Plagueis and I thought the show did a good job showing the beginning of the jedi order unraveling. But it felt like it needed some polish and for a TV SHOW it needed some more character development. I don't like taking a movie and cutting it into 8 pieces cause that's what it felt like.

I still don't buy the whole "virgin birth" thing here or anywhere it's just illogical. I liked they were trying to show where Plagueis got the idea from and perhaps Palaptine did to create anakin but it's one of the shakiest of star wars elements. You don't need to tell every story or explain every characters motivation/back story.

Honestly after the sequel trilogy and everything since I'd be kind of okay leaving Star Wars alone. Prequels, Rogue One, Andor get passes but everything else has not been great and okay without it (the story of Luke Skywalker in sequel trilogy is worse than anything the acolyte told)

While this is part of it to be sure, it by far is not the entire reason it took the social beating that it deserves. It's about continuity and for goodness's sake hire writers that have a clue... A CLUE about the subject they are writing for.

I agree, Star Wars has become something I don’t hold as sacred as I did in my youth. 
I feel the Acolyte wasn’t the worst Star Wars we have ever seen, for me at least. Still better than Episode II & III.

Wait, BETTER THAN II & III??? Episode 3 is by far the best of the prequels. II I get cause the dialogue is soooo bad but I still would rather watch any of these over 7,8,9

Acolyte I'd prolly give a 5.5, Boba Fett would be a 4.2, Mandalorian 5.9 and Andor I'd say 6.5. Ashoka is weird leaning toward 5.5 as well but need to see where it's going. In wrestling terms they need to build Thrawn more and I'd like to see him get some wins and build his credibility.

I tried with the Acolyte just like I tried with Ahsoka… if it was a male as the lead both the shows still would’ve sucked. Idk if it’s because of the writers strike or what but the stories they’re trying to tell, they’re not doing a good job at. I don’t want to watch anything Star Wars related again. As much as I love the Mandalorian there was a point where that should’ve stopped but they decided to change that because Disney is struggling for hits but they keep greenlighting shit like this.

That's the one I went back and forth on and will prolly always go back and forth on.

The series are weird. I totally get why people see they are trying to hard. I like the Mandalorian but I feel the longer it goes the rating will go down. I am about to say something Blasphemous but Grogu has gotten worse as the series has gone. Boba Fett I thought was really weird. They took Patton Oswalts fillibuster opening almost verbatim and then went a weird direction with it. The story of Boba Fett is a tale of the cost of vengeance. The whole pseudo redemption thing was weird, the bright colored gang that helps him was weird. The story should have been how he stopped at nothing to find Han Solo or Luke Skywalker and then dies at their hands.

I think Andor was good but I also have some fatigue from the constant telling of stories from the empire days. Enough with the rebellion. Yeah I got it already I don't need you to drive this point home. You're expanding the lore for an area you're already good on. We need more lore from other areas now. We want more Plagueis but you tried to do too much with the acolyte I think.

My dad would agree with you. I always took points away from Jedi because you need to see other movies to complete it. Jedi can't stand alone like the other two can.
