I wanted to get the community's input on how often they book Andre or if they use him as a regular participant in their feds. I personally don't use him very often b/c IMHO his card is so powerful and he's only lost a handful of times, the last thing I want to do is bring in Andre to bury my territory champ and make him look weak. So that said, how do you guys use him? Do you use gimmick matches? Do you keep him away from your champ unless you're positive it won't be one-sided? I feel like the best way to utilize him is battle royals, tag matches, war games matches, etc.

I use him much as he was used in the territory days. As a touring attraction, friend to some beleaguered local babyface. I keep him well clear of the title picture. He doesn't need a belt around his giant waist. He's Andre.

Though he has held gold a couple times for me for a bit, he is definitely a rotating attraction beholden to none.

In my fed, he's Teddy Long's secret weapon to reign in heels run amok. He usually comes in to give some chicken shit heels their comeuppance, usually in a handicap match. He even held the role of acting commissioner when Long was suspended.

I bring him in as an attraction for a few shows or occasionally as a mystery partner.

I’ve used him as a guest tag partner for a beleaguered baby face. I’ve also had Andre ambushed by a stable of heels, allowing him to exact revenge.

My LOW feds are on hiatus but I was last doing an nWo like fed and he was the muscle. Eventually I will break up the group and he will be used as a special attraction. I might team him with a weaker partner to go after tag gold. Might go after secondary title and if seems unbeatable he will drop the title to go Hollywood.

Sounds like everyone is kind of doing the same thing as I am. No sense in putting him into title competition. I have just been using him with Battle Royals or a Body Slam match, that way he doesn't potentially squash one of my top guys.

See I liked throwing him into the title picture to see what he could do. Don Muraco and King Kong Bundy were able to knock him off.

Back in the black and white days, I did have Andre in the six-man title picture with Blackjack and Masked Superstar as the Machines. Hiding him the tag or trios division is a good option to use him as something more than just a special attraction but still not have him squashing top singles stars. Plus having partners allows him to take losses with out really taking losses. |
