BEST OF THREE FALLS BOUT - Harley Race defeated Wolf Two Falls To One. (First Fall - Wolf pinned Race - Shoulder Tackle). (Second Fall - Race - begrudgingly with Aethran Garrison Commander - pinned Wolf - PILEDRIVER primary finisher). (Third Fall - Race pinned Wolf - PILEDRIVER primary finisher).
Summaries:
Our television/streaming announcers, (Jim Solie and Gorilla Ventura), actually got into a fairly heated argument over the final moments of this bout. What caught some, but not all, by suprise was that if/when The Macho Man got in trouble, Sherri Martel stormed the ring to either distract the ref or Interfere. (Ventura claimed Martel had brass knuckles, Solie said that was utter nonsense). But what caught everybody by suprise was the sight of a seldomly even heard from Colossus getting up from his front row seat and ripping out a section of the steel barrier off of its hinges. He them charged with it in his hands towards Martel just as she got to the ring steps. As Caelum's back to back finishers forced Savage spit up blood in submission, Colossus threw the section of steel barrier after a, (running right back up the ramp she came down) Martel.
Cheerleader Melissa won the opening collar and elbow and went on quite the offensive run against Sensational Sherri Martel. Brief but effective, something to be built upon until Martel reversed an irish whip into the ropes into a Shoulder Block, which drove precisely into Melissa's injured rib. From that point on, it was all Martel, culminating in just barely getting the three count from a Melissa that still somehow had some fight left her. As Melissa offered to shake Martel's hand while saying to her, "I was outplayed", Martel cautiously accepted. As Melissa favored her injured right rib, she offered her left hand to Martel. As they shook hands, Melissa held Martel's left hand tightly and with Martel's left side exposed, Melissa threw a right hook to Martel's jaw that spun her head and buckled her legs. As Martel lay grabbing her jaw on the canvas, Melissa growled in agony beside her, as she curled up tightly into a ball.
Before what Lou Thesz knew what hit him, Jimmy Snuka was hammerfisting the daylights out of him from behind. Although the bell did ring, it was during Snuka's assault and Thesz never heard it. Announcer Jim Solie was convinced that Snuka was on something, but his Co-announcer Gorilla Ventura adamantly declared that Snuka was, "Just nuttier than a peanut plantation". Aside from the brief momemt that Thesz almost hit an out of nowhere GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP, Snuka was just too erratic to counter this night.
It seemed as though Thantos couldn't tag out quick enough, Mike Quackenbush was clearly cut from some highly unorthodox "earthling mold", and was outmaneuvering him. Quackenbush's mistake was letting his early successes make him a bit overconfident. When Thantos was able to make the necessary tag, Morpheus brought Quackenbush back to reality almost instantaneously. Morpheus basically ragdolled Quack all over the ring, it wasn't technical and sure wasn't pretty. Although he was able to kick out from back to back executions of TRIP TO HADES from Morpheus, the damage had been done. Thantos speared Johnny Gargano, (and himself), through the ropes to prevent Gargano from interfering with the cover.
During the course of tonights main event, it wasn't noticed until somewhere during the second fall that there were many Aethran soldiers in attendance. Armed ones. Many of which were positioned in the aisles of the ampitheatre. In so far as Harley Race and Wolf, by the third fall they were both barely able to stagger to their feet. And looked like they had been shot - alot. The second fall nearly went to Wolf however the "Aethran Garrison Commander", (from our prologue), attacked Wolf during which would have been his second and match deciding Shoulder Tackle. Wolf then frenzied and threw the Garrison Commander clearly over the top rope. Well, if Wolf didn't do it, then Harley Race would have. Race didn't even know who the hell this was. Wolf did, but he took great pleasure in, "hurling that asshole out of the ring". Harley Race told himself that he'll, "bitch and moan later", but at that moment, he had a match to turnaround. And turnaround he did.
