WCW Monday Nitro Episode # 01
September 23rd, 2024 - The Omni - Atlanta, Georgia
*Commentators* - Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and Gordon Solie
-> The show opens with the commentators introducing us to the show.
-> They say that tonight we will see the first ever WCW World champion crowned.
-> They say that there will be two first round matches and then the winners of those matches battle for the World championship.
-> They then send it to the backstage area where The Sinister Minister is standing by.
-> He says that he is bringing in a tag team that is an “Unholy Alliance!”
-> It was announced that the first pay per view will be WCW Halloween Havoc and will take place on October 27th!
-> We then go backstage with Jim Cornette. He says that his client - Rick Rude will win the WCW World championship here tonight!
-> We see a video of Pete Dunne. He says that he is going to be the first WCW Cruiserweight champion. He says he’s fought the best and has what it takes to get the strap. He says once he gets the belt there will be no one who can stop him. He says the Cruiserweight division will be wild and exciting and he will love breaking the limbs of his opponents!
Match 1
Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka defeated “Ravishing” Rick Rude with a Superfly Leap to advance to the finals of the tournament.
-> We see a video of Buff Bagwell saying that he is coming to World Championship Wrestling and Francine will be his valet.
-> We go to Randy Savage backstage who says he’s going to become WCW World champion by the time the night is through!
Match 2
One Man Gang beat Randy “Macho Man” Savage with a 747 Splash to advance to the finals of the tournament.
-> One Man Gang says it’s one down and one to go and that the WCW World Heavyweight championship will be his! He says that he is going squash Snuka in the corner and become the first champion!
-> We then go backstage where Jim Cornette and Rick Rude are yelling about Rude’s loss to Snuka. Rude looked at the camera and says that he will get that WCW World Heavyweight strap and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
Match 3
Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka beat The One Man Gang to become WCW World Heavyweight champion!
-> After the match Jimmy Snuka celebrated his victory and put his newly won championship around his waist as One Man Gang rolled to the floor and collected himself.
-> It was announced that on the first episode of WCW Thunder will see the crowning of the WCW World Tag Team champions!
-> The commentators announce that on the next episode of WCW Monday Nitro we will see the crowning of the WCW United States champion.
-> The show goes off the air after we see a confrontation between The Pitbulls and Danny Doring and Roadkill - two teams who will compete on WCW Thunder for the WCW World Tag Team championship.
