Welcome to my AWA fed. This is a small project with a small roster (20 wrestlers) representing the history of the AWA. I have used Vern Gagne's "Great 8" theory to build this roster. Eight major stars (4 singles, 2 tag teams), backed up by 12 "lesser" wrestlers to make things interesting. My great 8 are: Bockwinkel, Stevens, The Crusher, Bastien, The Road Warriors and The Vachons. The other 12 consist of Kenny Jay, Jake Milleman, Steve Regal, Boris Zhukov, Marty Jannetty, Jim Brunzell, Adrian Adonis, Billy Red Lyons, Doug Somers, Buddy Rose, Bill Irwin and Scott Irwin. This gives me 5 tag teams (Road Warriors, Vachons, Flying Redheads, Long Riders and The New High-Flyers - Jannetty & Brunzell) as well as 10 singles competitors. I like the small, compact size of this roster. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy this one.

Card 1
Boris Zhukov defeated Jake Milleman by count out. The big Russian body slammed Milleman on the concrete floor and Milleman couldn't beat the 10-count.
"Playboy" Buddy Rose beat Red Bastien (in an upset) by DQ after a wild brawl broke out outside the ring.
The Vachons got the win, in their debut versus The New High-Flyers. Mad Dog Vachon hit Jannetty with a PILEDRIVER to seal the victory.
In the Main Event, Nick Bockwinkel easily bested Kenny Jay as Jay tapped to the abdominal stretch. Nice first win for Bockwinkel.

Card 2
Jim Brunzell defeated Doug Somers with his HIGH FLYING DROPKICK and pin.
The Road Warriors ran over The Long Riders when Hawk hit THE DOOMSDAY DEVICE. Paul Ellering was pleased.
In a major upset, Marty Jannetty pinned Ray Stevens after a surprise running knee lift. Stevens was furious after the match as Jannetty quickly left through the crowd.
In the Main Event, The Crusher made Steven Regal tap out to his CRUSHER NELSON. Regal got no offense in this "mismatch". Oof...

Card 3
Adrian Adonis made quick work of Kenny Jay, using his finisher GOODNIGHT IRENE to get the win.
Buddy Rose & Doug Somers defeated The Flying Redheads when Rose hit Billy Red Lyons with a jumping back elbow and got the 1, 2.... 3.
Mad Dog Vachon cruised to an easy win over Jake Milleman, delivering his PILEDRIVER to seal the deal.
In the Main Event, Nick Bockwinkel made Marty Jannetty tap to his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Ray Stevens and Bobby Heenan were at ringside and distracted Jannetty at every opportunity. After the match, Stevens hit the ring and both Stevens and Bockwinkel put the boots to an already hurt Jannetty. The beating ended when Jim Brunzell ran to ringside and Heenan and his men retreated.

Card 4
The Road Warriors dominated Rose & Somers and used a double clothesline to beat Buddy Rose. Solid win!
Red Bastien got in the win collum as he defeated Boris Zhukov with a double knee lift and pin.
The Long Riders got the win over The New High Flyers when Bill Irwin nailed Marty Jannetty with his FLOAT KICK.
In the Main Event, The Crusher got a DQ win over Billy Red Lyons. Lyons, frustrated, lost his temper and body slammed The Crusher on the announce table. The referee had no choice but to call for the DQ!
Promoter's Notes: The next card will be the first official House Show. It was announced that The Road Warriors will face The Vachons for the vacant AWA World Tag Team Titles while Nick Bockwinkel will meet The Crusher for the vacant AWA World Heavyweight Title in a 2 out of 3 falls match! Other matches tbd. See you there...

I expect the Roadies will dominate your tag titles but you've got a fun mix here.

I expect the Roadies will dominate your tag titles but you've got a fun mix here. Yeah, gonna have to bring in some tag teams to challenge them properly. The Vachons are good, but need more depth in the tag team division. All-in-all, I like the mix I have. Thanks my friend. We'll see how the dice fall for the next card.

Card 5 - House Show, St. Paul, MN
Marty Jannetty opened the show with a solid win over Boris Zhukov. He used his ROCKER DROPPER to get the victory.
Adrian Adonis hit Steven Regal with GOODNIGHT IRENE to pick up the win.
The Flying Redheads easily handled Rose & Somers as Red Bastien nailed Doug Somers with a devastating right hand punch to get the pin.
Jim Brunzell won by DQ over Ray Stevens. Stevens got caught by a dazed referee using a chair on Brunzell and was disqualified.
The Road Warriors won the AWA World Tag Team Titles, over The Vachons, as Hawk hit the DOOMSDAY DEVICE on Butcher Vachon. This was an exciting match with so many near falls. A Five-Star match!
In the Main Event, Nick Bockwinkel defeated The Crusher, 2 falls to none, to become the NEW AWA World Heavyweight Champion! In this hard hitting match, both men were left bloodied. Bockwinkel won the first fall with his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. In the second fall, Bockwinkel hit a dazed Crusher with a knee smash to the back and fell over him for the pin. Bobby Heenan and Ray Stevens hit the ring and celebrated with the exhausted champ!

Promoters Notes: The AWA has announced the signings of 4 free agents. They will begin competing in the coming weeks. They are... Larry Hennig, Curt Hennig, Pat Patterson and The Destroyer. This will increase the roster size to 24 competitors. Don't miss the next AWA event....

Patterson is one of my favorites. I would use Doctor X over Destroyer but either works and you can't go wrong with the Hennigs. Somers tends to hold Rose back so I've moved Buddy to singles for now (Somers recently lost a match against The Mulkeys for me)
