I'm thinking of bringing a mid card title to my fed, or rather bringing the Regional title back. Part of it is because I have a lot of midcarders and mostly they just keep getting fed to my main eventers. The other reason is my World and Tag titles don't change hands a lot. And while I don't want WCW-levels of a title changing hands multiple times a day, once a month or every couple of months would keep things exciting. However, knowing my luck, the first champ will have the longest reign ever, but I'll burn, I mean cross, that bridge when I get to it.
Now I don't want this champion to be the #1 contender for the world title, but at the same time I don't want to limit it to weight classes. From a meta perspective, I'd like this title to be for wrestlers with Rahl Ratings under 30. But what could be kayfabe or in-game rule for this limit? Or at least something to discourage main eventers from challenging for this belt?
I have a few ideas and would welcome ideas, suggestions, etc:
1. The Regional Champ cannot challenge for the World Title. It's almost like they're in a different fed even though both are SAGA.
2. The Regional Champ can only challenge for another title once in a year, even if holding the title more than once. For example, George Tragos wins the title in January 2025. In February, he challenges for the World title and loses. In March, he drops the title to Matt Cross. In April, he regains the belt. However, even though it's his second title reign, it's still the same year, so he'd have to wait until 2026.
3. The Regional Champion can challenge for another title, but the Regional Title is automatically on the line. So if he goes after the World Title and loses, he drops his title.
What do you think, or do you have other ideas?
Thanks!

My secondary title has an unofficial rule as I try to limit weights to 255 pounds or less and any wrestler with 2 or 3 L3 finishes only challenge for world title. For example , Curt Hennig is my IC champion and Bruno Sammartino is my world champion. Hennig or Macho Man has the ability to challenge for both but someone like Bundy or Kurt Angle will likely not.
As for title vs title , I mimicked what they are doing with Crown Jewel and had the IC champ face the World Champ for my Lords of the Ring trophy. The IC champion will face the World Champ and the IC title is only on the line if my World Champ unofficially meets the 255 and one finisher , otherwise it is just a “champion vs champion” World title match.

I have a North American Title, a Light Heavyweight Title and a Pioneer Title for other wrestlers to strive for.

Instead of the rahl rating, you could use the (PIN) number.
Like anyone that is (2) or more could be your secondary title contenders for example

I'm planning on doing the same thing. Having a title somewhat similar to a TV title or something that only midcarders and lower can vie for seems like a fun way to keep these guys relevant rather than just using them as cannon fodder for upper midcarders/main eventers pushing for the big titles.

I plan on doing something similar with my COTG Fed after I finish my current game year. Based on the tournament based format I use I've come to realize there's a bunch of wrestlers who are just never going to be contenders. My plan is to create a separate promotion for them in Year Three so that everyone is fighting guys at their own talent level.

In my USWA, I have the World Heavyweight title, the Southern Heavyweight title, and the Mid-America Heavyweight title. For those who haven't read my fed's history, I rotate through having the World, World Tag Team, and Southern titles main event the cards each game week. While the World title is definitely the top title, I try to present the Southern champion as being close to the same level, if not the same level, as the World champion. The toughest cards that have challenged for or held the Southern title, off the top of my head, are Harley Race, Giant Baba, and Nick Bockwinkel (all B&W versions).
The Mid-America title is definitely meant to be for guys who are maybe good tag team wrestlers or those considered mid- to low-card singles wrestlers. However, I present it as a valuable title in storyline and position it in the semi-main event. A few times, it's even gotten to be the main event match. I never really make a big deal as to why guys like Race, Ed Lewis, Lou Thesz, etc. don't challenge for that title, just maybe saying they have their sights set on the World title. I don't set any rules as far as how tough of a card can challenge for the title. Off the top of my head again, the toughest guys to hold the Mid-America belt are Ray Stevens and Jackie Fargo. I probably wouldn't go much tougher than that.

I like the idea of 3 Pin or higher. Only problem is guys like Severn and Pesek would qualify and they’re way too powerful.
What about an in-game way to discourage higher tier wrestlers? I don’t want weight classes because then guys like Gotch would qualify while Roadkill (who would fit perfectly in this ) wouldn’t.
As I said, all I have is to limit challenging for the World or Tag titles.

You could exclude wrestlers in the 3+ pin category who have multiple finishers or who have a single finisher above +X potency (you decide what X is). But no mechanical method is going to address all possible cases. That's fine for me because I'd rather make booking decisions on my own anyway.
