Serious question here, I've never been caught up in COTG before. But I'm caught up (technically ahead because I started before EC was re-released) on Early Classics and I'm not sure what to do. If I just shelve it until the next release is out, I'm looking at at-least another six months to a full year before the next release. But if I keep plowing ahead (using the original EC cards & expansion set) then I'm always going to be ahead of the new revised sets. Not that they've really changed too much between the original cards and the new ones, but you get what I mean.
How do you people who play the modern sets (or others with caught up release cycles) solve this conundrum? Just stop playing that particular set of releases, restart back to an earlier point or what?

Just stop playing that particular set of releases, restart back to an earlier point or what? for me, I personally play all 3 brands (although admittedly not LOW for awhile but hoping to return to that brand soon) so when I am not playing COTG (and I only do monthly/12 shows per game year for COTG, although those are big shows with most of the roster involved and thus still about 12 title defenses per game year,) I am usually playing my Indies feds until it is time to take a break and play the most recent COTG release for that new game year. for Early Classics, I played out 2074-2075 last Decemebr and January but I am waiting to start the new 2076 set until I go to Spain in December as it is easier or me to travel overseas with the smaller number of current COTG cards than with my much larger number of Indies cards.

I just keep playing and build on my own stories until a new set comes out and then if my game is in a place that doesn't match up completely where the new release narrative sets up then I play until a situation allows for me to establish what is happening in the timeline of the plot in the new release. Some wrestlers will change right out of the gate because maybe they are not in a major storyline to line up with the new releases plotline but until a new set comes out just keep running matches and telling stories or if you feel you need to take a break from it then do so and pick up again at a later date. But if you want to keep playing just keep the fed going.

I just keep rolling the dices until I buy the next available set. GWF I am only up to 2130. I struggle to keep up with GWF, 4 Legends, ROH, Evolve, Chikara, Shimmer,CZW, CWFH and 3 indie feds just keep plodding on. Feuds never die in my eyes. Why play say 5 matches when you can do 7-11 matches or more.

As of this writing I'm finished with 2139 and waiting for 2140 (So when I'm all caught up I'll have the fed and it's wrestlers do a Galaxy Tour for a set number of fight cards in that part of the cosmos). I've done this for years now and it works really well for me when I have to wait for the newest edition. Also, I have a Kronos fed so that passes the time greatly and changes things up when I want to play with other COTG grapplers.

It’s been a few years since I had been caught up but from what I remember I would leave a “month” worth of shows unplayed in case someone turned on a team or left the GWF so I could work it into the story. Nothing irked me more than starting a new year and Wrestler A was on a new team just because.

With champions I divide the year into 10. Chapters of 5 shows. And play a card every Saturday. It makes the game feel real to me. I try and focus on the titles so there always the main event and I try and tell a little bit of story each piece.
Maybe that's why I like champions and not legends cause I can't get to that same point.

I ended 2074-2075 in Early Classics last week.About to start playing 2076.When I am caught up I just add fight cards and tie up loose story ends.Have been plotting out storytelling for 2076 which seems like the beginning of the rift between Omega and Morpheus since Omega wants to occasionally team with Sam.Also been plotting out how to tell the story of the slow descent of Cosmos to Thantos and how Morpheus influences that.

Back in the day when it was just COTG at the end of the year when I was waiting on the next set to arrive I would do off season tournaments that didnt play into the storylines, but were more for fun.

LOLOLOLOL!!! Caught up? I work two jobs and have two teenagers. What the hell does "caught up" even feel like?
I haven't even opened my original Civil War 2099 envelope yet!
Just being sarcastic and making fun of myself, haha.
