Ok,
I have one fed that uses wrestlers from all brands (GWF,CPC, ACE, LOW, LOTF, GWFZ, and some bootlegs). I only have time for one fed. But a couple of things have come up that I would like opinions on.
1) Several wrestlers have many cards to represent stages in their career. (Star Warrior, Wolf, etc.). I am trying to find a good way to represent times in their career. For instance, let's use Star Warrior as an example. I was thinking that once he reaches twenty wins, then I will upgrade him to the next card, after that if he loses or wins twenty he goes up or down to the next card. And so on and so on. Any suggestions.
2) Now let's use Earthquake as an example. He has three or four stages with different personas. Now would you guys go through personas or use all as different wrestlers. Keep in mind that I do my own thing and not what the books say so nothing is in the order of the original storyline. Sometimes if things go right I will use some of the storylines. So how would you guys handle this and what would you do?
Not really decided on my own and wanted everyone's opinion on matters, especially those who mis feds like, Eliath, stu, and others.
Thanks in advance

I don't run a pot luck fed but I think I would...
1)Probably stick with one version in their career and maybe downgrade after time or upgrade to go along with your timeframe and not worry about keeping special track since it would be one more thing to worry about.
2)I would pick what persona stuck out to me the most and I would probably write better storylines sticking to one thing. But then again you could go a Mick Foley, Dude Love, or Catus Jack angle and use all of them???

An odd idea, but given the scope of what you are planning to do, it may help in the long run. You kind of are all over the place with the amount of cards that you have. Given the amount of cards at your disposal, you might want to do two things.
First, figure out what you would consider an ideal rosters size. How many singles wrestlers? How about tag teams? Womens? Cruiserweights? Managers? And how many wrestlers from each set do you intend to use? Will it be the same number from each set? Take some time to figure out what size of a roster you wish to work with. If you can figure that out, you'll be one step closer to filling a roster out.
As far as using cards with different personas, I think Mr. Beefy (Beef to the ladies) said it best when he said to go with who you like and stick with it. Especially when it comes to wrestlers with more than one card or ring persona. As much as you can, pick out wrestlers that you like and want to use. If you're not feeling it, don't force it. With all of the cards out there, you have enough options to choose from without using a card you don't like.
On the flip side of that, if you are stuck for who you want to use, why not take what picks you like and have a tournament to play your way into the federation?

I've done this type of a fed before, and have contemplated doing one again. But what I did for guys with multiple cards, was just simply picked their best card, and went with that. And then if you felt the need to change things up a bit sometime down the line, then switch to another version. With so many cards to choose from, I think that gives you a little more flexibility.
But in your case, I would do what was already suggested, and just upgrade or downgrade when you see fit, instead of trying to follow by win and loss totals. For example, let's say if you start with Star Warrior's 2087 card, I would continue to use that until maybe Star Warrior hit's a rut or something, and then upgrade. And then after using the upgrade awhile, let's say he dominates, and holds a top spot for awhile, but you want to shuffle someone else into his spot, then downgrade him, and work his way out of that spot.
As for someone with multiple personas, I would kinda follow the same idea. I'd start by picking whatever persona you like best, and use that, until you want to change things up.

Wow! First thanks for all opinions. But I guess I did not explain myself very well which is common for me. I am on my 27th card, been doing this for about 6 months now. I have 50 wrestlers total (singles and tag) on the roster. I do not do women's wrestling as of yet. Every month if not in top 10 (or top 5 for tag team, Thanks! Havoc) I roll one die 1-3 = no change, 4-6 = change out 1-3 wrestlers for a change of pace (random roll). I never had an issue until I rolled Chopper Mattock. This got me thinking which is why I wanted opinions. Since there is so much history I just do not have the time to run all these great feds. I already know the history since I have all the cards. Which to me is why I do not go by the book as I already know what is going to happen. That is why I wanted opinions. Not really sure what card is my favorite as I have never really used them. I think it would be interesting for a character to have ups and downs. So maybe if Star Warrior is rolled up I should just use the card that was picked and if he leaves again and comes back maybe a different card is rolled. Same for personalities. What do you guys think? I hope this is not coming off as rude, just not very good at explaining things sometimes. I have been very happy with my fed so far and just run with it. Right now Frank Gotch is the man, and believe it or not the Mountie is making his mark as the top heel. Then a couple of months ago Nicodemus and Neuromancer hit the scene. It really gets me thinking on things for angles. Anyway I wil quit my ranting, but thanks again for all who have responded.

Markoda:
What I do is typically use the best card for each wrestler with regards to the COTG wrestlers. Now, that being said, I do make exceptions due to perhaps not liking one version's moveset, or picture for that matter. But, for the most part, this is how I play it.
That’s not a bad idea someone else had, about using a downgraded version of a wrestler when perhaps you are thinking of cycling that particular wrestler out of your fed. Hey, wrestlers go on hot and cold streaks, if this is “real” athletic competition you know. I like it, hadn’t thought of that before.
Hope this helps. What I’ve found works the best is to simply have one or two major angles going on (I’ve had Omega feuding with Iron Hand for a long time in my fed, for basically control of the fed), and then let the booking take care of itself by creating interesting match ups, and letting the dice dictate your long-term plans.
Nice to see you back!

I should also point out that I don't have my wrestlers "age" in my fed so much. I use the LOW model, where each card is timeless in a matter of speaking. I don't use the standard COTG model, where a young wrestler debuts, ages, peaks, and then declines.
This way, Star Warrior and his contemporaries can be used for as long as I play this great game. I just ignore aging, which is what LOW players have to do anyway.

Markoda,
I like your idea of using the different cards to represent progression / decline in the cards!
The only caution I would give you is that once you begin a decline you can't go back (unless you storyline a reason for going back - ie: a time machine)
In the case of Earthquake, I like the idea of using the different personas to represent different creative ideas that the executive committee is trying on him; with those you could always go back to a preferred card if the "angle" doesn't work for him. I think this might be a lot of fun to play with!
I say go for it bro!! You've got a great idea going so far & I love reading your fed!!

Thanks for everyone's opinion. I will try to get around to posting a card once a week and will also try to keep it on an ongoing basis. Eliath and Stu do the same thing that I do and I enjoy reading new takes on the old wrestlers.
