Hello, my name is Raymond.
I played COTG ages upon ages ago. In fact, I believe that the last time I played with any regularity; I was something like 12 years old.
I've always remembered the game fondly, and have had the on again off again notion to pick it back up.
I usually get somewhere into the online shop, and get quickly discouraged by the immense amount of material that there is now available.
Can someone give me advice on where a good start up point would be; without simply returning to the beginning?
I'd greatly appreciate it.

New Beginnings is a good place to start and then you can move around as you want.

I liked starting with the aCe as I was discouraged by the immense history of the GWF, and I like how at the time the aCe had a sci-fi horror feel to it. CPC/POW has a fairly good starting point and if you like something other than wrestling you can play MMA with them as well to keep it fresh while getting back into it.

Hey Raymond - welcome back to the game we love!
New Beginnings might be a good starting point for you, because it is ground zero for the next generation of continuity. If that works well for you, give CPC/POW (more MMA flavored), aCe (zombie/sci fi) or Legends of Wrestling (a veritable who's who of the best wrestlers in history) a try. And if you want to pick up where you left off at the age of ten, you can also find sets going back to the original release.
The good thing is that there are plenty of great games to choose from! You'll have so much fun you'll think you're back in the day!
