ATLANTIC COAST CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING
SEPTEMBER 5, 2008
PARKVILLE, MD
THE ARMORY
FRIDAY NIGHT FURY
*The fans are excited as the new ACCW champion ROB VAN DAM walks out to the ring and is greeted with a huge ovation. He thanks the fans and says that its been a long road and he can't tell them how satisfying it was to put such a pompous windbag in his place. With that MR. JERGENSEN walks out to the ring with his own mic. He appears worse for wear. He interrupts and mentions that their match was a war at SLAMMIVERSARY and that he isn't here to cause trouble. I am here to shake your hand. Van Dam reluctantly accepts. I want to show everyone here that I can be gracious but just remember that I do have a return match coming to me and I want to make sure that both of us will be ready for it because I want no excuses when I take my title back. Van Dam is happy to oblige and he'll be waiting.
*CRAIG DEGEORGE and KEVIN "THE TRUTH" CASEY open the show and they can't believe how incredible the huge show in DC was as a new champion was crowned. Casey mentioned that Van Dam will have to give up the ACCW TV Belt and we should see the pairings and matches over the next few weeks. You can expect some new faces as year two of the ACCW kicks into high gear.
1) BLUE MEANIE (w/STEVIE RICHARDS)beat WILLIAM REGAL with a BIG SPLASH @ 3:33.
Regal never got on track as he wasy busy berating the audience and at one point said that he's wrestled at carnivals and that even the bearded lady was more attractive than some of the "women" here tonight. Meanie used his partner's distraction to hit DDT and the a splash to get the upset pin and to spoil the Brit's debut.
RINGSIDE: DeGeorge discusses the main event as AXL ROTTEN goes head to head with GORILLA JOHNSON. Johnson may be the league's most dangerous man and Axl may be the king of hardcore but he'll need a bat to knock this behemoth down.
2) JERRY LYNN defeated SAVAGE T (w/KJ HILL) with the CRADLE PILEDRIVER @ 5:21.
Jerry Lynn was another man with his ACCW debut. He had little trouble with T. His quickness was just too much for him to keep up with and Lynn finished him off easily.
BACKSTAGE: JOEL GERTNER is with ACCW commissioner GREG DEGEORGE and he has the TV title. Next week I will have the brackets for our 16 man elimination tournament that will start right here on TV and every match will be on TV as it should be. But, I will give you a sneak peek of two matches that the fans will see - GUNNER SCOTT will take on former champion JOEY MERCURY and in the second contest "ALL AMERICAN" TOM ACE will do battle with newcomer WILLIAM REGAL. Stay tuned as more matches will be announced.
3) GUNNER SCOTT & AL SNOW beat NUNZIO & TRIPLE D (w/RONNIE MERVIS) when Scott pinned Triple D with a HALF NELSON SUPLEX @ 11:42.
Scott and Snow blended well as a team, while D and Nunzio had their issues. They missed a double elbow and Scott hooked in a suplex and threw D over for the pin.
4) STEVE CORINO & "ALL AMERICAN" TOM ACE beat MALACHI & THE PLAGUE (w/ JAMES MITCHELL) by DISQUALIFICATION @ 16:23 when Raven interfered.
This was a top contenders match for the tag team titles. Ace and Corino were rolling as Corino hooked a VICTORY SUPLEX on The Plague. The ref counted but RAVEN who had appeared through the crowd grabbed the official by the leg and hit him with a DDT and then left the arena. Officials called the match as they tended to the downed man.
-MAIN EVENT-
6) AXL ROTTEN beat GORILLA JOHNSON (w/JAMES MITCHELL) by DISQUALIFICATION @ 7:21 when Johnson used a steel chair across Rotten face.
A typical brawl that saw the match get taken to the floor quickly. Both men battled with chairs until Gorilla connected and opened a gash over his left eye. The ref called it but Rotten fought back the cameras faded to black.
