So I'm kind of unsure what to do with Danielson when he makes his LOTF debut for my Underground promotion.
My philosophy has always been to debut a guy and then have him work his way up the card and then earn a title shot. This can take quite awhile but I tend to like the slow and steady approach.
Danielson is presenting a problem though. He's world class and I think he's going to be a lot better than anyone else in LOTF. And I think for what he is on the real life scene and for what his card should be that maybe I should consider letting him debut and challenge for the title right away.
I'm really torn on my usually style vs. what I think a character like Danielson should get in a LOTF fed. So what do you guys think? What are your plans?

How about you let him debut like this?

I plan to introduce Danielson as a big deal. Maybe have him come in at the end of a card, a man with no alliances and challenge the champ. Danielson is not a face or heel, just a guy who wants to be the best PERIOD. Have a couple of cards to build it up and BOOM, put Danielson in a title match.
That is my plan anyways. (Now I just hope the dice go along with it.)

My first impulse is to throw him in the title mix right away but since the RoV Grand Championship has been changing hands a lot lately, I'm going to try to build Rick Rude up as a credible champion first. I'm probably going to do a 1995 Bret Hart thing with Danielson where his title hunt keeps getting sidelined by meaningless fueds.

I'm going to have him in my ECW fed. Thinking about his showing up and telling the fans he is there so they can see what real wrestling is, not all this violence and weapons.

While I'm going to have Danielson as part of my main feds (ECW & WCW), I like the idea of him in LOTF (my ICW fed), and he may wind up there in as a draft pick.
Mad Dog, you might want to try simply announcing that a new wrestler has been signed and is making his debut. Don't mention who it is, and when the crowd sees it's Danielson, they'll all mark out. Think it over.

Danielson has plenty of possibilities.
If you run an LOTF fed he should be a top guy right away and could be a useful tweener.
If you run an LOW fed it's a natural to have him ganged up on by vets like Gotch, Race, Bock and for them do state that he doesn't belong with the big boys.

Danielson went to my modern fed. He's got a feud with RVD in a battle of hardcore vs wrestling. (And interestingly..Danielson is the heel)

He'll come in like everybody else and work his way up the card. In my fed, the wrestlers earn their spot on the roster and fight to continue on from month-to-month.
I've had world champions lose a title and almost lose their spot in the lineup in the same month. It puts a lot of pressure on the talent but it sure makes every match count.
I used to "push" guys into the title picture but gave that up after Strangler Lewis. Sometimes dice go hot and cold. Pushing guys, in my opinion, is setting up for a letdown.
Fortunately, my indy fed is due for a new champ. We'll be having a gauntlet between the best of the LOTF. Danielson's in that gauntlet. We'll see if he can win the title...
