I ordered my cards from PWI when I was in college to pass the time away from home. One of the great magazines... I wish they would be able to get in the 21st century and do something better online. Why not still have an agreement with Vince and Dixie and write the stories that they had in the "news reporting" days of old.
2087 was great for me and I have actually went back to the way I ran the fed back then in 2112 where I am currently. My first GWF champion was Massif and he was very dominant in the first year of the "New" GWF losing only twice in 15 matches as a singles wrestler that year. Wolf, Thantos and Actagon were the top contenders in that first year. As much as I wanted Star Warrior to win the title the first year, Massif, Thantos and Wolf kept him at bay all year long.
In the team ranks, The Gladiators, Greek Gods and Star Warrior/Commander Sam were at the top of the groups. Brute and Massacre only lost three times during the 2087 year. They were at their best.
In the first year, I had a SIX MAN title that I loved in the early days. In the nostalgic way that The Koloffs and Freebirds dominated in the 80's, The Federation Defense Fighters dominated the SIX MAN championship.

The funniest thing about 2087 was Wolf. Probably the most iconic wrestler in COTG history. He didn't win my GWF title until 2099 I believe. That's twelve years without the title. And he lost it in his first defense. Fail. By the time I quit playing that promotion, 2102, Wolf was pretty much an afterthought. Always somewhat a threat, but pretty much outgunned.
I think everyone's had success with Thantos and Star Warrior. Same with Brute & Massacre in the tag ranks. I had quite a bit of success with Killer Queen myself. For a card that should have been vastly overmatched, he held his own pretty well. If I'm not mistaken, he won the IP title once, and had a few tag title reigns. His team with Mad Jester was by far my favorite team Killer Queen was even involved in. In fact, I actually went against the official storyline and didn't break up Jester & Queen for some time.
I actually didn't stay in 2087 very long, since I already had 2088 so it was mad dash time. Historically though, aside from Thantos, Star Warrior, Wolf & Massif, no one else held my GWF title. And aside from The Gladiators, no one proved to be a long-term tag team threat either. If you knocked off the top few, and the bottom few of the set you'd have an average success ratio for this set.

Wolf was my first champion, and yes now the Glads are steamrolling the tag ranks that wasn't the case in the title tourny. Check out my reboot fed in my sig below to see how my 2087 is coming along.

Wolf was wrestler of the year for me in 2089 and then again....in 2116 just before he retired for the first time. An amazing 27 year split. He was my top champ 4 times with another 6 runs split between my lower 2 belts. Overall pretty solid, but he got lost in the shuffle later on.

Rawk Gracie...Wolf is like the New York Yankees or the Dallas Cowboys, loved or hated, but I think he is great and was always a star in my fed! I hate the Yanks and love the Cowboys by the way! I too, love the Royal Creeps tandem of Queen and Jester, they were a lot of fun. I remember playing as a kid with my dad and Queen was probably a (.500) wrestler most of the team, but every now and then, he got on a major role! In our early GWF days, Star Warrior could beat anyone, but had issues with Killer Queen. In a huge upset, Queen pinned SW for the GWF World title in a our biggest surprise ever! Later, he won the IP belt from SW as well! And finally, we had Star Warrior and Pulsar Prime, the Star Fighters as the undefeated tag champs at (15-0) when all of a sudden good ole Queen and Mad Jester beat them for the gold, it is the only 3 belts that Queen ever held in our fed!

I got my set out from the PWI ad too. Early on the GWF was so futuristic and other worldly. I went through the first three sets very quick. My early favorites were Wolf and the Greek Gods. I can't wait to catch up better so i can play the Classics era.

For whatever reason...Killer Queen ALWAYS destroyed Massif...frequently hooking Massif's big legs in the CHECKMATE (I imagined it just as when Jericho locked Kane in the Walls of Jericho...he had to really struggle because Kane was so powerful). This led to a long feud between the two including pink & green paint and taunts of Jolly Green Giant! www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7fMPSlfz3s

With my 2087 restart, I have had some crazy happenings. Besides Brute and Massacre still holding the tag straps (undefeated with only one disqualification), Society of Death have been a strong tag team, beating almost everyone but the Gladiators of Aethra. I can't seem to get any other team really going, especially a face team. Wolf can't seem to beat Thantos. Massif has pretty much the best record, and he's about to get a shot at Thantos' title. So, yeah, that's what's up in 2087 for me.

I had the same problem in 2087. It was hard to get a good guy tag team going well. I teamed up Commander Sam and Massif as Old Glory and they were pretty successful, maybe you could try them as a duo. You could try Star Warrior and Omega as Cetus Express. The Greeks and Space Croppers are kinda weak. I also teamed up Lord Nexus and Pit Viper as the Flying Titans and they were my first World tag champs.

My 2087 restart is doing better than my first start. Thantos was the first heavyweight champion, only losing the title to Star Warrior, then he regained it. My first I-P Champion was Wolf who has not lost the title untill my first PPV when he lost to Krakan. The Gladiators pretty much destroyed every team except the S.O.D( Khan,Mutant) The S.O.D are the only team to beat them for the tag titles. Now of course I don't follow the stories, I like createing my own so anything can happen in my fed. But my currant champions have formed a group with the owner of the federation. So we'll see how things go.
