Okay, I should explain this little thread before getting too far out there. We've all taken a face and heeled him out or made a championship-level do-gooder out of a heel from time to time.
Since I got bored of grading papers, I started to set up my next big GWF card. It occured to me, as I was setting up, that many of the greatest heels in the GWF's history have gone on to be Hulk Hogan-like superheroes for me.
My biggest flips were Chaos and Bishop Hell. Chaos couldn't stand it that Overkill was getting all the "big man" praise upon his debut, so the Indestructible one staged a pearl harbor job during a Gladiators/Mercenaries match. This landed him in the middle of a feud with pretty much every Aethran, and he became a massive hero in the process. Bishop Hell made the jump when he refused to let Anarchy hurt Maxine Babe, and though he recently made a return as a diabolical heel, he's spent much of the last decade fighting alongside Scion Nexus, Bloodline and other faces.
I also flipped Star Warrior (LONG before this whole Avenging Warrior thing took hold) in a selfish quest to take the Intergalactic title from Dragonmaster (simply because Omega said Master was Warrior's wrestling equal). That heel turned lasted for many (MANY) years in my fed.
So, here's my question: who have you near-permanently flipped and why? Also, did the flip work out well for you?

Skinhead, Dark Justice, and Nefarus were all big anti-heroes for me

Early on I turned Commander Sam bad, but flipped him back before the first Invasion came out.
Billy Jo Boxer went heel for awhile, joining the Society of Death. He, too, "repented" and re-joined the Titans.
Bishop Hell even had a face run for me as a friend of Wolf before their split which led to my biggest feud ever.
Vanity, Vyper and Matador of M83 spent lots of time as faces for me as well. Can't think of too many who went the other way, though.
Tons more I'm sure, that's just all I've got off the top of my head.

None that weren't done by the books. Never felt a need to do so.

probably Wolf early on, but even when he was a heel, he still seemed to win over the fans and cheered him. He was sort of my "Stone Cold Steve Austin" character lol.

Comrade Terror had a brief face run for me. He and Thantos had been arguing a lot and lost a tag match. Thantos started berating him and Comrade Terror had enough and leveled him with a punch. It ended up with a hard fought bout that Thantos won. Star Warrior came out to try and help Comrade Terror but he turned again back the villain side. He later explained that Thantos proved he was the superior wrestler and that's all he wanted. But he had about 2 months of being the top face in my promotion.

Well, let's see. I flipped Ram to the heel side a year or so before Tom did, for one. And I flipped Quasar for a while, and Wildcat way back when he was fairly new.
Spike has gone back and forth in the official storyline, but I have flipped him at other points as well, including the current year I am in (2111) in which he is teaming with Wolf, Vyper, and Twin Blood against the other Gladiators.
Janus spent some time as a member of my FDF.
Right now in my USWF (my CPC, also in 2111), the Dominator is a member of Penthouse Suite.
And there are at least two cases in which I do not plan to follow the official storyline in 2112: I am not making Raven a heel, and I am not having Prodigy join Star Warrior.
There are probably others if I thought about it more, but those are some of the flips that come immediately to mind.

In 2120, I had Switchblade, fed up with his lack of title shots, become a villian (with Phantasy as his valet). It led to a hot feud with Swarm and later with Bloodline. he did get his Galaxian title shot, but lost and was never the same afterwards. Sly Drury, meanwhile, was playing a tweener role as Commissioner Massif's bodyguard against the rampaging Valour. When Epoch formed Central Command, Drury was the last choice and that didn't sit well with him, so he ended up feuding with Epoch and Central Command for the whole year, doing quite well for himself (he beat the entire C.C. team single-handedly in a Battlezone match). He was riding high on popularity until he shocked the fans by jumping back to the villian team in 2121, teaming with Epoch, which really served to make him an even more-hated man.
