Welcome to the amazing COTG Universe! It's a fun, wild ride. One that I keep finding my way back to; even if I have to clear off the dust and start fresh from time to time. COTG has outlasted any other game that I have ever played because it is so much more than just a game. Through it, I have wound up creating a whole world (galaxy ) of my own that is ever changing and evolving as I think of new ideas or new ways to experience each and every set! Hope you enjoy COTG and find it as deep and enriching as myself...and well, so many others for that matter!

Welcome to the COTG Universe! Great to have you on board.
It can be a little overwhelming at first but as many others have said, there isn't one person in our community who isn't willing to help.
In response to your question of how to determine a #1 contender, the best answer is one that you'll hear a lot: It's up to you, promoter!
I know people who keep detailed win and loss records and use point systems. Also, you can take 2 guys/teams who are on winning streaks and put them in a match and deem it a #1 Contender's Match.
That's what I usually do. I don't have a system of determining it, I go on feel. Who is on a winning streak or has had some great matches lately is how I usually do it.
Any way you come up with, I'm sure will be good. Just as long as you're happy with it. Try a couple of things out, see which you like best.

I do thing a lot like Payback does. It feels more natural to let the contenders emerge on their own rather than use some kind of formula. When in doubt, it never hurts to schedule a tournament to determine the #1 contender.
As for getting started, start off slow. You don't have to use every wrestler on every show, even though you really want to sometimes. That's probably the biggest hurdle everyone has to overcome when they get started.

Welcome aboard. There are only two things you really need to know to fall in love and stay there with this game:
1) It's up to you Promoter!
2) The dice don't lie
Let your imagination run wild and let the dice guide you like a great power in the galaxy that they are.

I really need to start writing down the questions I have because I keep forgetting. Here's the four that are on my mind at the moment.
1. Do you guys let a belt change ownership as a result of a DQ?
2. I own the COTG main box plus 2088, 2089, and 2090. Obviously, there are a lot of rules and added bits of flavor that I don't have access to yet. Are there any items that I should avoid adding into my fed until I see them in print? (For example, Interplanetary Belt which I see a lot of people using.)
3. Are there any of the Promoter Resources that you use all the time? The list of items is pretty staggering. If I could start with a couple that I absolutely shouldn't miss, that might be helpful.
4. Is there a list of heights and weights for the wrestlers from 2087 through Invasion?
I started posting results from my fed a couple of days ago, and I am playing every day. Thanks for the help.

Welcome aboard Biggin!
1. No title change on a DQ for me, but it's a great way to start a feud between two guys or set up a return bout in a Titan Death match or other specialty match with no DQ rules!
2. I personally would'nt avoid using anything. The IP belt is very popular and I know when I first started I couldn't wait. After I set up my GWF Championship tournament, I almost immediately followed with an Interplanetary Championship Tournament.
3. Promoter Resources I use all the time are the ringside companions. They contain the specialty matches of the GWF. There's updated ring charts you may be interested in too. Some of us love the old ones and some of us love the newer ones. The board here is also a frequent used resource for me and contains all sorts of helpful and interesting things.
4. For heights and weights there's the GWF Files. It comes in book form with Vol. 2 which includes that info for all wrestlers up until, I believe it's, 2115. You can also go digital and get the GWF Files in PDF too, which contains everything up to the current year and is updated as new editions come out.
Again welcome aboard and ask all the questions you want too! Look forward to looking for your results and checking out who your first champs were.
