Hey, everyone. I just got back from GenCon, where I played Champions of the Galaxy for the first time. If you were at the COTG tournament on Saturday night, I was the big, bald guy that was co-playing Nosfera in the finals. Obviously, I had to have the game, so I game home with the introductory game box. I've already played through the sample fight card in the back of the COTG book, and I'm already to start up my own fed. I've got tons of ideas; I look forward to posting and getting everyone's feedback.
I've been trying to take a look at the forums, but I have to admit that I'm a little overwhelmed. You guys weren't kidding when you said there was a big community and all kinds of online support. I almost don't know where to start. In addition, there are a lot of terms, names, and contests that I don't understand yet.
My COTG journey starts in full now...

First off, welcome.
Second, I would say if you're overwhelmed not to feel like you have to jump into everything at once. When a lot of us began playing COTG or Legends of Wrestling, there weren't nearly as many editions and cards as there are now, so most of us have started slowly, also.
Third, if you want some guidance on specific issues, take a look at the "Promoter Resources" section at the right on the banner above most (maybe all) forums. It'll give some reading material. Plus, don't be afraid to ask questions. We're all happy to welcome new players and clarify things for them, even if they seem like dumb noob questions to you. We're all in it together!

Is anyone interested in sharing the system they use to determine who their number one contender for a title is? I've been sitting around thinking about it all day. I think I'm going to have all the GWF titles vacated as I start promoting, and run a massive tournament to determine an initial rankings list. How I will maintain the new list is a mystery to me, though. Any suggestions on either the starting point or the maintenance?

Here's some great stuff that was posted in the Legends area. filsingergames.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=low&action=display&thread=3177Of course, I might be biased. It was posted in Legends but I've used it in some form in every fed I've had.

Welcome! First off you need to figure out what kind of fed and how deep you want to go. Havocs stuff/link is really cool if you want to go that way.
What I did was set up three weight classes like MMA, usually have 8 contenders and champion and then setup fights I want to see and set up something like an Associated Press Poll to rank the contenders based on their performance year to date. Though the dice have most of the control I like playing this way to have some input! I have had fun doing this in only my second restart and I been playing since 1990.
Don't rush into things, taking your time and experimenting to see what you like and how you want things to run is best! This game is awesome and I can't wait for your first results!

Havoc, you have good reason to be biased. Your system seems like a great starting point for me. I'm excited to find a method that allows for my fed's own storyline to build up while still utilizing the main GWF storyline as a base.
Inquisator and Lord Necros, my buddy and I had so much fun at GenCon. You'll both be happy to hear that Kevin picked up the COTG introductory box as his prize from the Saturday event, so he'll be able to run his own fed as well.
