As most everyone knows Tom has long been a proponent of what he calls "perspective" in COTG. He has often said that he never wanted the game to evolve to a point where the 2087 Thantos would rank only as a mid-carder in the current game year.
As of the year 2122, I had become skeptical with the coming of Monolith, Endgame, etc. I figured that there was no way for Thantos to still be relevant in 2122. So...I decided to try an experiment.
I used the PbP simulator to simulate 100 matches (standard / DQ twice) between Thantos and the current roster of 2122 (minus Kill Prey and Zygon). Here were my results:
Thantos 82 American Guy 18
Thantos 86 Anivar 14
Thantos 61 Bloodline 39
Thantos 68 Daimyo 32
Disaster 63 Thantos 37
Thantos 59 Encubus 41
Endgame 60 Thantos 39
Thantos 91 Gryt 9
Thantos 56 Havoc 44
Thantos 87 Malkuth 13
Monolith 63 Thantos 37
Thantos 89 Muss 11
Thantos 80 Panther Warrior 20
Thantos 57 Paralyze 43
Thantos 77 Payback 23
Thantos 90 Plethador 10
Thantos 77 Rage 23
Thantos 81 Reckless 19
Thantos 81 Retribution 19
Thantos 100 Scimitar 0 (Only shut out)
Thantos 61 Sly Drury 39
Thantos 73 Swarm 27
Thantos 55 Tauran 45
Thantos 86 Betrayer 14
Thantos 83 The Bomb 16
Thantos 66 Thraxx 34
Thantos 89 Tricks 11
Thantos 72 US Male 28
Thantos 60 Valour 40
Thantos 80 Vidtek 20
Thantos 63 Wolf 37
Thantos was 28-3 in his 31 100 match series. He lost only to Monolith, Endgame and Disaster. Thantos' overall record was 2223-875-2, or a 71.7 winning percentage.
I think it's fairly obvious to see that if Thantos were still in his prime in 2122, he'd easily be a main eventer and a threat to the GWF title.
Congratulations, Tom. I didn't think it would be possible...but you did it.
