2009 Booking Challenge Close Out Thread

The 2009 CotG/LOW Booking Challenge has come to an end! I hope it added something interesting and different to the board and was enjoyable for those participating and reading along.

I'd like to publicly acknowledge the unsung heroes who made this contest possible, our Panel of Judges (Cory Olson, Jon Knapik, Osk, Swarm, Tournament Master & Troy). They were all kind enough to participate at my request and their only reward was the knowledge that the hobby would be benefited from their involvement. They were all very generous to commit their time toward reading the threads, contributing challenges and ultimately providing a structure to determine a winner. This was an ambitious project and their output resulted in the production of over 90 booking challenges with very little in the way of delays in turn around time. They performed like a well oiled machine and made a difficult task look deceptively easy.

I'd also like to thank those posters who helped to carry this forum (and the board) over the last three months. Not only was the level of dedication impressive, but the quality of output that was consistently provided week in and week out was outstanding. You all raised the bar very high for those looking to push the creative envelope working with FG Products.

Those who made it through this 12 week period from start to finish were a very rare breed. Over 30 people registered, some never got off the ground and many dropped out along the way.

I know that wasn't an easy task and that it took a considerable investment of time and energy. I also appreciate the fact that if those efforts weren't being made...there wouldn't have been very much of a forum for this community to enjoy. At your leisure each of you can send me a PM with the FG Set of your choice and I'll be happy to hook you guys up. You all deserve it!

Clean Up

After the final vote is in each of the threads will be moved into their respective Fed Forum categories. This will allow people the option of continuing onward. If you prefer to have a thread locked just send me a PM.

Once the threads are moved, the Performance Table above will be archived into the Fed of the Month folder with anchored links inserted for ready reference and easy access.

Final Outcome

Allow a few days for the Judges to read over the material, make their final decisions and privately cast their votes. After all the scores are tallied the 2009 Filsinger Games Booking Challenge Champion will be crowned and their account will be titled.

I'll leave this thread open for anyone who wants to make any final comments before we close shop.

Just like I mentioned in my thread, and to mirror what LWPD wrote, I think the difficulty of this challenge is illustrated by the fact that only four of us saw it through to the end. I know free time was a major factor for some who could've turned out some great stuff (and, in fact, did from what was seen). The other three guys really brought it throughout, and their stuff was always fun to read (and I've stolen Spider-Nitro for a few appearances in my GWF fed, Valour).

For my part, I learned that I could probably never be a booker with any degree of interference involved! I guess I'm a control freak in that regard. The challenges really did cause me to stretch creatively though, and I think some of the stuff they pushed me to come up with ended up being better than what I would've come up with alone.

Thank you to everyone who worked at putting this together and all the guys who judged these things and came up with the challenges. It was a great experience.

As for the second part, I have to totally agree. I think because of the challenges, I was able to put something out there that was better than what I could have came up with by myself. It was fun for me to work within the boundaries of the challenges.

The time flew by though. Before I knew it the contest was over. Congratulations to everyone else in the contest too. I think we all added to something great for the community and I hope we'll see the Booking Challenge return in the future!

I would like to thank everyone involved in making this Booking Challenge successful; a HUGE shout out to LWPD for organizing it!!

To the other 3 three guys who brought it all the way to the final week; great job! You guys produced quality shows week in & week out that were always enjoyable to read. I have no idea at this point who is going to win this thing!!

When I read what this Challenge was all about; I knew it was right in my wheel-house. Adversity is where I thrive; this was right up my alley. Even still; I was stretched by a couple of the challenges with how to work them out just right. Thanks for that!!

All in all, I loved the Booking Challenge; I put all my other Feds on hold so that I could focus on every week; I hope that effort shows.

Good luck to the other three guys who made it all the way...each one of you deserve to win!!

Okay, so I guess I am the last of the final four to check in here. I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with the effort that everyone put in to this little challenge. I can honestly say this is one of the hardest things I've done for a fed. From the 18 man roster restriction to the challenges, it always was something to keep me on my toes.

As Eliath stated above, I too put my other feds on hold to focus on trying to come up with new ideas and ways to work in the challenges for this fed. I also was trying to mkake sure that BSW was different that the other feds running. While any COTG fed obviously has different characters compared to LOW, with Mark and I both running LOW/LOTF feds, I tried to make sure that what we were doing was different. I hope I accoplished that goal, as many of the same wrestlers appeared in both feds, but were used in different ways. I hope that it was interesting and fun for the readers.

To the other 3 of the final four, congrats guys. You all worked very hard on this and showed some great booking talent. I have enjoyed reading your feds and look to continue reading them after this (if you choose to move forward with them). You guys pushed me to do better and I hope that I did the same for you. Thanks for one heck of a ride!

In the course of a 12 week period Eliath finished at the top of the Performance Chart as he completed an astounding 36 booking challenges...a record which may never be broken! Perhaps even more impressive was the depth and complexity he put into his writing. He dealt with a wide array of issues that have rarely if ever been touched upon in the history of CotG/LOW Fed posting. The challenges he dealt with included unionization, venue problems, talent issues, complex event structures, corporate sponsorships and misdirection of planned angles.

If anyone is ever in need of inspiration as to what is possible working with Filsinger Games products, there is no better starting point than the work he produced with GWFZ: Mayhem.
