I am about to make some new COTG purchases, and I have some questions.
- What differences can I expect from the 2007 Update Charts? Is there any reason why I couldn't start using the charts during Invasion 2090?
- GWF Files #1 and GWF Files #2 look like very similar books to the uninitiated. Is GWF Files #2 just the most updated edition? What are the differences between the two books? If I can only buy one, which one should I buy?
- How important is the Promoter if I am not up-to-date with the other products?
- I get the impression that the GWFZ stuff is pretty amazing. Should I start picking up Promoter Madness items before I buy any of the products listed above?
Any comments are welcome. I'm excited to add more COTG stuff to my collection.

I see no reason why you couldn't use the charts for any year you choose. There is nothing specific about them that would prevent it.
GWF Files 2 will give you all of the statistical character info of the first one, as well as more up-to-date info. I would suggest buying Files 2.
Promoter is a matter of choice more than importance. If you have a demo account for COTGOnline (or if you don't, you can create one) you can see the front page of the newest issue of Promoter. That will give you an idea of what kinds of things you will find in any issue and you can make a decision on your own based on that.
I'm about to start picking up the GWFZ tuff myself, so I can't really comment much about it other than the fact that I, too, think it looks pretty cool.

The newer charts create a faster style of game play. The dice roll percentages are geared toward higher impact spots (add 1 moves, higher chance of achieving a Level 3 Offense consequence, ch moves work more, the ref can get knocked out, etc). I wrote an article in Promoter Issue 3 that breaks it down. It's good to have both buLt I prefer the older charts (for a more methodical pace). GWF Files 2 is an obvious update on 1. The COTG Files came out a few years after GWF Files 2 and the info in it supersedes them both. The difference is its only available in PDF form (FG stopped making the print guides). COTG Files I have a bias...but I'd recommend it as having a very practical value. Swarm built a great brand with PM. Creative was provided by many members of this board. The roster features a group of young/diverse upstart talent...many of whom are on the bubble of being called up to the big time. In fact some have later been written into the GWF. You can't go wrong with it.
