Fantastic show and kudos to the Hillbilly going at it with two of the most dangerous men in wrestling. I'd like to see Jim get some measure of revenge in a singles encounter against either Curry or Sully.
Great to see Rock Riddle appear and also fantastic (for me anyway) to see The Love Brothers best the Midnights.
My highlight though? A victory for Mike 'The Chest' Graham! Graham has not picked up one singles victory in Kat Rana's FPW so I can finally see him having his hand raised against a very dangerous opponent in Bobby Shane.

I could see Kenny King and D'Lo teaming together..."The New Age Gangstas"!

Thanks for the comments Pariah, Joebreakdown and Graymar. The debut of Rock Riddle was fun as I have plans for both him and Kenny King in the future. I loved the team name you suggested Graymar, I wish I had though of that when Brown and King were teaming. I may have to save that one for future use. Hillbilly Jim really took a beating in that tag main event but give him credit for hanging in there. Andre was a dominant force like always and the HOuse of Humperdink paid for it in the end. Joebreakdown that was a big win for Mike Graham, hopefully "The Chest" can pick up a win for Kat Rana in FPW soon. Next up is action from the AWE, I hope you enjoy it...
LOW American Wrestling Enterprise - Olympia Stadium - Detroit, MI (Card #984)
1) Finlay defeated Angelo Poffo: Two rugged veterans faced off in the opener as Angelo Poffo took on the “Belfast Bruiser” Finlay. Poffo recently lost in his bid to earn a spot in the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament so he was hoping to bounce back with a win here. Finlay took the lead early and scored a two count with Rolling Hills. He also applied the Celtic Knot before Poffo battled back hitting the running stomp and executing a rolling cradle. He also countered a deathjump by Finlay with a superplex. Finlay, perhaps out of desperation, used his controversial Shillelagh on Poffo knocking him out to score the pin. The crowd jeered the decision and Finlay soaked it up in true heel fashion.
2) Midnight Rockers defeated Naptown Dragons: The popular Midnight Rockers (Stan Lane & Marty Jannetty) took on the Naptown Dragons (“Die Hard” Dustin Lee & Scotty Vortekz) appearing courtesy of LOW All-Star Wrestling. The Dragons are a tough team that has picked up some big victories in LOW but they were no match for the Rockers here. Lane and Jannetty have expressed an interest in competing in the tag team Battle Royal during WrestleCade X weekend, where the winners will get a shot at the LOW World tag team titles on the big event, and they used this match to stake their claim to a spot. Lane, in particular, looked great during his time in and helped set up the finish as the Rockers hit the Flapjack on Lee with Jannetty scoring the pin.
3) Yukon Eric defeated The Terrible Turk by DQ: The powerful Yukon Eric out of Fairbanks, AK, took on The Terrible Turk (Youssuf Ishmaelo) from Shumia, Turkey, in a heated bout. The Turk looked solid in the early going as he had Eric in trouble several times. Eric made a brief comeback but then The Turk countered a hip toss and crushed him with a falling bodyslam. Eric bailed out of the ring to take a breather but The Turk followed him out. The two began trading blows back and forth and failed to listen to the instructions of the referee as he called for them to get back inside. The Turk took it a step further and blasted Eric with several chair shots resulting in the disqualification decision.
4) Lanny Poffo, Mikey Whipwreck, Jim Brunzell, & Fred Curry vs. King Kong Bundy, Mad Dog Vachon, Butcher Vachon, & Lord Zoltan was a Draw: Eight-man tag team action featured “Leaping” Lanny Poffo, Mikey Whipwreck, “Jumpin” Jim Brunzell and “Flying” Fred Curry joining forces to take on First Family members King Kong Bundy, Mad Dog Vachon, Butcher Vachon and Lord Zoltan. Manager Jimmy Hart was not at ringside for this one so Bundy took the lead trying to guide the faction to victory. The team led by Poffo showed some great offense and nearly won it several times, including Curry gaining a big near fall on Zoltan with the Machine Gun Dropkicks. Both Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon looked great for their team using some of their roughhousing offense to down the opposition. Zoltan nearly had it won late when he trapped Brunzell in the Triangle Death Grip but he managed to get to the ropes for a break. Poffo then nearly shocked the world when he caught Bundy with a counter sunset flip for a big near fall in the closing moments. Neither team was able to get a decision in the end resulting in a time limit draw.
5) Larry Zbyszko defeated Dan Severn: Dan “The Beast” Severn, a native of Coldwater, MI, received a great reaction from the crowd as he took on Larry Zbyszko, a hated member of the Heenan Family. It was Zbyszko going it alone in this one as manager Bobby “The Brain” Heenan was said to be away on business. Zbyszko angered the crowd and Severn in the early going by stalling and walking out onto the ring apron. Severn was so fired up by the time they locked up he immediately whipped Zbyszko hard into the turnbuckle. Severn then charged in but Zbyszko moved out of the way and executed a Counter Roll-Up while grabbing the ropes for extra leverage to score the pin. It was a shockingly quick and controversial win for the self proclaimed “Living Legend” over a former LOW World Heavyweight champion.
6) PWI Invitational Cup Tournament Qualifying Match: Tyler Black defeated Curt Hennig: The first of two qualifying matches saw two of the great young lions of LOW face off as PCW star Curt Hennig took on Tyler Black of the GWA. This was like a tale of two matches as early on it was Hennig dominating and later on it was Black dominating. Hennig controlled early including scoring a two count on Black hitting him with a running knee lift. He also nailed him with The Axe at one point. Black mounted his offensive after countering a forearm hammer and hitting a flying forearm into the corner. A subsequent reverse STO into the turnbuckle by Black resulted in a two count. The turnbuckle offense used by Black was very effective as Hennig was having a hard time mounting a counter attack. Black ultimately hit the Curb Stomp scoring a two count and then nailed Hennig with the deadly move a second time to score the pin. Black earned a huge win qualifying for the tournament but he has a tough draw as he will face Frank Gotch, a former LOW World Heavyweight champion, in the opening round during WrestleCade X weekend.
7) PWI Invitational Cup Tournament Qualifying Match: Blackjack Mulligan defeated Sabu: The “Homicidal, Genocidal, and Suicidal” Sabu, accompanied by his manager Bill Alfonso, representing the NWC took on SWA star Blackjack Mulligan in a highly anticipated qualifying match. Sabu showed no fear of his larger opponent as he took the fight to Mulligan from the opening bell. He connected with Air Sabu and the controversial Arabian facebuster, the latter of which resulted in a two count. The turning point for Mulligan came when he avoided the Triple Jump Moonsault and that led to a strong offensive. Mulligan used the trapezius claw to wear down Sabu and then scored a two count off of a bodyslam and press. A vicious back elbow ram caused Sabu to bail out of the ring where the battle continued. Mulligan was nearly disqualified when he ran Sabu into the ring post but the referee waived it off much to the delight of the crowd. As they battled back into the ring it was Mulligan blasting Sabu with the Lariat three consecutive times and that put him down for the count with Mulligan getting the victory via pinfall. Sabu was uncontrollable post-match as he tore up the ringside area and even shoved Alfonso when he tried to stop him. It took a number of LOW officials to finally restrain him and end a wild scene. Sabu and Alfonso are now en route to New York, NY, where he will face Dick Hutton in a heated grudge match at Madison Square Garden (Card #985). As for Mulligan he will be going on to WrestleCade X weekend where he will face fellow SWA star Angelo “King Kong” Mosca in the opening round of the tournament.
8) LOW World Heavyweight title: Johnny Valentine© defeated John Pesek to retain the title: The main event saw the “Nebraska Tiger Man” John Pesek going against Johnny Valentine, accompanied by his manager Sir Oliver Humperdink, for the LOW World Heavyweight title. Pesek dropped out of the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament qualifying round in order to receive what was his first ever shot at the LOW World Heavyweight title. This also marked the first title defense for Valentine since winning the belt from Bobo Brazil in Hampton, VA (Card #974). Pesek showed what he was made of in this match as he went toe-to-toe with Valentine much of the way. There was a great stretch for Pesek where he caught Valentine with the lateral press keylock and fireman’s carry slam causing the champion to bail out of the ring. Valentine returned with a vengeance and twice hit the Atomic Skullcrusher resulting in near falls. He also used traditional scientific holds like the standing arm lock and abdominal stretch to keep Pesek on the defensive. Pesek made a nice comeback with a counter into the double bar hammerlock putting Valentine on notice. A third Atomic Skullcrusher by Valentine only netted a two count as Pesek kicked out to a big pop from the crowd. Frustration was setting in for Valentine but he found a way to end it when he caught Pesek with a big Forearm Hammer to score a snake eyes pin and retain the title. Valentine wasn’t finished there, however, as with Humperdink distracting the referee he blasted Pesek with another Atomic Skullcrusher knocking him out cold. Pesek had to be assisted back to the locker room and was diagnosed with a concussion that will keep him out of action for a few weeks. Valentine blew off a few local reporters post-match as he and Humperdink quickly left the arena heading to New York City for a big night at Madison Square Garden.

Another solid card from Detroit. The PWI tournament opening round is shaping up to a classic event.

Ouch! Difficult to watch two of my favorites get knocked out in the qualification round for the PWI Invitational... With Hennig and Sabu both out of the running, I'm really looking ahead to Moxley vs The Mountie to decide who I'd like to see go all the way... It was really cool that the ref offered Blackjack and Sabu a lot of leniency, allowing the two hard hitting competitors to take their fight to a decisive finish... Sabu looks more intense than ever and I wouldn't want to be a certain Mr Hutton when those two face off at MSG...
Brilliant main event with Valentine scoring the pinfall to retain the LOW World Heavyweight Championship... Not impressed with the post-match antics of Humperdink's client... Hopefully, Pesek recovers fully without any complications...
In other action, pleased with the solid performance by the Midnight Rockers near the top of the card... And I must admit that I was a bit surprised that Severn lost his composure against Zbyszko, leading to a disappointing loss...
The road to WrestleCade X continues in highly entertaining fashion, my friend... Exceptional work!

I am also a big fan of both Sabu and Curt Hennig and was hoping to see both men advance but the dice rolled in the favor of Black and Mulligan at the end. Sabu is going to be a focal point of upcoming events and we will see how he does against Dick Hutton at MSG. I even have a booking planned for Sabu in the IWA in my next game year so stay tuned. For the record here are the matches set up for the first round of the PWI Cup with three still to be decided: Fred Blassie vs. Ox Baker King Kong Bundy vs. Killer Kowalski Jim Londos vs. Tracy Smothers Frank Gotch vs. Tyler Black Angelo Mosca vs. Blackjack Mulligan Antonino Rocca vs. winner of Larry Zbyszko vs. Don Leo Jonathan (Card #986) The Crusher vs. winner of 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Gorgeous George (Card #987) Magnum T.A. vs. winner of Jon Moxley vs. The Mountie (Card #987)

I'm amp'd to see the final match up's for your PWiT and it would be cool to see Magnum T.A. versus The Mountie, which makes me think that would have been a cool feud in real life. I definitely would like to see Gorgeous George making it into the tourney, but it won't be easy. I wonder with his victory over Dan Severn, if that'll give Zbyszko that edge to advance into the next stage of the tournament...

Zbyszko must have some serious momentum going after his timely win over the Beast... And although I'm a big fan of Moxley, I'd really like to see The Mountie vs Magnus T.A... The PWI Invitational is going to be a banner event!

Thanks for the comments Crimson and Pariah. The PWI Invitational Cup Tournament is really shaping up nicely and I see that both of you want The Mountie to advance against Magnum T.A. It won't be easy against Jon Moxley but The Mountie will have an advantage as Sherri Martel will be in his corner for the match. I agree with you on Larry Zbyszko as well regarding momentum but he will be giving up a lot of size against Don Leo Jonathan.
