Thanks for the comments Bookerbill and Kamala. The Bill Alfonso situation is really key here as he wasn't an official referee in LOW when Andre and Heenan selected him so I'm not sure if they should be penalized for attacking him. I guess we will see how things roll on the Commissioner Charlie Cox card to see what will happen in this explosive situation. Next up is some PCW action, hope you enjoy it...
LOW Pacific Coast Wrestling - San Diego Sports Arena - San Diego, CA (Card #1025)
1) Tugboat Taylor defeated Dupae Rupa by DQ:
The opening contest saw the popular Tugboat Taylor out of Clinton, IA, taking on “The Belgian Brawler” Dupae Rupa appearing courtesy of LOW All-Star Wrestling. The early action was full of give and take before Rupa stunned Taylor with the Belgian Neckbreaker followed up by a superkick. Taylor battled back, though, and had Rupa in trouble after a backbreaker and knee drop. Things then went out to the floor where Rupa held the upper hand until surprisingly Sherri Martel, the head of SSA, Inc, ran down and jumped on the back of Taylor choking him out. Rupa backed off as Sherri followed up by removing her shoe and blasting Taylor in the head with it. The referee called for the bell giving Taylor the win via disqualification which angered Rupa. Martel ran off as Taylor recovered wondering what had just happened to him. Rupa angrily went after Taylor but was quickly fended off when the 325-pounder hit him with a stomach bump sending the “Belgian Brawler” flying backward.
2) The Sheepherders defeated Scott Casey & Sam Houston:
The popular Texas twosome of Scott Casey & Sam Houston teamed up to battle The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) who were accompanied by their manager Sir Oliver Humperdink. Unfortunately for Casey and Houston their lack of experience as a team really hurt them here as Humperdink had The Sheepherders primed and ready to attack. They did a great job of cutting off the ring getting the heat on Casey as Houston desperately tried to tag in. A barrage of rapid fire knee drops had Casey in a bad way as Humperdink called for the finish. The Sheepherders nailed Casey with the Double Gutbuster and Williams covered him for the pin as Miller prevented Houston from making the save. The Sheepherders roughed up Houston post-match before tossing him out of the ring. They then grabbed the flag of New Zealand, which Humperdink had attached to his Singapore cane, and stood holding it up over the fallen Casey as the crowd jeered.
3) Dutch Savage defeated The Mountie:
The master of the Coal Miners Glove Match, Dutch Savage out of Scranton, PA, took on key Sherri Sports Agency, Inc. member The Mountie who was accompanied to ringside by Sherri Martel. The crowd jeered Sherri loudly over her earlier actions attacking Tugboat Taylor but The Mountie came to her defense threatening a few of the ringsiders with his Shock Stick. The Mountie started this one off aggressively but Savage quickly turned the tables and nailed him with a big clothesline. He then hit his trademark Running Piledriver but the referee was late in making the count as Martel tried to interfere only to have Tugboat Taylor show up and pull her off of the ring apron causing her to run to the back. The Mountie managed to kick out of the pin and then reached out for Taylor for grabbing his manager. That was a mistake as The Mountie turned around and Savage was ready catching him with another Running Piledriver to score the pin. The crowd cheered the win by Savage who was quick to thank Taylor for having his back in the two-on-one situation he was up against with SSA, Inc.
4) Brad Armstrong & B.G. James defeated Eddie & Doug Gilbert:
The heat was off the charts for this latest family warfare showdown with Brad Armstrong & B.G. James teaming up against “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Doug Gilbert in a battle of two brother teams. Their respective fathers, “Bullet” Bob Armstrong and Tommy Gilbert, were out at ringside for the introductions but the referee ordered them to the back hoping to prevent outside interference. Conspicuous by his absence was Jimmy Hart, the manager of the Gilbert Family, who was said to be away on business. Brad surprised Eddie with the Russian Leg Sweep early but “Hot Stuff” kicked out with authority. Doug tagged in and used aggressive tactics including attacking both Brad and James on the floor. James mounted a comeback for his team and caught Doug with the Shake, Rattle and Roll Knee Drop for a big near fall. Brad later caught Eddie with a second Russian Leg Sweep and fended off a save attempt by Doug but the late cover resulted in only a two count being scored. Things built up to a wild finish with Brad nailing Eddie with a knee lift and making the tag. That led to James hitting the James Gang Pounce on Eddie before trapping him in a Sleeper Hold. Doug desperately tried to save his brother but Brad cut him off and the sleeper did the job as Eddie drifted off and the Armstrong Family members got the victory via submission.
5) Chaz Taylor defeated Playboy Buddy Rose:
With the tension already building between Tugboat Taylor and Sherri Martel throughout the night there was no telling what was going to happen when Chaz Taylor, the son of Tugboat, took on the cornerstone of SSA, Inc. in one Playboy Buddy Rose. This grudge match was set up due to an incident on the last PCW card where Rose accused Chaz of “making a pass” at his girlfriend Martel when it was actually the other way around. Rose and Martel kissed each other and taunted Chaz who got some last minute instructions from his father. Tugboat then left ringside due to not having a manager’s license leaving Chaz in a tough spot having to face Rose with Martel on the outside. Taylor fared well in the early going frustrating Rose at every turn. He eventually hit the Chaztizer, his version of the superkick, but Martel distracted the referee preventing a pin. A second delivery of the Chaztizer saw The Mountie run down to ringside and pull Taylor out of the ring as Martel again distracted the referee. That led to Tugboat returning and he battled The Mountie out at ringside with the two taking it back to the locker room. Rose, meanwhile, mounted a strong comeback including hitting the Bombs Away for a big near fall. He also used a foreign object and hit key moves like the DDT and gut wrench backbreaker. Things looked bleak for Taylor until he caught Rose with a counter and then hit a Flying Bodypress from the top rope to score the pin. It was a huge win for the young Taylor who rolled out of the ring and celebrated with the fans as Rose and Martel argued with the referee over the decision.
6) Mil Mascaras defeated Ray Stevens:
Record seven-time LOW World Heavyweight champion Mil Mascaras, the “Man of 1,000 Masks”, was looking for revenge as he took on Ray “The Crippler” Stevens who was accompanied by his manager Sir Oliver Humperdink. Stevens scored the fall on Mascaras in a recent six-man tag team match spoiling the PCW debut of the Mexican superstar. Stevens was aggressive from the opening bell attacking with brawling punches but Mascaras made a quick counter and applied the bow and arrow for a submission chance. He then took to the air several times including hitting the Crossbody Attack for a near fall. Stevens gained the upper hand during a battle on the outside and then hit key moves like the jumping knee smash to keep Mascaras on the defensive. It was a quick counter by Mascaras that led to the finish as locked on the Indian Deathlock and then transitioned into the Octopus Hold forcing Stevens to tap out. Mascaras won it by submission and served notice to Humperdink and his men that he will be a force to be reckoned with in PCW.
7) LOW Tex-Arkana Television title: Roderick Strong© defeated Pepper Gomez to retain the title:
The popular Pepper Gomez out of Mexico City, Mexico, took on Roderick Strong, accompanied by his manager Truth Martini, for the LOW Tex-Arkana Television title. The always boastful Martini quoted from page 28 of the Book of Truth saying that Gomez had “a cast iron stomach but he will be all ache after being defeated by the Messiah of the Backbreaker”. The twenty-eight, of course, referred to the number of successful title defenses that Strong would have should he win the match. It was a determined Strong taking the early offensive as he quickly stunned Gomez with Death by Roderick. Martini gloated at ringside drawing jeers from the crowd who then tried to rally Gomez. He mounted a brief attack before Strong caught him with the Gibson Driver and that really shook up Gomez. Moments later it was Strong hitting the Half Nelson Backbreaker and he quickly cradled the legs of Gomez to score the pin. It was a shockingly quick win for Strong and it resulted in a successful version twenty-eight defense of the title. A jubilant Martini handed the title belt to Strong and then held up the Book of Truth taunting Gomez. The crowd jeered that and Gomez got some revenge as he grabbed Martini and slung him into Strong causing both men to fall over the top rope to the floor.
8) Roddy Piper & John Tolos defeated Fred Blassie & Jimmy Snuka:
The main event saw the “King of Men” Fred Blassie, a two-time LOW World Heavyweight champion and PWI Invitational Cup Tournament winner, join forces with another former two-time LOW World Heavyweight champion in Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka. The two took on the arrogant combination of “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and the “Golden Greek” John Tolos in a highly anticipated main event. “The Ace” Cowboy Bob Orton, the bodyguard of Piper, was out at ringside drawing the ire of Blassie and Snuka as it was more of a three-on-two situation. Blassie took out his aggression on both men early nailing both Piper and Tolos with the low blow. Snuka tagged in and did a number on Tolos hitting the flying headbutt followed by a leap frog and chop for a near fall. Blassie continued the attack biting Tolos and then rolling him up for a two count. Tolos managed a comeback on Snuka outside the ring and then hit the Flying Knee Drop for a big near fall. Piper got involved using a Foreign Object attack on Snuka for a two count. The crowd was whipped into a frenzy by this point and the finish came when Piper stunned Snuka with a back suplex and then hit a Bulldog to score the pin as Orton held down Snuka’s legs from the outside. Blassie immediately grabbed the referee to argue the decision but was then hit from behind by Tolos who tossed him out of the ring. Tolos attacked Blassie on the floor as Orton jumped in and joined Piper in a two-on-one attack on Snuka. They busted Snuka open and left him lying in a pool of his own blood until Blassie managed to fend of Tolos and grabbed a chair clearing the ring. When Snuka recovered he let out a blood curdling yell and grabbed the mic demanding his attackers to face him on the next PCW card in Los Angeles, CA (Card #1037). It was later learned that it will be Blassie, Snuka and “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas taking on Piper, Orton and Tolos in a big six-man tag team match at the Olympic Auditorium.
