As always, it's a treat to see Mr X in action! I have to repeat what Crimson Cross and Pariah said, that was a fun Battle Royal and a great win for Marty Jannetty! Disappointing to see Al Snow go out first though, and ousted by his own tag partner no less...

Thanks for the comments Crimson, Pariah and Kat Rana. Pariah in answer to your question the record for that title is held by The Sheik with fourteen successful title defenses. I was shocked when Marty Jannetty won that over Big John Studd but the finish allowed me to have some fun and book that Rockers vs. Studd & Dillon tag match. Next up is more wild and wacky action from 80's Mania Wrestling with a tag team title tournament and another crazy Battle Royal result. Hope you enjoy the action...
80's Mania Wrestling - Between A Rock And An Orange Place - Canada Centre (Card #1057)
● The capacity crowd inside the Canada Centre let out a roar as the beloved Honest Al, dressed up in an old timey baseball uniform, made his way onto the stage with none other than Geddy Lee, the lead singer of Canada’s own Rush. Al congratulated Lee on Rush being elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and made note of his great love for Major League Baseball. Lee acknowledged that he is an avid fan and asked Al if he was going to be trying out for a team. Al said he was going to try out for the position of quarterback for the Montreal Blue Jays. The crowd seemed confused, and some even playfully jeered, until Lee corrected him that the team was the Montreal Expos and that quarterback is a position for a football player not a baseball player. Al said he knew that and he was just having some fun because fun is what 8MW is all about. Al said he asked Lee to attend for a very special reason as it was time to celebrate two of Canada’s most beloved baseball stars who both had their greatest years with the Expos – “Le Grand Orange” Rusty Staub and “The Rock” Tim Raines, a newly elected member of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. The crowd erupted in cheers as Staub and Raines made their way onto the stage carrying a gift box. Lee took over saying that it was an honor to meet two great stars from the Expos and revealed that he had spoken to Mr. Fantasy, the acting 8MW Commissioner, in order to deliver this surprise to Honest Al on his birthday. Al was taken aback as Lee led the crowd in singing Happy Birthday to him while Staub and Raines presented him with the gift. Al frantically tore the box open and pulled out a lifelike replica bust of himself holding up a golden microphone. Al had tears in his eyes and said that this was the greatest day of his life but that for once he was lost for words. Rex Spectrum then appeared on the video wall and said that Al will need time to compose himself so he was announcing that the first round of the 8MW World tag team title tournament would begin immediately…
● 8MW World tag team title tournament – Round One:
1) American Heroes defeated Johnny Kobra & Tennis Pro: With Geddy Lee, Rusty Staub and Tim Raines taking seats at ringside it was time for the opening contest as the American Heroes (Dangerzone & Warhawk) took on Johnny Kobra & Tennis Pro. Kobra, accompanied by Valley Girl, tried to intimidate the Heroes with karate poses while Pro, holding his tennis racquet, threatened the baseball players at ringside. The Heroes are normally huge fan favorites but there was some surprisingly negative reaction to them likely due to the show taking place in Montreal, better known as “bizzaro world” in some wrestling circles. The Heroes shook that off and dominated this one from start to finish. Dangerzone roughed up Kobra before hitting the Jet Fighter, a flying Superman punch. Warhawk then took over and, as Pro continued yelling at Staub and Raines from the ring apron, he nailed Kobra with hand-to-hand combat followed by a Double Knee Drop for the pin. The Heroes advanced to round two while an irate Pro yelled at the ball players some more and then at the referee. Kobra, meanwhile, inexplicably blamed the loss on Valley Girl and ordered her to return to the back drawing jeers from the crowd.
2) Neon Express defeated Little Shop of Horrors: The popular Neon Express (Chet Skye & Jesse Wild) took on the devastating new team of Little Shop of Horrors (Slashmaster & Keith Blood) who were accompanied by their manager Gothica. The Express had hoped to face the Metalheads (Cesar Sleaze & Dizzy Lixx), who attacked them in the parking lot at the last 8MW event, in the opening round but acting 8MW Commissioner Mr. Fantasy did not grant them their wish. The intimidating Slashmaster, at 6’10” and 320-pounds, looked awesome during his time in as he rag dolled both members of the Express. That forced the Express to adjust their game plan and they focused on Blood attempting to keep him in the ring and keep Slashmaster out. The adjusted game plan worked and in short order they had Blood in trouble and hit the Torpedo Dropkicks with Skye covering him to score the pin. Slashmaster erupted in anger following the loss tearing up the ringside area before Blood and Gothica got him under control. The win by the Express set up an interesting battle of good guy teams in the second round as they go up against the American Heroes.
3) The Adventurers defeated Metalheads: The Adventurers (Arizona Chance & Red Pirate Rogers) took on the Metalheads (Cesar Sleaze & Dizzy Lixx) in the next match. This was the in-ring debut in 8MW for the Metalheads who looked to rock on to round two. They had trouble early as Chance and Rogers were on point dominating the action. Chance hit the Last Crusade, a flying lariat off the ropes, on Lixx but he impressively kicked out at two as Sleaze was prevented by Rogers from making a save. The Metalheads gained control soon after and scored a big near fall on Rogers after hitting Skid Row. The battle between the two teams grew in intensity from there and the Metalheads, in particular, were looking really good. The platform boot stomps by Sleaze on Rogers resulted in another near fall. Lixx was nearly disqualified when he used the Drum Stick Jab in his attack on Rogers. It was a hot tag to Chance that turned things around and it was a second Last Crusade on Lixx that resulted in the pin and moved the Adventurers on to the next round.
4) The Masterminds defeated Rad Racer & Bug Buster: The final first round match saw Rad Racer & Bug Buster join forces to take on The Masterminds (Cobalt Commander & Skullgore) who were accompanied by The Thinker. Most experts felt that The Masterminds would roll over the opposition here but Racer and Buster proved otherwise. They had Cobalt and Skullgore, not to mention The Thinker, in fits for most of the match. The good guy duo went on a tear at one point and nearly took the victory. Racer caught Cobalt with the Cannonball Run for a big near fall and that set up Buster trapping him in Extermination, a Boston Crab hold. Cobalt nearly tapped out but was saved by Skullgore. The Thinker was beside himself at ringside as his team attempted to rally back. It was Skullgore that would prove to be the key to victory as he nailed Buster with a clothesline off the ropes followed by the Diving Skullbutt to score the pin. The bad guy team took it by force in the end but not after an admirable performance by Racer and Buster.
● Birthday boy Honest Al, having recovered from his earlier surprise, made his way down to ringside where he greeted more celebrities in the crowd including some of the cast of Canada’s own SCTV, a comedy program many believe to be even better than Saturday Night Live. Sitting at ringside were Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty and the lovely Catherine O’Hara. Al of course noticed an empty seat next to O’Hara and quickly sat next to her putting on the charm. He angled for a birthday kiss but his fun didn’t last as a finger poked his shoulder and said “Hey pal, you’re in my seat”. Al slowly turned and looked up to see a huge frame and it was none other than John Candy, another beloved member of the SCTV cast. Al didn’t take any chances and quickly got up so Candy could take his seat. Al gushed over the SCTV stars trying to get pictures and autographs, and of course the kiss, but he was politely asked to move as the next match was coming up…
5) 10-Man Battle Royal for an 8MW World Heavyweight title shot: Mr. Fantasy set up this special 10-Man Battle Royal in which the winner would receive a title match with 8MW World Heavyweight champion Jet Set Strutter at Silver Stadium (Card #1067). The most interesting aspect of it, though, was that Strutter himself was entered in the match. That came about due to negotiations by his acting manager Big Boss Jr. who got Mr. Fantasy to agree to allow him to enter. In a pre-show interview with Rex Spectrum it was learned that Big Boss Jr. asked for Strutter to be involved knowing full well that if the champion won there would be no title challenger on the next show. It was a brilliant move by Big Boss Jr. who staggered out of the interview area exclaiming “Them Dukes, Them Dukes!” for some reason. The Battle Royal featured a great field of talent including 8MW newcomers Buzzsaw and Pelvis Pressly all hoping to win this great opportunity.
Strutter surveyed the field but looked a little nervous knowing that there was a big target on his back. He stood behind Dark Invader, who is something of an ally, and dared the field to approach him. As it turned out Invader warded off the rest but then turned his attention on a shocked champion. Strutter was in serious trouble but he somehow managed to turn the tables and eliminated Invader to the shock of many. Dark Invader was extremely upset and slammed the ring apron before storming back to the locker room. Strutter, meanwhile, rolled under the bottom rope to confer with Big Boss Jr. as the rest of the field battled it out. A shocking elimination came next as Pelvis Pressly ousted Mighty Leo who was considered one of the favorites to win the match. Another shocker saw Star Boy dump Hammerhead over the top rope after catching him with a missile dropkick. Pelvis would return for another shocker as he pulled Strutter into the ring by the hair and, after a brief offensive, he tossed the world champion over the top rope to big cheers from the crowd. Strutter was furious and he had to be restrained by Big Boss Jr. while Pressly wildly shook his hips in celebration. Star Boy would join Pressly in scoring a second surprise elimination when he ousted the larger Buzzsaw after a Flying Cross Chop. The surprises didn’t end there as Pressly outdid himself by avoiding a charge by Lazer and sending him over the top courtesy of a hip swivel high knee smash. That left a matchup of Star Boy against Pressly with an 8MW World Heavyweight title shot hanging in the balance. The two had quite a battle before Pressly completed his magical night as he hit a piledriver and then tossed Star Boy over the top rope. That action earned him the shot at Strutter at Silver Stadium and Pressly celebrated with more dancing moves much to the chagrin of an angry Strutter who had returned to ringside taunting him with the title belt.
Order of Elimination:
● Dark Invader (by Jet Set Strutter) ● Mighty Leo (by Pelvis Pressly) ● The Piranha (by Buzzsaw) ● Hammerhead (by Star Boy) ● Ace Arcadium (by Lazer) ● Jet Set Strutter (by Pelvis Pressly) ● Buzzsaw (by Star Boy) ● Lazer (by Pelvis Pressly) ● Star Boy (by Pelvis Pressly) W) Pelvis Pressly
● 8MW World tag team title tournament – Round Two:
6) American Heroes defeated Neon Express: The second round opened up with a battle of good guys as the American Heroes (Dangerzone & Warhawk) took on the Neon Express (Chet Skye & Jesse Wild). Both teams shook hands at the bell setting the stage for an all important battle. The Express did a great job of keeping the momentum early using quick tags and forcing the Heroes to rethink their game plan. Wild caught Dangerzone with a DDT for a two count before the Top Gun Academy native struck back. He connected with a cross body block and chin checker before making the tag. Warhawk exploded into action hitting key moves like the top rope smash and double knee drop. The Express staged a late rally, including executing the tandem Neon Dreams, but it was not enough. The finish saw Warhawk with another strong offensive before he hit First Blood, a leaping piledriver, on Skye to score the pin. It was an impressive victory for the American Heroes who staked their claim to a spot in the final round.
7) The Masterminds defeated The Adventurers: The other second round match featured The Adventurers (Arizona Chance & Red Pirate Rogers) taking on The Masterminds (Cobalt Commander & Skullgore) who had The Thinker in their corner. The Masterminds had a scare against Rad Racer & Bug Buster in the opening round and looked to get this one over quickly. Cobalt pounced on Chance early and trapped him in the Cobalt Clutch which nearly resulted in a submission. Chance battled back quickly nailing Cobalt with a Samoan Drop for a two count. Rogers starred for The Adventurers as he reversed the momentum for a good stretch. He dazzled with the Swordsman’s Parry and the swan dive leap, the latter of which resulted in a two count on Skullgore. The Thinker attempted to rally his troops with some words of wisdom and it seemed to work. Skullgore used the Hypnotic Grip on Rogers and then nearly put him away with the mandible claw. Chance got back in late and hit the flying clothesline on Cobalt knocking him out of the ring. That is where The Thinker got involved as he tossed a pair of brass knuckles to Cobalt who decked Chance with them. The referee failed to see that infraction and back inside Cobalt trapped the near unconscious chance in the Cobalt Clutch. Rogers attempted a save but was cut off by Skullgore and moments later the referee called for the bell sending The Masterminds to the final round with a submission victory.
8) War of the Gargantuans: Dude Brohan defeated Pierre the Enormous: There could be no bigger match than this one and it was appropriately dubbed the “War of the Gargantuans”. Dude Brohan (6’7” and 300-pounds from Muscle Beach) took on Pierre the Enormous (7’5” and 500 pounds from the French Alps) in what was a highly anticipated battle. This also marked the in-ring debut in 8MW for both men adding more pressure to the participants. The early action saw Pierre dominating using his colossal size. He hoisted Brohan up for a bodyslam and then out of nowhere he delivered the Ginormous Drop. That looked to be it for Brohan but somehow he easily kicked out of the pin and then battled back knocking Pierre down to the mat. Seconds later Brohan hit the Big Bro Leg Drop and hook the leg of Pierre to score the pin. The Canada Centre rocked with thunderous cheers as Brohan did what many thought couldn’t be done and pinned Pierre for a three count. Pierre was furious with the result and argued with the referee even crushing him into the corner but Brohan came to the aid of the official. He hammered away at Pierre and then delivered the Dude Boot sending him crashing over the top rope to the floor. That drew even more cheers from the crowd and an irate Pierre proceeded to wreck the ringside area. The SCTV stars scattered for safety as Pierre headed their way. Brohan saw that and came to their rescue again battling Pierre down the aisle of the arena. It was a wild scene as the two giants disappeared behind the curtain trading blows. It took a number of 8MW officials and wrestlers to pull the two apart. Brohan scored an historic win leaving Pierre with an 0-1 record in 8MW.
9) 8MW World tag team title tournament – Final Round: The Masterminds defeated American Heroes to win the titles: The final round of the tournament was a classic battle of good guys versus bad guys as the American Heroes (Dangerzone & Warhawk) took on The Masterminds (Cobalt Commander & Skullgore) who were again accompanied by their manager The Thinker. The crowd was primed and ready for this one and since this match was taking place in “bizarro world” support of the two teams was split. The Masterminds got off to a strong start using quick tags to control the action. Dangerzone took a good beating from both opponents as Warhawk tried to rally him from the ring apron. The American Heroes would finally break through when Warhawk came out on top in hand-to-hand combat against Cobalt. A diving lariat had him in trouble but Cobalt was able to rally and make the tag. The Thinker paced nervously at ringside as everything was on the line in this match. The match turned back in favor of The Masterminds when Cobalt laid out Dangerzone with a back suplex and made the tag to Skullgore. The tough fighter from Castle Goreskull used the Hypnotic Grip on Dangerzone and then followed up hitting the Crossbone Body Block for the pin. The Thinker grabbed the title belts away from the referee and gave them to his men who held them up in defiance even taunting the American Heroes with them. It was a huge victory for The Masterminds as they were crowned the inaugural 8MW World tag team champions capping of a memorable night of action.

It's pretty simple, your 80's Mania Wrestling is outstanding and it's a great read. That opening with Al was very funny, Montreal Blue Jays LOL. I was looking to see the American Heroes win, but those nasty evil Masterminds grab the gold. I must say Pelvis getting a title shot is big time and can he shake his hips to the top, or will he just end up losing...

Although I'm not much of a Rush fan (absolutely phenomenal musicians, but just couldn't get into Lee's voice), it was great to see them in attendance to represent Canada along with some other excellent celebrities - Very clever show title, btw...
Would have liked to see the Adventurers become the inaugural tag champs... But, my disappointment was easily forgotten thanks to that spectacular performance by the One True King... It would be totally righteous if Pelvis manages to defeat Strutter and take his rightful place on the 8MW throne... Lord, have mercy...
Also enjoyed the encounter between Dude and Pierre... Which brings me to another question (I know, I'm full of 'em)... Would you ever consider having 8MW characters square off against real Legends? For example, Andre vs Pierre? Not even sure that would be sensible from a stats perspective... Just curious...
As always, your 8MW fed provided some awesome, light hearted entertainment... And Happy Birthday to Al!

Despite being the territory in your fed that I am least interested in, 80MW is so damn entertaining! You make great choices for your pop culture references. (And I'm one of those that believe SCTV was better than SNL in the 80s!)

Thanks for the comments Crimson, Pariah and Aceldamas and hell yeah SCTV was the better show in the 80's. With this 8MW card being in Canada I just had to have the SCTV stars involved as that show never gets the credit it fully deserves. Just look at the cast members I listed, that is an amazing assemblage of talent. Now I need to track down some SCTV which I did watch often back in those days.
Pariah, Geddy Lee is certainly an acquired taste as far as a lead vocalist and for the longest time I was not a fan of Rush but in recent years I have come to really enjoy the band. Geddy is a huge MLB fan and also Canadian so it gave me a great opportunity to use him here along with two of my baseball favorites, Rusty Staub and Tim Raines.
As for the show I really enjoyed rolling out that tag title tournament and The Masterminds proved to be the best team on the night, althoughthey had a couple of close calls. Pelvis Pressly winning the Battle Royal was a huge shock to me but his title match vs. Jet Set Strutter should be fun. Pierre the Enormous vs. Andre the Giant? I like the idea, Pariah, but I likely won't do that as I am using the 8MW guys seperate from my other territories. They are "sports entertainment" as opposed to the "pro Wrestling" offered in my other feds. Shocking to see Pierre start out his 8MW career at 0-1 but credit Dude Brohan for coming through with a big win.

SHIMMER - Women Athletes - Volume 39 - The Eagles Club - Berwyn, IL (Card #1058)
1) Kelly Klein defeated Brittany Blake: Brittany Blake, a native of Blackwood, NJ, has thus far been unbeaten in SHIMMER but she faced a serious test in the powerful Kelly Klein, a Cincinnati, OH, native who was making her SHIMMER debut. Blake fared well in the early going including making a nice counter delivering the wheelbarrow bulldog. Klein went on a big offensive at the midway point delivering power moves like the side backbreaker, fallaway slam and German Suplex. The finishing sequence saw control switch before Klein caught Blake in the End of the Match, a guillotine choke, to score a submission victory. Klein gave a bold post-match promo calling out the likes of Cheerleader Melissa, Trish Stratus and Barbi Hayden noting she was going to mow down the competition on her way to claiming gold.
2) Angelus Layne & Veda Scott defeated Xandra Bale & KC Spinelli: Tag team competition has really been heating up in SHIMMER and a new team looking to make waves is Balespin, Xandra Bale & KC Spinelli. Their debut tag match saw them face a very tough pairing in Angelus Layne & Veda Scott. The action was pretty even through the early going before Spinelli took over planting Scott with the Tiger Bomb. That set up an opening for Balespin but they were unable to put the opposition away. Layne made a comeback for her team nailing Bale with Victory Lane for a big near fall. That left Bale in a bad way and she was attacked by both Layne and Scott outside the ring. Spinelli argued with the referee distracting him allowing Scott to throw Bale head first into the ring post. Back inside it was Scott coming off of the top rope with a Flying Bodypress and grabbing a handful of tights on Bale to score the pin.
3) Taeler Hendrix defeated Solo Darling: The quirky but popular Solo Darling, the “Sugar Creature” complete with a tail and sugary drink, faced the beautiful but dangerous Taeler Hendrix, a native of South Boston, MA, who was making her SHIMMER debut. Hendrix nearly won it in the opening moments as she avoided a corner charge and used a counter roll-up followed up by a Tombstone Piledriver for consecutive near falls. Hendrix stayed on top of Darling using the bridging rear chinlock and Ginger Snap, among other moves, until Darling grabbed her drink for a Sugar Rush. Darling followed up with a strong attack including executing the Tailspin, a spinning fisherman neckbreaker, for a near fall with Hendrix getting her foot over the bottom rope. A great spot followed as Taylor went for the cartwheel forearm but Darling countered with a spear. The tense battle ended when Hendrix made a counter and caught Darling with a Cobra Clutch Suplex (ch) to score the pin. Amber Gertner caught up with Hendrix at ringside afterward but Hendrix brushed her away saying that as one of the “beautiful people” she couldn’t associate with commoners which drew jeers from the crowd.
4) Madison Rayne, Mia Yim & Marti Belle defeated Jessie McKay, Saturyne & Delilah Doom: Trios action was up next featuring Jessie McKay, Saturyne & Delilah Doom taking on Madison Rayne, Mia Yim & Marti Belle. The crowd was solidly behind the team of McKay, Saturyne and Doom and the three did great during the early part of the match. It was Rayne that turned it around when she laid out McKay with a boot to the head. That set up a tag to Yim who hit the Package Piledriver on McKay for a big near fall. Saturyne and Doom made the save there and that set off a six-way brawl that the referee had a hard time breaking up. When the smoke cleared Belle made a blind tag with Yim and planted a stunned McKay with Hell’s Bells, a kneeling somersault neckbreaker, to score the pin.
5) Vanessa Kraven defeated Candice LeRae: The popular Candice LeRae out of Anaheim, CA, took on Vanessa Kraven, “The Mountain” out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Kraven was accompanied to the ring by former SHIMMER champion Jessicka Havok setting up an intimidating situation for LeRae. The referee ordered Havok to leave but she refused and it was a standoff until SHIMMER promoter Dave Prazak intervened. He demanded that Havok leave ringside but she stepped towards him only to be cut off by officials. Prazak said that if Havok didn’t leave then her rematch with SHIMMER champion Saraya Knight at Volume 40 was off. Havok sneered at Prazak and the officials but then left so that the match could get underway. LeRae was distracted by the situation with Havok and Kraven took full advantage of that dominating the action from the opening bell. It was a brutal display by Kraven who rag dolled LeRae in and out of the ring. A choke bomb led to a Sitout Power Bomb but LeRae kicked out just before the three count. Kraven didn’t miss a step and gave LeRae a second consecutive Sitout Power Bomb which this time resulted in the pin. LeRae needed assistance leaving the ring as Kraven stared down Prazak seemingly attempting to intimidate the SHIMMER promoter.
6) Crazy Mary Dobson & Rhia O’Reilly defeated Regeneration-X: Grudge tag team action saw Regeneration-X (Allison Danger & Leva Bates) take on Crazy Mary Dobson & Rhia O’Reilly. R-X are known for their creative entrance gear but this time they came out covered in sacks from head to toe drawing looks of bewilderment especially from Dobson and O’Reilly. Then suddenly it was Davina Rose making her return from injury and pulling off the sacks which revealed Danger and Bates dressed up as wacky arm waving inflatable tube men. Rose hugged both of the tube (wo)men and exchanged high fives with them drawing cheers from the crowd. The referee, however, put a damper on things as he told Rose she had to leave the ringside area due to not having a manager’s license. Rose understood and wished Danger and Bates luck before returning to the back. R-X had demanded this match due to the fact that it was Dobson that injured Rose and then Bates was assaulted by both Crazy Mary and O’Reilly at Volume 38.
This match was off the charts in terms of hard hitting and wild action. R-X held the upper hand for most of the early going including hitting the Sonic Screwdriver on Dobson for a near fall. Dobson recovered battling back with a hard hitting attack and nearly pinned Bates with a chin breaker. The dangerous O’Reilly, a protégé of reigning SHIMMER champion Saraya Knight, also delivered some stiff shots to both members of R-X. Danger made a comeback with Old School Expulsion and then teamed with Bates hitting the Medusa Cascade on O’Reilly. Bates had the pin but it was broken up by an unidentified face painted woman who ran into the ring and hit her. The woman then quickly rolled out of the ring and let out a blood curdling scream as O’Reilly took advantage rolling up Bates for a two count. SHIMMER officials chased after the woman at ringside and some astute observers noted that she looked like former SHIMMER champion Courtney Rush. As the action continued it was Dobson hitting the Kaiju Killer on Bates but then Rose ran down and pulled her out of the ring breaking up the pin. The referee immediately ejected Rose but before she could go she was jumped from behind by a returning Rush. The officials also returned trying to pull them apart while back in the ring it was Dobson catching Bates with a Fisherman’s Suplex to score the pin. It took nearly ten minutes to restore order afterward and when all was said and done SHIMMER promoter Dave Prazak said that he was ordering R-X and Rose to face Dobson, O’Reilly and Rush in a trios match at Volume 40.
7) Heart of SHIMMER title: Sara Del Rey© defeated Kay Lee Ray to retain the title: Sara Del Rey outlasted fifteen other women in a Battle Royal at Volume 39 to become the inaugural Heart of SHIMMER champion. It was a huge win for SDR who was able to win her first singles championship in LOW. Her opponent, Kay Lee Ray, had the opposite experience as she was the first woman eliminated from the Battle Royal and took that really hard. The Glasgow, Scotland, native was upset with her performance but SHIMMER officials, noting her impressive won-loss record going into the match, rewarded her with the first title shot against Del Rey. The two women shook hands at the bell drawing cheers from the crowd. Del Rey was focused and mere moments into the match she caught Ray with the Royal Butterfly for a two count. She followed that up with a strong attack hitting the koppo kick followed up by a running boot for another two count. Ray made a counter off the ropes and struck with a dropkick attack that drove Del Rey out of the ring. Del Rey recovered and hit another Royal Butterfly but again Ray kicked out. Ray was showing great perseverance by taking some stiff offense from the champion. She made a nice comeback late but was cut off by Del Rey who hit a third Royal Butterfly for a big near fall. A stunned Ray staggered back to her feet but SDR quickly caught her in the Cross Arm Breaker resulting in a submission victory. Del Rey retained the title in her version one defense against a spirited challenge from Ray.
8) SHIMMER tag team titles: Sassy Stephie & Nevaeh© defeated Princess Kimberlee & Cherry Bomb to retain the titles: The main event saw the S-N-S Express (Sassy Stephie & Nevaeh) defend the SHIMMER tag team titles against one of the hottest teams in the promotion in the Kimber Bombs (Princess Kimberlee & Cherry Bomb). This was the version one defense for Stephie and Nevaeh who won the belts from the Canadian Ninjas (Portia Perez & Nicole Matthews) in a memorable match at Volume 37. It was almost over quickly as Stephie made a counter on Kimberlee and trapped her in a bridging chinlock that nearly resulted in a submission. Nevaeh tagged in and assaulted Kimberlee both in and out of the ring and scored a two count with a sliding lariat. The Kimber Bombs were able to reverse the momentum when Cherry Bomb nailed Nevaeh with the Cherry Popper. They then got the heat on Nevaeh for an extended stretch with Cherry Bomb nearly putting her away with Anger As Beauty, a bridging double chicken wing submission hold. Kimberlee lost her cool on the outside striking Stephie with a chair shot nearly resulting in a disqualification decision. Stephie returned the favor later on nailing Kimberlee with the chair. The turning point came when Stephie and Kimberlee went down from a double clothesline. Stephie recovered first and nailed Kimberlee with a sliding lariat for a big near fall. Cherry Bomb made the save there but was then knocked out of the ring by Stephie. Nevaeh then executed a bridging German Suplex on Kimberlee and made the tag. Stephie followed up with Kiss My Sass, a falling neckbreaker onto the knee, on Kimberlee to score the pin and retain the titles. The Kimber Bombs failed to grab the gold but put in a solid effort worthy of a potential rematch in the future.

Just getting caught up on the action. Really enjoyed 1055 from the west coast. Texas Hangman v. Sheepherders is a conflict that quickly rise up the card in the Pacific Coast. Great intro for Brent Albright. Tugboat does the stretcher job and the SSA could soon feel the wrath of Charlie Cox. Big things happening. That main event no doubt sent the fans home happy indeed. Great tension between Dr. Death and Terry Gordy in Greensboro. Rikidozan looks unstoppable as International Champion. Speaking of unstoppable, how long will a title elude Andre? Sad to see KC Spinelli and Bale lose in their debut. I have had the opportunity to see “two scoops” Spinelli in action several times on the Ontario Indy scene and she loads of fun. Great presentation of Kraven and her mad power. Great main event for the Shimmer Tag Gold.

Once again, the ladies of Shimmer get things rockin' in the Eagles Club...
Very cool that Klein and Hendrix were victorious in their debut matches... Expecting both to have a real impact in the near future...
Havok and Kraven seem to be playing chicken with the powers-that-be and I'm not sure it's a game they can win... Havok unnecessarily risking her title rematch against Knight and Kraven seeking a further psychological edge that she probably doesn't need... This pair needs to rethink their priorities...
Thoroughly stoked to see 'Rosemary' Rush causing mayhem... And I'm stoked to watch her team up with Crazy Mary and Rhia O'Reilly against Blake and R-X on the next installment...
Awesome stuff!
