The Voodoo that Cruedoo is really starting to kick in to high gear! Was glad to see The Mountie retain the belt, (through the Gridiron fed the big lug grew on me). Outrageousness Galore! You really have a way with words my friend. It looks like we have another fan of The Mountie and that's a good thing.

The Voodoo that Cruedoo, I love it... One pick survived for me and I'd love to see Davey Richards win the PWiT Finals and I love that The Mountie has 5 defenses, good stuff... You had a rough day with your picks but Davey Richards survived and could very well win the PWI Cup. The Mountie has been on a good roll, the Shock Stick and Sherri Martel are potent weapons for him so he could be tough to dethrone.

10) IWA Heavyweight Title: “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson defeated “American Psycho” Lance Hoyt (with Percy Pringle III) to win the title (Submission – Cattle Mutilation)
Match Highlights: The main event saw a changing of the guard as the “American Dragon” defeated the “American Psycho” in Canada to win the IWA Heavyweight title. The former, Bryan Danielson, was giving up a lot of size to the latter, Lance Hoyt, the defending champion but that didn’t seem to matter. Danielson took the fight to Hoyt from the opening bell and had him on the defensive. He struck with the MMA Elbows early looking for the win but Hoyt’s manager, Percy Pringle III, distracted referee Todd Sinclair to save the champion. Hoyt began mounting an offensive after that including laying Danielson out with the big boot. Danielson fought back, though, and picked up a few near falls while also busting Hoyt open after a discus elbow smash to the head.
A Dragon Suplex by Danielson looked to end it but Pringle Dynasty members Brodie Lee and Big Duke ran down and caused a distraction with Sinclair failing to make the count. Lee then jumped Danielson from behind and Sinclair was going to call for a disqualification but IWA Commissioner David Marquez ordered the match to continue. Sinclair ejected Lee and Duke from ringside and IWA officials ran down to take them away despite loud protests from Pringle. Danielson continued his attack on Hoyt and wound up trapping him in Cattle Mutilation. Pringle shouted in for him not to tap out but the bloody Hoyt could find no escape and he let Sinclair know that he was conceding the match. Danielson won it by submission and was crowned the new IWA Heavyweight champion drawing cheers from the sell-out crowd.
The IWA tag team titles were on the line as reDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) challenged Dem Boys, Mark & Jay Briscoe, for the championship. This match was off the charts good with both teams having strong offensive runs. A great sequence saw O’Reilly kick out of pins after taking the Cut-Throat Driver from Mark and the Jay Driller from Jay. reDRagon also executed some nice tandem moves including nailing Jay with the knee strike and Regal Plex combo. O’Reilly then trapped Jay in Armageddon, a cross Armbreaker, but he got to the ropes for a break. The intensity built as the match wore on and the finish seemed to come out of nowhere as Jay nailed Fish with back-to-back superkicks. That set up Mark nailing Fish with a Saito Suplex to score the pin as Jay prevented O’Reilly from making the save. It was a successful version three defense of the titles for the Briscoes but one that they will not soon forget for both the match and the aftermath.
The post-match scene saw reDRagon moving in to shake hands with the Briscoes but the champions backed off not wanting to acknowledge that. Jay even spit at O’Reilly and threw his title belt down daring him to do something about it. Something was done about it but not what anyone was expecting as suddenly Bullet Club member Adam Cole, fresh off competing in the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament, rushed the ring from behind nailing both Jay and Mark with superkicks. The crowd erupted in cheers at the wild scene as Cole and reDRagon took turns assaulting the Briscoes and laying them out before dropping the title belts on top of them. Cole then grabbed the mic and said that he was “in recruiting mode” and asked reDRagon to join him at IWA King of Trios weekend and they accepted.
The “Kentucky Gentleman” Chuck Taylor put the IWA J-Crown title on the line against a very determined challenger in Trent Barreta. The Long Island, NY, native has been on the rise for some time in the IWA and he was hoping to leave WrestleCade 12 weekend with the championship. Barreta matched Taylor move for move with the two going at a breakneck pace that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Each man hit a couple of dives out of the ring during the match, one of which saw Barreta knock Taylor over the ring barrier. Taylor took that opportunity to scream in the face of one young fan who was horrified by the encounter. Barreta picked up a near fall with a counter cradle hold after a missed deathjump attack by the champion. Taylor regrouped and hit the Awful Waffle but somehow Barreta kicked out of the pin. In the end it was Taylor hitting a spectacular Somersault Suicide Dive to the outside that left Barreta in a bad way. Taylor then rolled him back inside and executed a cradle hold on Barreta to score the pin. It was a successful version two defense of the title for Taylor who was fortunate to survive the strong challenge of Barreta. Taylor spoke with PWI Editor Bill Apter in the locker room afterward and said he was bringing surprise teammates with him to compete in the upcoming IWA King of Trios.
Sara Del Ray, the inaugural Heart of SHIMMER champion, finally achieved her dream of winning the SHIMMER title as she defeated Taeler Hendrix to win the belt. Hendrix, accompanied by her manager Mademoiselle Rachelle, was attempting to make her version one title defense after upsetting Madison Eagles to win the belt. She was also accompanied to the ring by her “Blonde, Red & Bad Ass” associates Barbi Hayden and Kelly Klein, the former of whom holds the Heart of SHIMMER title which she won from Del Ray. The referee ordered Hayden and Klein to leave and they at first refused until backing down when IWA officials moved in. Hendrix held her own for a good stretch until Del Ray blasted her with a succession of axe kicks followed by a koppo kick for a near fall. She then went for the kill with the Royal Butterfly but the meddling Rachelle caused a distraction. The manager paid for it, however, as Del Ray clotheslined her off the ring apron. The battle continued and, after a nice counter, it was Del Ray trapping Hendrix in the Cross Arm Breaker for the submission. The crowd erupted in cheers as Del Ray won the belt from Hendrix in a memorable battle.
In other action…
The grudge tag team battle pitting Randy “Macho Man” Savage & Diamond Dallas Page against Kevin Steen & “War King” Eddie Kingston was a pretty one-sided affair. Savage and DDP, backed by a sell-out crowd, neutralized Kingston and concentrated their attack on Steen forcing him to take a good deal of punishment. Steen, a former IWA Heavyweight champion, really took a blow when Savage came off the top rope with the flying axe-handle to the floor. DDP then took out Kingston with the Diamond Cutter while Savage fired Steen back inside and nailed him with a Piledriver for the pin. Just like that it was over and Steen, after realizing he lost, went crazy tearing up the ringside area and even shoving Kinston who took exception to that. As Savage and DDP celebrated their win, Steen cursed out Kingston and stormed off to the back. It was later learned that IWA Commissioner David Marquez has signed Kingston to face Steen as part of IWA King of Trios weekend.
The battle of former Shield members Drew Galloway and Jon Moxley in a Falls Count Anywhere Match resulted in one of the more brutal and physical battles in recent memory. After Tyler Black was forced to leave the IWA, The Shield fell apart with Moxley attacking and injuring Galloway by delivering Moxicity off the ring apron and through a table. This was the return from injury for Galloway and he made up for lost time trading blows with Moxley in a bout that saw both men busted open. It was a near victory for Moxley on the outside when he hit Moxicity in the aisle amongst a crowd of fans but Galloway kicked out of the pin. The battle continued outside for a good stretch and featured some wild moments. Moxley stole the crutches from a fan and blasted Galloway with them. They eventually fought into a rest room area where Galloway hit the Double Arm DDT for a big near fall. Galloway later sent Moxley crashing through a souvenir table with IWA merchandise and WrestleCade DVD’s being scattered everywhere. Back inside the two traded more near falls, including hitting their finishers, as the crowd reached a fever pitch. Galloway finally took it home when a third Double Arm DDT resulted in the pin. The two bloody combatants had to be assisted by paramedics after what was an incredible battle.
A true battle of the high-flyers saw former IWA J-Crown champion the “Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay take on ACH who has been undefeated since joining the IWA. It was a match where both men left it all out in the ring attempting to score the victory. ACH showed great resilience by twice surviving the Essex Destroyer and being able to kick out after taking the springboard cutter and standing shooting star press back-to-back. ACH fought back connecting with Air Jordan and had Ospreay on the ropes forcing him to dig down deep into his back of tricks. The finish saw Ospreay unleash the true definition of “Aerial Assassin” when he came off the top rope with the Corkscrew Shooting Star Press to score the pin. It was a tremendous match which ended in a touch of class as both men shook hands to cheers from the crowd.
The devastating new team of Ringkampf (WALTER & Timothy Thatcher) picked up a very impressive win over the highly touted team of Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano. The early going saw both teams’ feeling the other out attempting to find an opening. That came for Ringkampf when WALTER nailed Ciampa with a big slam on the ring apron. That left Ciampa vulnerable and Thatcher nearly put him out with Saka Otoshi, an inverted facelock takeover into a rear naked choke. Gargano pleaded for a tag but Ciampa was unable to break free from Ringkampf and it ended when WALTER scored the pin with a Vertical Splash.
Veteran independent star Reckless Youth has really been on a tear since joining the IWA and that continued as he took on promising young star Darby Allin. Youth, who had a recent shot at IWA J-Crown champion Chuck Taylor, was in control from the start and kept Allin mostly on the defensive. After a top rope rana resulted in a near fall, Youth followed up quickly with a Scoop Brainbuster and covered Allin for the pin.
Tag teams played a key part in the opener, the $25,000 Jack Tunney, Sr. 20-Man Memorial Battle Royal honoring the legendary Toronto promoter. Teams such as the Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli), Paul London & Brian Kendrick, Pac 3 (Dicky Mayer, Dylan Bostic & Dan Joseph) and “Big Nasty” Eric Watts & Jaka all attempted to work together towards winning the money. The strategy only worked for one team, the Kings of Wrestling, as they outlasted all to become the final two men left in the ring. Their manager, Princess Kimberlee, rushed the ring and declared them co-winners but Hero and Castagnoli had different plans and despite her protests decided to settle it man-to-man drawing cheers from the crowd. Hero wound up eliminating Castagnoli after the Rolling Elbow Smash and claimed the big victory. Hero afterwards said that they would split the money two ways but Kimberlee, sensing something was missing, instead said that she would be going on a spending spree in Toronto. Hero and Castagnoli sighed but let it go as Kimberlee grabbed the mic and said that The Monarchy would again be competing in IWA King of Trios.
In other highlights from the Battle Royal: Davey Vega scored a terrific three eliminations in a row over Pac 3 as he avoided save attempts and ousted them one by one much to the chagrin of their manager Coach Flexo. Backstage, Flexo put his guys through the paces ordering push-ups and pull ups while insisting that Vega was now a “marked man” by Pac 3…Eddie Edwards had a great run in the match living up to his nickname of “Die Hard”. He scored two eliminations and hung on at the end battling both Hero and Castagnoli in a one-on-two situation before being eliminated…Former IWA Heavyweight champion Jay Lethal was ousted by “A Double” Austin Aries and was irate afterward saying that the two “had a plan” put together by SoCal Val and Aries ruined it. Lethal then challenged Aries to a one-on-one match during IWA King of Trios weekend which was accepted…and, local favorite Ron Hutchison had the full support of the crowd until surprisingly being eliminated by Cheeseburger after a Shotei Palm Strike. That drew rare jeers aimed at the usually popular Cheeseburger while the locals cheered Hutchison on his way to the back.

I liked that Chris Hero won the Tunney Battle Royal, plus it was cool that Chuck Taylor earned his second defense. I was hoping Lance Hoyt would've retained, maybe he will get another crack to win the title back...
