Ok, this may be a dumb question, but I am curious for any answers:
Do you roll pin saves and distractor ratings before a pin or DQ, or only when a pin or DQ has taken place? I have always rolled them first, just based on whether I thought it was logical to have the save or distraction or to take a chance on the pin or DQ. But that often backfires--for example, the distractor roll is too high, so then I roll the DQ and the wrestler is DQ'd. Or the pin save fails, but then the pin is unsuccessful anyway. So I have been debating whether it makes more sense to do it the other way around--wait until the pin save or distraction is definitely needed before using them. How does anyone else do this?

I do it prior to the pins, we've discussed this topic before and that's the "official" rule. I've tried it both ways and I've found I'll chance it, until a pin is at least 6, then that's when I start using Pin Saves. I never worry about DQ's, they'll happen sometimes, but since I do the double roll for a DQ it is less likely then a pin.

I know that the PIN SAVE chart is rolled prior to the PIN officially BUT I always find it difficult to figure out when to use it...so, over the years my fed has changed over to after the pinfall. Interesting note on distractions that my two younger players in the household came up with...whenever a distraction by a valet or manager is actually rolled successfully, they roll on the manager interference chart...I like that idea and have actually started using it in my feds... So, it is up to you Mr. Morse..jmello gave his take on it and I gave mine (not meaning to step on anyone's toes...)...so, remember- IT'S YOUR FED PROMOTER!!

I found the same problem as you David, so I roll a pin save after I see if it's needed or not.

I do double rolls for DQ's as well, so they rarely pop up. I do Pin Saves and Distractions usually after simply out of personal preference.

Thanks for the responses. I do double rolls for DQ's as well, so they rarely pop up. I do Pin Saves and Distractions usually after simply out of personal preference. Yeah, I double roll DQs and countouts too. But they still happen, which they should. It's just deciding how to use the pin saves and distractions that I'm debating with myself. Thanks. I like the chart. I may decide to use it after tweaking a bit (I tweak everything. I've altered and re-preinted most of the game charts at this point). So, it is up to you Mr. Morse..jmello gave his take on it and I gave mine (not meaning to step on anyone's toes...)...so, remember- IT'S YOUR FED PROMOTER!! Actually, it's Dr. Morse. PhD in English. But you can call me David.

I know its a preference, but I just can't justify ever doing the double dice roll for DQs or any champions advantage. I just feel its a discredit to what the dice says, which is what the game is all about. Yeah, sometimes it sucks there are alot of DQs or title switches, but that's the purity of the dice...no favorites.
About the only thing I will do, pin wise, is use Stu Lowery's Pin Chart, which is on Cory's yahoo site on occassion, but still feel it takes away a bit form the purity of the dice.
Maybe an interesting chart to check out.
And I do like Jmello does...no pin saves, etc until the Pin Rating hits 6

I do it before the pin/DQ. I consider it cheating the game if you do it after, like peeking at how a book ends before you're done reading it.
However, for heels I will try when the PIN rating reaches 5 and for faces 6. It just seems like the heels will always try to save themselves first before the faces would.
I like that chart!

Roll before. Anything else is just cheating, IMO.
I roll the distraction when the pin roll would be 5 and the interference when the roll would be 7 in singles matches. In tag matches I still roll at 5 for distraction but the next two rolls are for pin saves and the next roll is for the interference.
I got a question that I want to know what people do. When you throw random pairings together do you still use the pin saves and (tag) on the cards. I don't. Unless the team is an established team or have won tag titles I don't give them an advantage they have not yet earned.
