Sudden Death 2094-5 Overview: By Chad Olson
What follows is an overview of the two part Sudden Death storyline. This covers game editions 2094 and 2095. Author Chad Olson is perhaps best known for his stellar work on the Legends of Wrestling creative team. His insightful analysis provides background information that heretofore did not exist on this board. For that we all owe Chad our gratitude. --------------------------------------------------------------------

Sudden Death 2094-2095
The original Sudden Death series saw a series of firsts in Champions of the Galaxy. For the first time, a winner take all tourney featuring the banishment of a losing team member occurred. For the first time, a team that could challenge the power of the Gladiators of Aethra emerged. For the first time, two women took their feud to the squared circle of the GWF. And for the first time behind the scenes, an artist stepped down to let a new artist share his creative vision for the COTG characters.
The main theme behind Sudden Death consisted of team feuds where the losing team had to banish one member. This was the first interactive poll in COTG history, where promoters would send their votes to Tom based on their fed’s results. Tom allowed promoters to help influence the direction of the GWF’s future.
This two-part storyline saw the emergence of some of the top tag teams in GWF history. The New Order, Mace and Dreggs, arrived on the scene in 2094 to feud with the Gladiators. Vigilante and Soldier of Fortune dropped their formers personas of Galactic Punisher and Tongsoon to form the Mercenaries. The Collector produced the Demons of Hydra, who were originally thought to be Ghengis Khan and Mitsuko. All three teams were top contenders throughout their time in the federation.
On the singles side, Raven joined the New Order and the rest of W.A.R. in 2095 and proved to be a strong force. Future stars Thunder, Pegasus, and Jack of Diamonds started off as rookies in 2095. In the case of Thunder, he served as the Gladiators’ bodyguard, making only occasional appearances inside the ring.
Ms. Liberty, formerly Sweet Thing, joined up with US Patriot in 2094. This paved the way for Cassandra to become Vanity’s new valet in 2095. Equipped with wrestling stats, women’s wrestling in the GWF was now a possibility. Other new game dynamics included the “switch” routine of the Demons of Hydra, which allowed the masked competitors to take advantage of a confused referee. The New Order’s HOLOCAUST finisher was the first roll finisher that couldn’t “miss”.
Finally, the Sudden Death series was the first COTG set not drawn by original game artist Chuck Carter. Larry Snelly stepped up with a different and complex style that was popular among fans at the time. Snelly’s artwork showed great detail and was a dramatic switch from Carter’s artwork which often conveyed great facial expressions.
Sudden Death was a popular series, for the change in artwork and the fan involvement aspect. Many new singles and tag teams emerged that left their mark on GWF history. The banishments saw wrestlers leave the GWF for the first time since the breaking of the Galaxian Code. And this set the stage for the “biggest reunion of all time” in the Revolution series.

Civil War 2099-2100: Credit Joe Scully
What follows is a very detailed overview of one of my favorite CotG story arcs...Civil War 2099 & 2100. The author is Joe Scully who is best known on the board as Joe. I have known Joe through this board for a period of several years...and he has always been among the most intelligent and thought provoking members of the community. His insightful review sets as high of a standard as can be imagined for these overviews...and as readers we are all the beneficiaries. Thank you Joe. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Civil War 2099
Rookies: Three
Metalhead: Estranged twin brother of Dreggs… Entered GWF as a member of Doomsayer’s Entropy team… Immediately began feuding with his brother in a tag team feud pitting him and Grunge (Generation X) against the New Order (Dreggs and Mace)…Achieved minor success with Grunge, but Generation X was outclassed by the more experienced, and talented, New Order…In 2101, joined Johnny Rocket’s team, eventually changing name to Sleeze… As a member of the Rocketmen, eventually reunited with Dreggs to form Twin Blood… Had an astounding run with his brother and is regarded as one of the best tag team wrestlers ever.
Pharaoh Khetty: Appeared in the GWF as a member of Occult Overlord’s Brotherhood…Claimed to have been murdered in a previous life by Dragonmaster…Complete whack-job, which would be a recurring theme throughout his career… Began his GWF run in a tag team with singles star Bishop Hell known as the Hoods of Death…The Bishop wanted little to do with the pairing and Khetty was shuffled off to join Ram the following year in an even worse pairing called Crypt of Terror…His feud, one which he never got the better of, continued with Dragonmaster…Wound up teaming with Mesmer, which would lead to his falling ill and sinking into a coma… Came out of his coma in 2104, became known as Talisman and sought revenge against Mesmer for what had happened, blaming Mesmer and the Overlord for convincing him he was an ancient Pharaoh…Left the GWF after several more nondescript years…Entered the CPC in 2112 after joining a commune/cult, the True Way…He now manages a team of the same name in the CPC.
Pollux: Debuted in the GWF as an undercard bum to replace Ursa Major, who was showing signs of improvement…Toiled in obscurity and toted numerous beatings over the course of the next decade, until leaping into the Transevolver and becoming the two-headed sensation, Nth Degree…Maybe sensation is a bit of a stretch, as Pollux had only slightly more success as Nth Degree…Achieved greatest level of fame by being on the short end of a feud of with the Gladiators in 2114 as a member of Heavy Artillery with Monad.
Notable Updates:
Thunder: Fresh off his first cleansing, the former bodyguard stood poised to break out into superstardom…Began his actual wrestling career as primarily a tag team star, first with Killing Machine and later, Overkill…Had a much more high-flying, athletic style than his Aethran predecessors…Helped lead the Gladiator Vanguard team, which also consisted of Vengeance, Mayhem and Overkill to victory in the Gladiator Civil War of 2099 and 2100… Won multiple Tag Team titles with Overkill before moving onto singles superstardom in 2110…Retired from action in late 2118…Hall of Fame lock when he becomes eligible, as his levels of success in both the tag team and singles arena are nearly unparalleled.
Enigma: Another former bodyguard who began coming into his own in 2099… Debuted in the GWF in 2096 as Darkos’ head of security… By 2099, was one of the most exciting and gifted performers in the GWF… Feuded with Stalker and the Savage Kingdom in 2099, and proved superior to the Neptunians more often than not…Terak upgraded his team by signing Vyper in 2100, which led to a very exciting feud between the masked marvel and the snake-handler… Eventually outgrew the Masked Assassins and joined the Star Warrior-managed Champions of the Galaxy in 2109… By this point, Enigma was in the upper-echelon of the GWF…Lasted only one year with the Champions and joined Johnny Rocket… Reunited with Star Warrior in 2112, staying for two years before going solo… Entered the CPC in 2115, and showed that he was amazingly still in his prime…Probably most responsible for a galaxy-wide rise in popularity of cruiserweight wrestling… Along with Prodigy, Euritar and Eclipse would be on the Mount Rushmore of cruiserweight wrestlers in GWF history.
Alpha Force: In 2099, the former Heavyweight champion fell to the GWF’s second-tier, thanks in large part to the loss of the Alpha Stone… Spent the year embroiled in the Champions of the Galaxy-Citadel of the Elite feud… Took a backseat to Colossus and Heracles and focused primarily on battling the Matador of M83, another wrestler who, as ridiculous as it sounds, had been pushed out of the foreground by members of his own team… Finished at 180-degree turn, closing out his GWF career teaming with Chaos… A true legend who is sometimes overlooked in discussions of all-time greats, thanks in large part to his involvement in one of the most muddled, confusing sagas in GWF history.
Monad: Formerly the Cosmic Forces, is mainly notable because he is the only tag team to be merged into one wrestler, thanks to the Transevolver… The four shoulders that remained from the experiment often were a hindrance and made him easy to pin once he was down... Never able to live up to his early years as Matter and Antimatter, who comprised one of the great teams of the early 2090s.
Draconian Sheik: Part-time wrestler who was signed by Reynard B. Guile in 2099… The first of many wrestlers to come hailing from the cloning capital of the Galaxy, Draco… Clone of 20th Century legend, the Sheik… True innovator of violence who became in one bloody feud after another with hardcore legends such as Wolf, Mayhem and Vyper.
Ursa Major: One-time curtain-jerker who took his first steps toward respectability in 2099… Began teaming with Lord Nexus, who was in the twilight of his career, as TitanWrestling… Would go onto become a very accomplished tag team wrestler, as well as solid singles star in the cruiserweight division.
Major Events of 2099
Gladiator Civil War
The Aethran Civil War was the headline story in 2099, as well as 2100. Following the Sudden Death loss to W.A.R. in 2095 and subsequent disappointing years, Thakur, the Aethran Minister of War, decided it was time for a housecleaning. He allowed Vengeance, the newest Gladiator, to lead a team of Aethran upstarts (for the most part, as Mayhem had been around since 2091) against the Gladiator legends.
The old guard consisted of Spike, Brute and Massacre, so the galaxy was shocked when original GWF gladiator, Wolf, was added to the fray. The feud introduced Overkill and, for the most part, Thunder to the GWF’s upper level and helped elevate Vengeance, as well. The Civil War would plant the seeds for one of the most tragic events in GWF history.
Alpha Force loses the power of the stone
In a strange turn, Alpha Force completely lost the power of the Alpha stone in 2099. This occurrence saw him fall from the category of GWF Big Two (along with Chaos) nearly to the mid-card ranks. At this point, the only thing keeping him near the top of the card was his affiliation with Omega’s Champions of the Galaxy.
Morpheus pushes for the top villain spot
Seeing the distraction of the Civil War and the disarray the Gladiator team was in, Morpheus jumped at the chance to take control of the GWF’s Villain “team,” if they could be labeled as such.
Morpheus already managed Chaos, Janus and the Matador, so he saw 2099 as the prime opportunity to get the rest of the federation’s heels in line and take charge. Things didn’t exactly work out for Morpheus, as he was ousted from the GWF following the MegaTournament loss of 2102.
Morpheus and the rest of the Citadel’s treatment of the Matador during this time helped to usher in the CPC, as it is quite possible that Magnus Colby would not have finished second in the MegaTournament had they shown the uber-talented Matador more respect.
Krakan rejoins villain team, feuds with FDF
After several years leading his violent independent team, the Hitmen for Hire, Krakan became an unabashed heel again, leading his charges into battle against a strange line-up of the FDF, which featured Dreadnaught being managed by Commander Sam.
Krakan’s tag team, the Mercenaries, continued their high level of performance by getting the better of the Retribution (Dreadnaught and Justice) more often than not. The team battle also featured an interesting singles feud between the athletic, top-flight technician U.S. Patriot and the club-swinging, hardcore mauler, Splatter.
The Hitmen would go on to join the CPC in the upcoming MegaTournament, which would help banish Morpheus from the GWF, while this FDF lineup would prove to be one of its more forgettable incarnations.

Civil War 2100
Credit Joe Scully
Rookies: 5
Overkill: The first of five potential Hall of Fame rookies among the class of 2100… Began his career as tag team partner to Thunder, replacing Killing Machine in the Gladiator Civil War… Actually received a Cleansing on Aethra before coming to the GWF…Rarely spoke, but left a trail of bodies in his wake… Very crucial to the outcome of the Civil War, as other than the New Order, he and Thunder were the first team to really match up well with Brute and Massacre... Won multiple GWF tag team titles with Thunder as his partner... Showed his unselfishness in 2110, as he began teaming with Malice to allow Thunder to pursue a singles career… As with Thunder, won several Tag Team titles with Malice… Considered by some promoters to be the greatest tag team wrestler in GWF history…Retired from action in 2118.
Max Shield: Another potential, HOF inductee, Shield brought his unusual powers to the GWF… Hailing from Omicron, possessed the ability to create a force-field around his body… The special gift came from an incident on his home planet that gave powers to many of its residents… Immediately began feuding with Mandrill, the Prime Colonizer, upon entering the GWF, a feud which will go down in the Thantos-Star Warrior category of all-time classics… Would introduce his Genesis team over the next two years, bringing forth such great stars as Wraith and Genocide… Would eventually feud with both men as they would turn on him for one reason or another… Similar to Lord Nexus in being a truly heroic, uncompromising wrestler and leader.
Mandrill: The polar opposite of Max Shield… Shield’s arch-rival for nearly two full decades…One of the truly evil wrestlers to ever compete inside a GWF ring… Responsible for countless tragedies prior to entering the GWF when he ordered random planetary attacks in the name of colonization…Brought his own army to the GWF, including Nefarus, Vendetta and Painmaster, in an attempt to destroy Shield and take over the GWF… Tried immediately to become the most powerful force in the GWF, eventually even stooping to the ridiculous means of stealing Chaos’ Alpha Stone in 2106… The stone was later revealed to be powerless, but he did manage to make an enemy out of Chaos and indirectly lead to the teaming of Chaos and Alpha Force…Captured the Heavyweight title while on Centra… Feuded with virtually every big name in the GWF between his debut and his retirement in 2118… Took part in a historic, cross-promotional feud with Dr. Barnabas’ Species team from the CPC… Left the GWF at the end of 2118, following a decline in skills and the emergence of Epoch.
Rising Sun: Exciting martial artist who made his debut with the Titans in 2100… Born in Japan, was recruited to the Titans by fellow MMA enthusiast, Dragonmaster… Spent the first few years of his career as part of the successful duo TitanFury with DM… After a few years as a tag specialist, began to explore more singles action…Went on to have legendary cruiserweight battles with Prodigy and Enigma…Became extremely popular, especially on Centra where his popularity rivaled that of homegrown superstar Corporal Aegis… Became disenchanted with Lord Nexus as a manager and father-figure and joined Krakan’s Hitmen for Hire in 2114… Changed name to Eclipse and became slightly harder-edged… This was a bad fit, and he left Krakan within a year to join another master-manipulator, Thantos…Eventually returned to the Titans, retiring as a member in late 2118…Must be credited, along with Prodigy and Enigma, as bringing the fast-paced style of cruiserweight action to the forefront of the GWF in the early 2100s.
Thrash: First and, to this point, only female Aethran to wrestle in the GWF… Made her debut as the official bodyguard of the Gladiator Vanguard team… Trained with Overkill on Aethra… Brought legitimate attention to women’s wrestling through here battles with Amazonia… The level to which they took women’s wrestling can be seen as indirectly responsible for the influx of talented women wrestlers such as Hunger, Sniper and She Devil… Dominated the women’s ranks, winning multiple titles and running roughshod over most of the competition…Stayed on with the Gladiators until late 2120, when she finally stepped away from the ring… Between her high-level feud with Amazonia and her intrusion into the Gladiator Boys Club, it is doubtful another female competitor will have the impact on wrestling that Thrash did.
Notable Updates
Vyper: Snapped on Darkos during the Assassins’ 2100 press conference because he was tired of hearing about how great Enigma was… For some strange reason, Vyper decided to join the band of bums known as the Savage Kingdom… Threw down his mask during that press conference, never to don it again… Formed a popular team with Wildcat called Hunter’s Moon…His run with the Savage Kingdom is probably the most successful period of Terak’s career…Eventually left the Kingdom and jumped to the CPC in 2107… Went on to great individual success, winning titles and becoming embroiled in bloody feuds with Dark Justice, Anarchy and former partner, the Draconian Sheik.
Cannibal: The former Renegade scaled back his in-ring work in 2100 to focus on managing his team of lunatics, Murderer’s Row… The team featured the newly updated Cycle Hog, previously known as Psycho and Man-Mountain.
Major Events of 2100
Civil War wages on as Overkill replaces Killing Machine
As stated earlier, Overkill joined the Vanguard team, replacing Killing Machine as Thunder’s partner.
This was the turning point in the feud, as a makeshift team like Deadly Challenge was really no match for the legendary duo, Brute and Massacre. It also marked the first time that Brute actually was in the ring, night after night, with a more powerful foe.
In a related story, Killing Machine revealed himself to be the Bounty Hunter when he stormed the Murderer’s Row media conference to rescue former manager Reynard B. Guile.
It’s all fun and games until somebody gets an eye put out
Bishop Hell put Pulsar Prime out of action with a shot of Hellfire to the Titan’s eye late in 2099.
Although the Bishop had been using his illegal finisher for years, this was the first critical injury suffered by an opponent from the attack.
Pulsar would return a year later sporting an eye-patch and a new, illegal finisher to avenge the loss of his eyesight. In 2100, however, Hell spent the year feuding with the athletically superior Quasar.
Commissioner Carter introduces new match, announces retirement
Zachary Carter, the GWF’s first official commissioner, announced he would be stepping down at the end of 2100.
Carter cited a desire to “return to civilian life and spend time with my family,” as his primary reasons for leaving. He also said the GWF was in need of new leadership and fresh ideas. Before his retirement, Carter did introduce the Milky Way Falls Count Anywhere match to the GWF. It seemed as if this violent, anything goes match was tailor-made for the Gladiator Civil War, especially the brawls between Wolf and Mayhem.
Pegasus leaves Raw Power, GWF
In a shocking, albeit not galaxy-shaking at the time, occurrence, Pegasus the Powerful announced he was leaving the GWF.Pegasus was angered by his team’s decision to side with Morpheus and left the federation. He would return in 2101, a new man and battle Chaos over the GWF Heavyweight title. A once reviled heel, Pegasus would go on to become one of the most popular and successful wrestlers in GWF history.

MEGATOURNAMENT 2101
The ultimate three-way dance hit the GWF in 2101, with three competing managers fighting for their GWF careers. With Omega guiding the Hero Team, Morpheus the Villain Team, and a returning Magnus Colby (along with wife Sonora Pelf) heading the independent Colby Pelf Corporation, intensity in the GWF rode high. With the losing manager to be forever banished from the GWF, the stakes were high.
Each team selected 6 single’s stars, 3 tag teams and 1 woman to represent them in the squared circle. Points were earned for defeating MegaTournament opponents and winning and defending GWF title belts.
The official MegaTournament rosters in 2101:
Omega’s Hero Team: Pegasus, Wolf, Colossus, Alpha Force, Raven, Max Shield, GameMasters, New Order, Sam’s Squadron, Amazonia.
Morpheus’ Villain Team: Chaos, Janus, Heracles, Bishop Hell, Monad, Mandrill, Superiority Complex, Generation X, Pillars of Power, Cassandra.
Colby-Pelf Corporation: Matador of M83, Vengeance, Mayhem, Pulsar, Holocaust, Splatter, Gladiators, Mercenaries, Henchmen, Thrash.
Rookie class:
Wraith – Entered the GWF along with partner Vertigo (Genesis Prime) to counteract Mandrill and the Colonizers...developed the ability to turn invisible as a result of the Omnicron Event…Commissioner Grogan limited Wraith to three invisibility attempts per match…Finisher – SUDDEN DEATH (bulldog from top turnbuckle)
Vertigo – Entered the GWF with Wraith (Genesis Prime) to assist in the fight against the Colonizers of Scorpi…served as the informal leader of Team Genesis…despite entering the GWF as an older rookie, he possessed amazing speed due to the Omnicron Event…a tag specialist…Finisher – MOTION SICKNESS (Vertigo grabs opponent’s legs and swings him around rapidly)
Painmaster – Appointed by Mandrill as Chief of Police of Scorpi…teams with Tocsin as the Watchmen of Scorpi…revels in torturing opponents…Finisher – THE TORTURE RACK (Painmaster stands on opponent’s back and bends back their arms)
Tocsin – Appointed by Mandrill as Scorpi’s Surgeon General…smells of toxic waste…Teams with Painmaster as the Watchmen of Scorpi…Featured the first non-finisher tag team only offensive move (Double Team Mallet)…Finisher – HAZARDOUS WASTE (Tocsin put his disgusting hands over his opponent’s face)
Other cards in the 2101 set:
Pegasus – after only wrestling part-time in 2100, the strongman joined Omega’s Champions of the Galaxy in 2101 and jumped right into a feud with Chaos.
Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf – Magnus Colby made a landmark return to the GWF in 2101, bringing along his bride Sonora Pelf and forming the Colby Pelf Corporation (CPC)
Vengeance – had a Cleansing in 2101
Johnny Rocket – after being associated with KronoScam, Rocket resigned his broadcasting duties and became a trash-talking manager.
Pulsar – missed 2100 due to injuries inflicted by Bishop Hell. Returned with a more vicious style, unveiling an illegal finisher of his own (ACID RAIN.) Left the Titans so as not to degrade their fine tradition with his edgy new tactics.
Mad Jester – Defender of the Realm reverted to his Mad Jester persona in 2101.
New special match:
Castor Chain Match – a brutal contest fought with competitors connected by a 20-foot steel chain
Note: The original GWF Ringside Companion is dated 2101

Megatournament 2101-2: By Matt 'Dickendesher
MEGATOURNAMENT 2102
The three-way battle saga continued in 2102, with added drama and tension, as the three sides attempted to bolster their ranks in an effort to avoid banishment. Omega’s Hero Team injected TitanFury into their tag team roster in replacement of Sam’s Squadrom. The CPC signed a deranged Mad Jester to take the spot formerly occupied by Holocaust. Morpheus shook up the Villain Team by swapping Monad for Enigma, the Watchmen for the Pillars of Power, and the rookie Anaxis for Cassandra.
Rookie class:
Buck Steele/Genocide – the debut of Buck/Genocide at the 2102 press conferences certainly proved memorable, as Buck transformed to Genocide and wiped out the Colonizers…the ability to transform naturally resulted in an intriguing new game mechanic…Finisher as
Buck – ROPE-A-DOPE FLURRY (flurry of punches)…Finisher as Genocide – CORPUS GENOCIDE (cannonball off the top rope).
Nefarus – the ultimate traitor, Nefarus defected from the Genesis side to join Mandrill and the Colonizers…developed extraordinary leg power from the Omnicron Event…Finisher – SCISSORDRIVER (scissors piledriver)
Archon – the shoot-fighter made his GWF debut in 2101, teaming with Crossfire as Centaurus Cluster and joining the CPC…refuses to either leave or throw opponents out of the ring…main feud with Blazing Skull…Finishers – ELBOW HYBEREXTENSION (just as it sounds), CROSS KNEE RACK (twists opponent’s knee), ARCHON SLEEPER CLAMP (sleeper).
Crossfire – Partner to Archon in Centaurus Cluster…Young and inexperienced, Crossfire possesses a lot of courage in the ring…Finishers – BOW AND ARROW (sunset flip), CROSSFIRE (falling leg drop from the top turnbuckle, while Archon has the opponent locked in the CROSS KNEE RACK).
SuperNova – sister to Star Warrior and Alpha Force…trained in secret prior to making her GWF debut…Finisher – SPEED OF LIGHT (sunset flip/power bomb).
Anaxis – brought to the GWF by Heracles, for whom she serves as a valet while also wrestling in the women’s division…from ancient Greece…Finisher – CALL OF THE SIREN (clotheslines opponent on top rope).
Other cards in the 2102 set:
Mace – An angrier version of Mace, who showed off his new finishers, MACE’S LITTLE HELPER (singles) and DECIMATION (tag, with Dreggs).
Wildcat – A maturing Wildcat emerged in 2102 and began tagging with Vyper as Hunter’s Moon.
Darkos – Declared a “Second Reign of Assassin Greatness.” Pretty much gave up wrestling to concentrate on managerial duties.
Terak – Introduced Mollock the GWF as a bodyguard. Like Darkos, Terak has also mostly retired from wrestling to focus on life as a manager.
New special match:
Three-Way Battlezone – essentially a three-way dance involving each of the MegaTournament teams, where only two competitors are in the ring at the same time.

The years 2103 and 2104 marked the GWF’s second Sudden Death competition. Nine sets of teams went head-to-head for two years. The most high-profile contest pitted Omega’s Champions of the Galaxy against Sam’s Stormtroopers, a team featuring Chaos and managed by Commander Sam, who had turned against the GWF hero team to battle Omega.

2103 Rookie Class:
Blazing Skull—Originally released as a part of the GWF Birthday Bash Edition, the malevolent Blazing Skull becomes an official member of the GWF in 2103. Blazing Skull’s head could sometimes burst into flame during a match, causing severe and sometimes life-threatening damage to his opponents. This innate ability of Blazing Skull caused some horrifying incidents while the Brymstone native competed part-time in the GWF in previous years, the worst of which led to the death of Crossfire in 2102. As a result, Blazing Skull is only allowed to wrestle in the GWF if he wears a skullcap that will dampen any fiery explosion from his head. However, the skullcap is not foolproof, and while his bursts of fire are no longer fatal, they could still cause serious injury. In 2103 Blazing Skull forms a tag team with Bishop Hell called “the Lords of Fire.” His finisher, BURNING TOUCH, is a painful claw hold.
Terminus—Brought to the GWF by Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf, Terminus is a dominant wrestler and a champion in the Aran Wrestling Federation in the star system Ara. For his finisher, the HAMMERLOCK SLAM, Terminus catches his opponent in a hammerlock, lifts him into the air, and slams him to the mat, still holding onto the hammerlock while he pins the opponent’s shoulders.
Manslaughter—Manslaughter is brought to the GWF by Darkos. A very large young masked man hailing from parts unknown, this powerhouse is heralded by his manager as ushering in the “Second Reign of Assassin Greatness.” His finisher, SNAP CRACK POP, is a move for which Manslaughter picks up his opponent and rams him across his knee for a backbreaker, but then hangs onto the backbreaker and pushes the opponent’s body down on either side of his knee for a powerful submission finisher.
Brainstrom—Claiming to be a highly ranking university professor from the Reticulum system, Brainstorm is a sneaky and obnoxious wrestler who joins the RocketMen in 2103. His finisher, HITTING THE BOOKS, is typical of his tactics: Brainstorm drapes his opponent across the bottom rope and then distracts the referee while his “student assistant,” who always accompanies Brainstorm to ringside, smashes the opponent with a loaded textbook.
Zouave the Conqueror—Like Blazing Skull, Zouave was originally released as a part of the GWF Birthday Bash set but becomes an official GWF competitor in 2103. He joins the Masked Assassin team. Large, awkward, and slow-moving, Zouave has two finishers. The first is the DEMOLISHER, which is essentially a running power slam. The second is the CONQUEROR VICTORY RUN, for which Zouave ties his opponent’s arms in the ropes and then propels himself off the opposite ropes to clothesline his helpless opponent. However, intended victims often duck the clothesline or put up a boot to kick Zouave to the mat, so the finisher is minimally effective.
Other New Cards for 2103:
Jack of Diamonds—Jack gets a significant upgrade in 2103, becoming more agile and adding a second finisher in addition to the DIAMOND CUT. The BLACK DIAMOND is an elbow to the opponent’s head off the top turnbuckle.
Sleeze—The wrestler formerly known as Metalhead changes his name to Sleeze and the name of his successful tag team with Grunge from Generation X to X-Termination. He and Grunge have also added a new tag team finisher, the HEADBANGER’S BALL, for which Sleeze puts the opponent on his shoulders and falls forward, clotheslining the opponent in the top rope, while Grunge follows up with a top rope elbow. Sleeze also still uses his old METALHEAD MAULER singles finisher.
Maleph—Maleph is the highest ranking “anti-official” in the chaotic Brymstone society. He comes to the GWF as Blazing Skull’s manager. His main purpose, both at home and in the GWF, is to incite disorder. He does not wrestle.
Commando Sam—Commander Sam has turned against the hero team, renamed himself Commando Sam, and joined forces with Chaos. This extreme change of attitude seems to be somehow connected to Sam’s relationship with Mesmer, but no one has yet explained this connection. Sam has a new look and a more aggressive attitude. He does not wrestle.
Thantos—The legendary Thantos has retired from wrestling and will now manage the tag team No Fear (Pulsar and Archon) in their feud with Bishop Hell and Blazing Skull.
Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2103:
Crossfire killed in the ring by Blazing Skull: The rookie from Centaurus, Crossfire, died in the ring during a match on Brymstone after a fiery explosion from the head of his opponent, Blazing Skull. Commissioner Grogan immediately banned Blazing Skull from the GWF, but Archon, crossfire’s tag team partner, petitioned to have Skull reinstated so that he could get revenge.
Mandrill defeats Ram in slave match and forces Ram to become bodyguard for the Colonizers. (Note: This new role is reflected on Ram’s special edition card, which is not included with the Sudden Death 2103 set.)
Morpheus loses the Megatournament in 2101 and 2102 and is banned from the GWF.
Mayhem leaves the Gladiator team after an argument with Vengeance and becomes an independent wrestler.
The Colby/Pelf Corporation chooses not to participate in Sudden Death but will continue to compete in the GWF.
Justice turns away from the GWF heroes and joins Sam’s Stormtroopers. (Note: This change is reflected on the “Dark Justice” special edition card, which is not included with the Sudden Death 2103 set.) ________________________________________________________
Sudden Death 2104
Credit: David Morse
The GWF’s second Sudden Death competition continued in 2104. Eight of the original nine sets of teams extended their head-to-head battles for another year. The contest between Flamboyance and the Pillars of Power was cancelled when the Pillars broke up their team. The members of Flamboyance, Killer Queen and Vanity, entered into a one-year sudden death feud with each other, while Dynamo was pitted against Scourge in a final sudden death battle. In nine of the ten contests, the losers would be forced to banish a team member until 2107, while either Bishop Hell or Pulsar would be forced to retire permanently as a consequence of the No Fear/Lords of Fire feud.
Sudden Death 2104 Opponents:
Champions of the Galaxy vs. Sam’s Stormtroopers Genesis and Wolf vs. The Colonizers of Scorpi Krakan’s Hitmen vs. The Gladiators of Aethra No Fear vs. The Lords of Fire W. A. R. vs. The RocketMen Fighting Titans vs. Masked Assassins Savage Kingdom vs. Murderer’s Row Jack of Diamonds vs. The Mad Jester Vanity vs. Killer Queen Dynamo vs. Scourge
2104 Rookie Class:
Malice—The newest member of the Gladiators of Aethra, Malice was trained by Spike and is very agile for a man seemingly as powerful as Spike or Brute. He fits in immediately as a singles star with his violent and talented teammates. His finisher, FIELDS OF MALICE, is a moonsault from the top turnbuckle. Malice sometimes performs this maneuver on a table outside the ring to cause additional damage to his opponent.
Scion Nexus—A native of Canada, Scion Nexus is the adopted son of Lord Nexus, and he joins the Fighting Titans in 2104. He will form a fast-moving, agile tag team called TitanAttack with Ursa Major. His singles finisher, THE RISE AND FALL, is a move for which Nexus sits his opponent on the top turnbuckle and then takes the victim to the mat with a head scissors . He and Ursa Major also have a tag finisher, TWIN HAZARDS, for which Ursa follows Nexus’ finisher with a cannonball from another turnbuckle.
The Terrorists—These two masked men accompany the Draconian Sheik to his matches, carrying with them a whip and a billy club. They do not speak and do not wrestle, but they are unusually talented at interfering in matches and distracting referees. Although they have made no statement, their initial targets for the Sheik seem to be the Masked Assassins, the Hitmen, and Murderer’s Row.
Other New Cards for 2104:
Talisman—This troubled and independent young wrestler was formerly known as Pharaoh Khety. He claims now that the entire Khety image and his feud with Dragonmaster were created through some sort of mind-control exercised on him by Mesmer. Mesmer denies the allegations. Talisman’s finisher, The AMULET DROP, is the same as his previous CURSE OF KHETY finisher except that he delivers the elbow drop by leaping off the top turnbuckle.
The Ninja Assassins—Formerly known as the Demons of Hyrda, Daemon and Hydrax have returned to the Masked Assassins with new ring attire, new martial arts moves, and seemingly improved abilities. They still attempt their infamous switch routine. Each has a singles finisher: Daemon’s IRON HAND is a powerful karate chop, while Hydrax’s DEATH POINT STRIKE is a Tai Chai move in which Hydrax attacks the most vulnerable part of the victim’s body, usually a chop just below the throat. Their tag finisher, DOUBLE EDGE SWORD, is a combination of the two singles finishers.
The Stormtroopers—Commander Sam has convinced Powerhouse to leave the Pillars of Power and join Gemini, who is now called Hammer, in a new tag team called the Stormtroopers. The two veteran tag team wrestlers expect to help Sam win his Sudden Death battle against Omega. Hammer’s HAMMER’S LOCK finisher is a spinning scorpion deathlock, while Powerhouse uses the EARTHQUAKE, for which he lifts his opponent over his head and drops him and then follows with an elbow to the back of the head. Their tag finisher, the STORMTROOPER BLITZ, is a move for which Hammer grabs a leglock and Powerhouse delivers a diving leg drop from the top turnbuckle.
Thunder—Thunder has returned from a cleansing and is now more dangerous than ever. He is faster than most Aethran wrestlers and is now coming into his prime. He still wrestles mostly as a tag team partner for Overkill, but he has proven himself to be a very talented singles wrestler as well. His new finisher, THE TEMPEST, is an example of his great agility: Thunder climbs to the top turnbuckle and leaps off, doing a complete flip in midair before landing a leg drop on his victim.
Massif—GWF special referee Massif has been making some strange calls lately. The usually reliable and honest giant has begun to favor Sam’s Stromtroopers in matches against the Champions of the Galaxy, using tactics like slow counts or disqualifying Omega’s team more easily. No explanation has yet been given for the big referee’s change in behavior.
Special Edition Cards (not included with this set):
Doomsayer—a new drawing of Doomsayer with his new exo-skeleton body armor. Doomsayer does not wrestle.
Monad—A new look and some new moves for the four-armed wrestler.
Mayhem—New artwork for Mayhem.
Draconian Sheik—A new drawing for the Sheik.
New Match: Four Weapons of Destruction:
Four potent weapons—a chain, a stun rod, an electric shock turnbuckle, and a barbed wire-lined turnbuckle—are made available to the competitors in this match, who battle until one of them cannot continue. It is one of the most brutal matches ever introduced into the GWF.
Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2104:
Commander Sam invites Dreadnaught to join the Stormtroopers, but Dreadnaught instead signs with the Colby/Pelf Corporation.
Rumors continue that Mesmer is responsible for Commando Sam’s change in attitude. Mesmer begins appearing at ringside with Sam.
Mayhem joins Krakan’s Hitmen to battle his former Gladiator teammates.
Genesis brings in a new team member, Blizzard. (Note: Blizzard was a part of the Son of Bash game edition.)
The Colby/Pelf Corporation continues to stand apart from Sudden Death and continues to grow, bringing back Doomsayer and adding Monad to its roster. Magnus Colby makes the following ominous statement during the CPC Press Conference in early 2104: “While the other teams beat themselves up in Sudden Death, they’ll wake up in 2105 and find themselves knee-deep in a whole new federation.”

The CPC story arc represents a peak of interest among many players. In this in depth overview David Morse completely closes the circle and brings everything together in a very comprehensive overview. ________________________________________________________
CPC 2105-8: David Morse
The CPC storyline highlighted the attempt by Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf to take over the GWF. Over a period of four years, the wealthy duo established their own rival wrestling organization, the Colby/Pelf Corporation, and worked to gain control of professional wrestling. The CPC 2105-2108 game editions trace this saga from its inception, the roots of which were planted during Sudden Death in 2103-2104, to its conclusion with the full separation of the GWF and CPC into distinct federations.
CPC 2105 GAME EDITION
Sudden Death 2103-4 Results Announced
Winning teams and individuals from Sudden Death were the Champions of the Galaxy, Genesis and Wolf, the Gladiators of Aethra, No Fear, W. A. R., The Fighting Titans, the Savage Kingdom, Jack of Diamonds, Killer Queen, and Dynamo.
Banished for two years as a result of Sudden Death were Mesmer, Tocsin, Splatter, Vanity, Zouave, Scourge, Cycle Hog, Holocaust, Mad Jester.
Bishop Hell was forced to retire from the GWF as a result of Sudden Death.
The Big News: CPC Master Plan Revealed
Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf shocked the GWF in early 2105 by revealing that they had legally created their own wrestling federation, the CPC. The new organization would establish and support its own championships and would promote its own matches.
However, its roster would overlap with the GWF, allowing wrestlers to compete in both organizations. The first commissioner of the CPC was Reynard B. Guile
2105 Rookie Class:
Vendetta—Like his tag team partner Nefarus, Vendetta is a native of Omicron but has chosen to betray the Genesis team and join the Colonizers. The Omicron event has enhanced his already impressive strength, making him one of the most physically imposing men in the GWF. The name of his tag team with Nefarus is Rebel Empire. For his singles finisher, THE BIG FALL, Vendetta lifts his opponent for an overhead press and then clotheslines him on the top turnbuckle. He and Nefarus have also developed a tag finisher, EMPIRE TRIUMPHANT, for which Vendetta puts the opponent on his shoulders and Nefarus comes off the top turnbuckle for a DDT.
Blade—Blade is the younger brother of Crossfire, who was killed in the ring by Blazing Skull in late 2102. Blade has come to the GWF to gain revenge on the wrestler who caused his brother’s death. He will form a tag team with Talisman called The Centaurians and will challenge the Brymstone team called the Lower World. Blade’s finisher, the SWITCHBLADE KICK, is a falling spinwheel kick off the top turnbuckle.
Erebus—Maleph has brought Erebus to the GWF from Brymstone as a tag team partner for Death’s Head. The duo will call themselves the Lower World. Like his partner, Erebus is a pure brawler with little technical wrestling skill. He and Death’s Head have a tag finisher, SKULLWORKS, which involves double falling head butts from opposite turnbuckles on the downed opponent.
Other New Cards for 2105:
Mandrill—The Colonizer leader has become even more imposing, increasing his agility and developing several new moves. He still uses his MUTANT MAULER finisher, but he has now also added the COLONIZER CLAW SLAM, for which he picks up his opponent with a face claw and then slams him to the mat.
Sentry—Tocsin has been banished from wrestling for two years after Sudden Death, but that does not prevent him from becoming the Colonizers’ new bodyguard. He had been renamed Sentry, and as a bodyguard he brings a stun gun to ringside in order to protect his teammates. The stun gun also gives him additional methods for interfering in matches.
Prodigy—Prodigy has left tag team wrestling behind, breaking away from Superiority Complex and joining the CPC as a high-flying singles star. He will compete for the CPC’s new cruiserweight title. His new finisher, THE PERFECT SINGLES FINISHER, is a lightning fast rollup executed when the opponent is on his knees.
Soldier of Fortune— The old pro Soldier of Fortune is beginning to see his abilities slip. His trips through the Transrevolver seem to have finally taken their toll, and his in-ring skills have diminished considerably.
Dragonmaster—Now entering his twenty-first year in the GWF, Dragonmaster is showing signs of age. His skills have suffered a noticeable decline, though he and Rising Sun still make a potent tag team as Titan Fury.
Commissioner Guile—Reynard B. Guile has left managing to become the commissioner of the CPC. He claims to be fair and impartial, but his decisions clearly reflect a bias in favor of those wrestlers who have aligned themselves with the CPC rather than the GWF.
Star Warrior—The GWF legend has now retired from wrestling and will focus on managing the Champions of the Galaxy, as Omega has retired from the GWF.
Special Edition Cards (not included with this set):
Dreadnaught—Another trip through the Transrevolver has returned much of Dreadnaught’s former wrestling ability. No one yet knows how long this recovery of his skills will last.
Death’s Head—A new drawing and minor changes to make Death’s Head a better tag wrestler.
Maxine Babe—New artwork for Maxine as she joins the Rocketmen.
New Match: Zero Gravity Platform Match
This match takes place on a floating platform over a zero-gravity field. The object is to throw one’s opponent off the platform and to keep him floating outside the ring for a ten count.
New Game Charts
Updates to major game charts, including into the ropes, out of the ring, deathjump, choice situations, and several new outside interference charts.
Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2105:
Omega announces his retirement. Star Warrior takes over as manager of the Champions of the Galaxy.
At the press conference for Sam’s Stormtroopers, Mesmer and Commando Sam attempt to banish Chaos for the team’s Sudden Death loss. Phantast appears and explains that Mesmer has used a mind-control drug to turn Sam and Massif against Omega. Phantast releases Sam and Massif from Mesmer’s control. Sam announces that he will banish Mesmer rather than Chaos.
Tocsin attacks and seriously injures Vertigo. Commissioner Grogan suspends Tocsin for his actions. Mandrill then announces that Tocsin will be banished because of the Sudden Death loss, making the suspension meaningless. Vertigo’s wrestling ability is permanently diminished.
Cannibal retires from the GWF after Sudden Death loss.
The Colby/Pelf Corporation announces that Bishop Hell, Mad Jester, and Splatter, though they are banished from the GWF, have joined the CPC and will continue to complete on CPC promoted cards.
Johnny Rocket announces that he has signed Dimension X superstar Paragon, a former arch-rival of Chaos, to a contract. The CPC then announces that Paragon has changed his plans and will sign with the CPC, not the Rocketmen. Due to legal complications, Paragon will not arrive in the GWF and the CPC until 2106.
At an unscheduled press conference, both heroes and villains from the GWF—including Star Warrior, Skinhead, Maleph, Archon, Enigma, Johnny Rocket, and even Krakan and Chaos—come together and announce their unified stand against the CPC challenge. ___________________________________________________________________

CPC 2106 GAME EDITION
The CPC takeover storyline continued in 2106. Some of the most significant aspects of this edition involved the corruption of the GWF Commissioner’s Office and an attempt by the CPC to recruit Wolf to its side.
2106 Rookie Class:
Paragon—“The Big Man,” as he is called, was Chaos’ primary rival back in Dimension X around 2090. Paragon has now signed with the CPC and is being heralded as the centerpiece of the Penthouse Suite team. Cocky, arrogant, and talented, this newcomer expects to dominate the GWF while renewing his old feud with Chaos. His finisher, FINAL OVERTURE, is a figure-four leglock during which Paragon uses his arm strength to push himself into a standing position and then, if the opponent refuses to surrender, falls backward to the mat, nearly breaking the victim’s legs.
Velar the Great—A female wrestler from the Ara system, Velar joins her countryman Terminus on the CPC roster. She plans to challenge Amazonia for female supremacy in the GWF and CPC. She uses the same HAMMERLOCK SLAM finisher as Terminus.
Lycosa—The small, lightening-quick masked man Lycosa joins the Masked Assassins for 2106. Weighing only 211 pounds, Lycosa is faster than almost any other wrestler in the GWF. His image associates him with spiders. His finisher, BLACK WIDOW’S BITE, is a springboard move for which Lycosa stands on the ring apron and leaps up to propel himself off the top rope for a dropkick.
Other New Cards for 2106:
Chaos—The Alpha Stone has been stolen from Chaos, and the loss of his major weapon has weakened him considerably. Chaos believes the thief to be Paragon, who of course denies any involvement. The giant from Dimension X is still one of the top performers in the GWF, and he still uses his BOW OF DEFEAT finisher, but his strength is clearly diminished without his stone.
Blizzard—Originally released as a part of the Son of Bash game edition, Blizzard now becomes an official part of the Genesis team. The Omicron event left Blizzard with a body made in part of snow and ice. He has a rebellious attitude and a quick temper, both of which contribute to his ICE ATTACK finisher, for which he shoots rock-hard iceballs at his opponent.
Painmaster—Now a singles wrestler after the banishment of Tocsin, Painmaster has become a very strong individual performer for the Colonizer team. He is now able to compete with the best wrestlers in the GWF. He continues to use his TORTURE RACK finisher.
Dark Justice—Confused and frustrated by Commander Sam’s various shifts in attitude, Dark Justice has joined Krakan’s Hitmen and has become a major singles star. As his ability has increased, so has his willingness to break rules. His SHOCK PROBATION finisher has become even more powerful, and he has added the ROD OF JUSTICE, an illegal move in which he smashes his opponent with a metal rod, usually while the referee is distracted.
Vigilante—As happened with his partner Soldier of Fortune in 2105, Vigilante is feeling the effects of age. Although he is clearly slowing down, his tag team with Soldier is still capable of winning matches. He has brought back the LIFE SENTENCE finisher he used as the Galactic Punisher, for which he grabs the opponent in a headlock and rams him into the turnbuckle.
Brainstorm—Conceited and cocky as ever, Brainstorm has made some strides as a wrestler. While still not at the top of the GWF, he has definitely improved his skills in the ring while working with the Rocketmen. His finisher, THE BRAINSTORMER, is a Diamond Cutter performed as he stands back-to-back with his opponent.
Talon—Raven’s cousin Eagle, originally released as part of the GWF Birthday Bash set, has changed his name to Talon, joined the Fighting Titans, and become a much better wrestler. He will form a tag team with Scion Nexus called Titan Gliders. Talon still has a lot to learn, but he is quick enough to give many opponents problems. His finisher, TALON’S PREY, is a dive onto the opponent from the top turnbuckle.
Special Edition Cards (not included with this set):
Janus the Overman—A few changes to Janus’ abilities go along with his new artwork.
Vertigo—Vertigo has retired from ring action and become the manager of the Genesis team.
Krakan—Due to an injury suffered in a brutal attack by the Terrorists and the Draconian Sheik, Krakan will spend 2106 in a neck brace, as depicted on this card.
Lord Nexus—Lord Nexus has now fully retired from wrestling to concentrate on managing the Titans.
Special New Chart: Wolf Wildman Chart
Due to the events that took place with Terminus at the CPC Press Conference in early 2106, Wolf and Amazonia have begun randomly attacking other wrestlers, but especially those in the CPC and most especially Terminus and Velar.
Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2106:
The Terrorists reveal their identities. They are former GWF stars Marcel de Sade and Ghengis Khan, and their purpose in the GWF is to get revenge on Krakan and Darkos.
The Alpha Stone is stolen from Chaos in January 2106.
Commissioner Grogan announces that the GWF will recognize the CPC championship belts. Many GWF stars protest the decision, with Star Warrior the most vocal.
The CPC reveals GWF Commissioner Grogan as the new interim CPC Commissioner. Grogan’s selling out to Colby and Pelf explains his decision to recognize the CPC titles in the GWF. The GWF Executive Committee strips Grogan of his power as GWF Commissioner.
The Colby/Pelf Corporation attempts to recruit Wolf to its side at the CPC Press Conference. Wolf considers the offer, but he is then insulted and attacked by Terminus. The incident turns Wolf and Terminus into mortal enemies and sets Wolf on a rampage that will last throughout the year.
Due to injuries suffered at the hands of Tocsin in 2105, Vertigo retires from wrestling and becomes manager of the Genesis team.
The Gladiators of Aethra challenge W. A. R. to a one-year Sudden Death feud in 2106. The entire losing team will be banished from the GWF. Mayhem joins W. A. R. to fight against his fellow Aethrans.
Exo-King, Killer Queen, and Pulsar announce their retirements from GWF action. __________________________________________________________________
CPC 2107 GAME EDITION
The third year of the CPC takeover storyline saw some significant changes in the GWF. Several major stars took the year off from wrestling—either willingly or through banishment—and the CPC continued to draw talent to its ranks, even attempting to recruit the Gladiators and GWF co-founder Morpheus.
2107 Rookie Class:
Desolation Factor—Rack and Ruin, the huge tag team first introduced in the Dimension X Classics game edition, make their entrance into the GWF in 2107. Worse yet, Doomsayer has put the two giants through the Transrevolver, making them even larger and more powerful. In fact, no one other than Overkill and Genocide can match the pure strength of Ruin. Desolation Factor plans to challenge Thunder and Overkill for tag team supremacy. Their finisher, RACKED AND RUINED, is a move for which they place their opponent across both their shoulders, climb onto the bottom rope, and then fall backward onto the victim with crushing force.
Anarchy—The Brymstone team gets larger and more maniacal as Anarchy enters the GWF. Anarchy is a large wrestler and is very difficult to pin. He is also prone to disqualifications, as rules matter very little to him. His finisher, the CRUCIFIX DROP, is a running Razor’s Edge power bomb delivered onto a colorless metal plate that Maleph helps Anarchy slide into the ring. If the referee sees the plate, Anarchy may be disqualified, but a DQ usually just encourages him to do more damage to his opponent.
Other New Cards for 2107:
Blazing Skull—The evil Blazing Skull has removed his skullcap in order to better intimidate and injure opponents. However, he now seems more able to control the fiery blasts from his head, and thus they are no longer life threatening for his opponents. His finisher, DEATH BY FIRE, is simply the release of one of his fire explosions while the referee is distracted. The blasts have three levels of intensity, depending on how badly Skull wants to injure the opponent and how much he wants to risk disqualification and suspension. His newfound control has made many people wonder if Crossfire’s death in 2102 was truly an accident.
Spike—The most popular and perhaps most successful Gladiator in GWF history has returned after a layoff of many years. He is not as quick as he was in his younger days, but he is just as powerful and dangerous. He still uses his MEGADESTROYER finisher.
Colossus—The cyborg Colossus has changed his attitude and joined the CPC. He is still a top level fighter, but he is now convinced that Omega, Star Warrior, and the other heroes were using him for their own purposes, and he plans to take his anger out on them. He has renamed several of his moves, but he still executes them in the same way and still copies the finishers of his opponents.
Gila—Originally introduced as a part of the GWF Birthday Bash game edition, the diminutive Gila has joined the Savage Kingdom on a full-time basis. He turned down an offer from Doomsayer to go through the Transrevolver, and thus he remains the smallest male wrestler in the GWF. His finisher, the GUT CHECK, is an overhead press from which he drops his opponent stomach-first onto his knee.
Karah—Karah was originally released as a part of the Son of Bash Game Edition. Terak has trained him to be a tag team specialist and will now pair him with Wildcat in the team Hunters of Prey. The Hunters have a tag team finisher, the HUNTER’S STRIKE, for which the duo delivers a double dropkick after bouncing off the top rope.
Thantos—The legendary Thantos, manager of the CPC centerpiece team Penthouse Suite, is now more prone to interfering in matches than ever. He is still retired from in-ring action.
Scourge—The one-eyed Scourge has been hired by the CPC as a special referee. His favoritism of CPC wrestlers is made even worse by his limited vision.
Special Edition Cards (not included with this set):
Commissioner Omega and Commissioner Morpheus—The new GWF co-commissioners are featured together on this card.
Commissioner Grogan—No longer an interim, Grogan has been appointed as the commissioner of the CPC.
New Game Charts
A new cruiserweight out of the ring chart was released as the reverse side of the updated into the turnbuckle chart.
Ringside Companion 2107
The third edition of the CotG Ringside Companion was released in 2107. The handbook includes all of the new matches and special charts released from 2102 to 2106, three new special matches (Cygnus Adamantium Fists Match, Total Anarchy Match, and Scorpi King of the Ring Match), and a new lottery chart for attacks by Splatter and Vyper.
New Special Matches
Cygnus Adamantium Fists—an updated version of the Cygnus Brass Knuckles Match.
Total Anarchy Match—a wild match in which falls count anywhere except in the ring.
Scorpi King of the Ring Match—a match in which one must beat the opponent badly enough to throw him out of the ring and win by countout.
Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2107:
Gladiators defeat W. A. R. in Sudden Death. Raven, Mace, Dreggs, and Mayhem are banished for two years.
Alpha Force takes a leave of absence. The older son of Omega gives no explanation for his disappearance in 2107.
Massacre is named the new Aethran Minister of War.
Magnus Colby offers to make Morpheus the new CPC Commissioner.
Morpheus publicly declines and embarrasses Colby. Interim CPC
Commissioner Grogan is named the new permanent commissioner.
Mayhem joins the CPC. He will continue to compete on CPC promoted cards during his GWF banishment.
Vyper, Colossus, and Dynamo defect to the CPC. Dynamo will reform the Awesome Studs tag team with Vanity, who has also joined the CPC during his GWF banishment.
Mandrill reveals that he, not Paragon, stole the alpha stone from Chaos. The revelation is sure to start a feud with Chaos just when the GWF needs unity against the CPC threat.
In an interview, Lance At-Las hints at a possible return to the GWF.
Dreadnaught’s transrevolved abilities fade away quickly. The one-time star is back to the weakened state he experienced before his latest entry into Doomsayer’s machine, and he has been rejected by every team in the GWF.
The Mad Jester reverts to being the Defender of the Realm—sometimes. On any given night, no one knows which of the two split personalities will appear.
Pulsar returns to the GWF to join the Centaurians in their battle with Brymstone Burning.
Morpheus and Omega are named co-commissioners of the GWF. The two state that they will create a new Galactic Code to keep order and hint that the time may be coming to bring back the Code Enforcer. ___________________________________________________________________ CPC 2108 GAME EDITION
2108 marks the conclusion of the CPC takeover storyline. GWF Co-Commissioners Omega and Morpheus announce that in 2109, all wrestlers will be forced to make a choice between the GWF and the CPC. The commissioners also publish their new Galactic Code, and a new Code Enforcer—or maybe more than one—is unleashed on the GWF.
2108 Rookie Class:
The Code Enforcers—The Code Enforcer actually turns out to be two men—one smaller and very agile, the other extremely large and powerful. Omega and Morpheus deny that they are two separate men, but the truth is obvious. Both Enforcers wear masks and do not speak, so their true identities are a secret. Some observers have speculated that the larger Code Enforcer could be Zouave, Ram, Manslaughter, or Taurine, while the smaller one might be Raven, Romulus, Vector One, or Talisman. The Code Enforcers are managed by Commander Sam, and they do not appear together in order to preserve the illusion that they are the same person. Both use finishers called HEADS WILL ROLL. The smaller Enforcer’s version of the move is a double chickenwing cradle. The larger Enforcer uses a belly-to-back cobra clutch suplex. The larger Enforcer also has a second finisher, the CODE CROWBAR, which is a falling clothesline from the top turnbuckle.
Maelstrom—An alien from Cygnus, Maelstrom was trained by Commander Sam’s old enemy Mangus. Like his mentor, Maelstrom hates humans. His finisher, the ANNIHILATOR EDGE, is a clothesline delivered after the victim has been whipped into the ropes.
Lorelai—Lorelai is the mother of Blade and the deceased Crossfire. She has come to the GWF to manage the Centaurians and to gain revenge on Blazing Skull for the death of her son. She does not wrestle.
Mike Fortune—Fortune is a product of Earth time travel. He has been brought forward from the year 1998, when he wrestled for various independent federations. He is now allied with Krakan and the Hitmen for Hire. His finisher, THE HANGMAN, is a move for which Fortune stands back to back with his opponent, grabs his victim by the chin, and lifts him by his neck in a painful submission maneuver.
Other New Cards for 2108:
U. S. Traitor—U. S. Patriot has changed his name and turned his back on the United States and on the GWF heroes, calling Commander Sam a tyrant and leaving his pregnant wife, Ms. Liberty. He has joined the newcomer Maelstrom in a tag team called Cygnus Strikeforce. His singles finisher, the TURNCOAT FLYER, is the same as his previous FREEDOM FLYER finisher. He and Maelstrom also have a tag finisher, CYGNUS STRIKEFORCE, for which Maelstrom performs a tombstone piledriver and then U. S. Traitor follows with a frog splash.
Twin Blood—The twin brothers Dreggs and Sleeeze have formed a new tag team, Twin Blood. The duo is managed by Johnny Rocket. They expect that their past success as tag team wrestlers and their communication with each other as twins, as well as their great agility and wrestling ability, will make them a top tag team. Dreggs still uses his TWIST AND SHOUT finisher and has also added the DREGGS OF DEFEAT, which is a submission hold for which Dreggs scissors his victim’s arm with his legs and then pulls back on the other arm. The brothers have also developed two tag finishers. SEEING DOUBLE is a double DDT, while for TWICE BITTEN Sleeze lifts the opponent onto his shoulders and Dreggs performs a Frankensteiner off the top turnbuckle.
Dreadnaught—Too many trips through the Transrevolver have taken a huge toll on Dreadnaught. He has become a shell of his former self, and his health is at risk every time he wrestles. He has been urged to retire, but he has stated that he would rather die in the ring than stop fighting—and given his condition, such a death is a distinct possibility.
Buck Steele—Steele has not changed his fighting style, but he seems to be turning into Genocide more often and more easily, and as Steele he is becoming physically weaker. He is returning to singles action for 2108, leaving his tag team with Blizzard.
Special Edition Cards (not included with this set):
Greg “The Hammer” Valentine—Another product of earth time travel, Valentine has been brought forward from the twentieth century to join Krakan’s Hitmen for Hire.
Lance At-Las—New artwork and minor stat changes as Lance makes his return to the GWF.
Chaos—A new card for Chaos as he joins Alpha Force in a powerful new tag team.
Alpha Force—New artwork and a new tag finisher to reflect Alpha’s new alliance with Chaos.
New Special Match:
Tirion Triple Threat Match: Three wrestlers in the ring together, fighting in an every man for himself brawl.
Other Major GWF News and Stories in 2108:
Masked man attacks CPC wrestlers in arenas throughout the galaxy. The masked vigilante wears a costume very similar to that of the Code Enforcer who entered the GWF in 2084. Commissioners Morpheus and Omega refuse to comment.
Mutant is really Montol. Krakan reveals that Mutant is former GWF wrestler Montrol, who was turned into the Mutant by radiation from an air raid bomb blast sometime around 2085.
Commissioners Morpheus and Omega publish the new Galactic Code. They also state that all CPC wrestlers will be fired and that everyone will be forced to make a choice between the GWF and the CPC. Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf take legal action that delays the firings until 2109.
Heracles joins the CPC and reforms his tag team with Colossus.
Alpha Force comes back from Dimension X and explains to Chaos that the alpha stone is a fraud. Alpha says that his abilities and those of Chaos were never made greater by the stone, but rather by their increased belief in themselves because of what they thought the stone could do. Chaos agrees to join Alpha Force in a tag team to fight the CPC.
Star Warrior recruits an all-star team. For the final battle against the CPC, Star Warrior expands the Champions of the Galaxy roster to include Chaos, Alpha Force, Wolf, Pegasus, Amazonia, Supernova, CPC defector the Matador of M83, and the recently returned Lance At-Las.
Splatter and Vyper bolt from the CPC and join the Terrorists.
Long-time Fighting Titans Dragonmaster and Pulsar both retire.
The Creeper, Hammer, Manslaughter, Powerhouse, and Talisman all disappear from the GWF without notice.

What follows is a very extensive breakdown of Takeover 2112. I marvel at the output of some of this projects contributors. An incredible effort. ________________________________________________________
TAKEOVER 2112
Credit JeffT
TAKEOVER 2112 marked a key point in GWF history in more ways than one. After the original 2087 edition debuted, all releases since have been titled based on certain overall storyline themes lasting 2-4 years. However, the TAKEOVER title theme appeared only in 2112. It also features significant events in the federation’s ongoing story as a whole. The UFSP’s ban on professional wrestling was overturned and the GWF returned after two years of competing in another dimension. Unfortunately, what should have been a triumphant occasion quickly turned shady as it was revealed that the conniving Cordanus had taken advantage of a legal loophole to seize ownership of the GWF!
Main Storyline of 2112:
The ‘Takeover’ of Cordanus – Cordanus becomes owner of the GWF, names himself commissioner, and even forms his own powerful team of wrestlers called, appropriately, Takeover. Cordanus also serves as overall leader and manager of the powerful newcomer, Mensar. He then boldly hires Thantos who mentors the highly talented Bloodline primarily as a means to spite the Omega family and introduces his own son, Encubus, the Prince of Darkness. It is revealed that Cordanus’s vengeful obsession with the GWF stems from the fact that he is actually a failed professional wrestler himself. Due to this crushing turn of events, Star Warrior’s fragile psyche is pushed over the edge. He returns to his unstable and extremely volatile Avenging Warrior persona. He declares war on Cordanus with an edgy superstar team of his own. He dons a new Avenging Warrior mask and constantly carries a crowbar. Now he stalks the ringside during matches ready to snap at any moment.
Other Important Events in 2112:
Massacre’s Killer Revealed – Phantast reveals that a conspiracy between Vengeance, Doomsayer, and Mayhem. They planned and executed the legendary Massacre. The details of this conspiracy makes punishment of the assassins difficult and plants the seeds of growing dissension and strife within the Gladiator camp and all of Aethra as well.
Comings and Goings:
The current native Centran fighters decide to journey to Dimension K also. This includes the mysterious and ancient Murdok, who blames the Ravagers for exterminating his people and has vowed retribution at any cost. However, not everyone who wrestled in Centra came home. Lance At-Las and Meteor elected to remain behind. A wanderer at heart, Lance wished to explore this new galaxy alongside his good friend. Eventually the two friends, along with an unexpected third party, went on to form the Centra Wrestling Federation. The cruel and sadistic PainMaster was that surprise third party. By means of Mandrill’s treachery, he had been mistakenly left behind and trapped in Dimension Y. At least for awhile….
Team Feuds:
Takeover v. The Avenging Warriors The Colonizers v. The Gladiators of Aethra The Ramparts v. Murdok’s World FDF v. The Alien Connection The RocketMen v. The Great Comeback The Centaurians v. Brymstone Burning The Fighting Titans v. Hitmen for Hire Transevolver (independents)
2112 Newcomers:
Mensar: Handpicked from Mensa’s best fighters by Cordanus himself, Mensar arrives to challenge the GWF’s best. He has superstar talent and intensity combined with strength greater than nearly anyone he faces. He has an excellent finisher called the WRECKING MACHINE (front face-lock while falling backwards off the turnbuckle head spike). Overall, he’s probably a notch or two below the elite wrestlers at this time, but he has two huge advantages with Cordanus giving him constant title pushes as owner/commissioner and being a major pest at ringside. He occasionally forms a Tag Team called Blacklist with Cordanus.
Encubus: The shocking events of 2112 somewhat overshadowed what some would consider a notable event in wrestling. The debut of Encubus, son of the legendary Thantos. He has prepared for this moment nearly all his life under the guidance of his father. He has a dark, almost occult-like aura about him and is also known as the ‘Prince of Darkness’. While still quite young, he is clearly a skilled all-around wrestler and excellent athlete. He completely idolizes his father and the names of his two finishers are tributes to him. The MAFFEI MASTERLOCK is a variation on Thantos’s MASTERLOCK, but not nearly as effective, and the more dangerous SECOND COMING is a dropkick into the turnbuckle followed by a bulldog. He also forms a Tag Team with Bloodline called Next Generation.
Stars and Stripes (American Guy/U.S. Male): The top two prospects from Earth at the time, these two young men are recruited by Commando Sam and thrown right into the fire of the ongoing battle between Sam and Mangus. American Guy escaped a life of being raised on the streets to become an Olympic wrestler. He is skilled on the mat but his rough upbringing has left him with a brash, trash-talking streak and a bad temper as well. He is decent in singles and tag matches and uses a double-team maneuver with Male called Stars and Stripes (double toss into the ropes followed by a combo head slam into the mat) as well as his finisher AMERICAN FIREPOWER (chicken wing into a pin attempt). U.S. Male is a smart and straightforward individual who also idolizes Commando Sam. He possesses strong wrestling fundamentals but excels in tag team competition. Like Guy, he also has a double-team attack called Show of Force (double shoulder ram) and even a tag finishing move called the PATRIOT MISSILE (Guy lifts Male over his head from the turnbuckle and throws his partner at the opponent with Male going for a roll-up).
Other New Standard Cards:
Cordanus: His original UFSP President card gets overhauled into wrestler/manager combination. He has undercard-level wrestling skills but only appears in tag matches with Mensar. Together they are called Blacklist, but Mensar is left doing all the work. Cordanus will usually only tag in when the opponent is down or when there’s a chance to finish the match. His finisher is TOTAL MASTERY and basically amounts to distracting the referee so Mensar can sneak in and perform his own finisher. The cowardly Cordanus then gets the cover for himself.
Lorelei: The fiery Centaurian woman consumed with seeking vengeance for her son’s death now enters the ring herself. She’s an agile wrestler with decent skills. Her finisher is a spinning DDT she calls MATERNAL RAGE. She also forms a tag team with Amazonia. They go up against The Hellions and call themselves the Amazon Brawlers.
Maelstrom: The ‘human exterminator’, as he now calls himself, turns his focus to singles competition. He takes on somewhat of an ‘enforcer’ role for his team now. He possesses a strong offense and a controversial finisher called BRAND OF CYGNUS. The move is basically an Annihilator Edge, but if he wins the match with it, he might then try for further humiliation and actually ‘brand’ his opponent right there in the ring.
Draconian Sheik: This madman gets a bit better and some move changes, but he’s still the one of the most psychotic wrestlers in GWF history. He still uses the DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER but has added another finisher – the SADISTIC HAMMERLOCK (hammerlock with opponent face down, then lunging forward in an attempt to break the arm).
Wraith: Wraith has entered the Transevolver and emerged with improved invisibility powers. Almost all of his attacks take his opponents completely by surprise, giving him one of the most potent offenses in GWF history.
Vyper: Vyper has become even more intense if that’s possible. In 2112, he has fully realized his wrestling potential and vaulted himself into a championship contention.
Special Edition Cards:
Thunder: Thunder could be considered the greatest Gladiator ever after the slight upgrades on this card.
Murdok: The first appearance of the ancient Antilian with the ‘power of the plague’. This is a key card due to the fact that he’s very involved in official storylines and doesn’t get a ‘regular edition’ card until 2117.
Trench: Some slight changes reflecting his new attitude.
Avenging Warrior: New manager card.
2112 Ringside Companion:
Offers many new matches and some previous ones as well. It also includes some important charts to use. Some key matches and charts are: The Mensa Tables Match (brought by Mensar in 2112), the Earth Ladder Match (brought by American Guy in 2112), and a special 2112 chart for Commissioner Cordanus the determines Title Shots, Suspensions, etc.
